I didnt like him, when he was our manager, and so badly wanted him to get sacked, which he was pretty quickly. But I hated cocaine nose even more, he somehow had 2 years , spent so much, and I never seen such bad brain dead football in my life. Plus he was immensely arrogant. I dont get why LVg gets barely any criticism compared to Moyes
You should read the ready to go Moyes thread where I got those quotes from above. Some of their fans have the same complaints that we did.Never his responsibility. Always someone else.
How the hell he managed what he did at Everton I'll never know.
His Everton time is overrated, you can acchieve so much more than what he did in 10 years.Never his responsibility. Always someone else.

Was it really a small budget though? The biggest correlation to the success of a team, is the money they spent in wages. During Moyes time there, Everton had the eighth highest wage bill in the league (on average), while their average finish in the league was (spoiler alert) eighth! So, a perfect match.I think there's a genuine argument that he got quite lucky at Everton at times. He managed to get a band of alright-ish loyal players who weren't good enough for the top level but definitely good enough for the top 6/7: players like Cahill, Howard, Osman etc. His side was one of the more consistent ones squad wise in that there was never that much of a turnover.
That's not to discredit him doing well on a small budget and regularly keeping them in the top half, but he definitely benefited from others factors whilst there as well and his been dreadful since. He'll be gone from Sunderland in a few weeks at this rate.
I predicted he'd be gone by Christmas, at this rate he might not even see out October.
Despite my intense dislike for Moyes i have always maintained he is a good manager based on his time at Everton. It's early days at Sunderland and he still has plenty of time to turn it around but if he doesn't and gets sacked/relegated i think it would be fair to say his time at Everton was a one off. And it begs the question is he really a good manager?
If he fails at Sunderland then he will have been totally out of his depth at 3 of his 4 top flight jobs, his biggest achievement according to most (steering Everton from relegation to solid mid-table) will have been something he did once and almost 15 years ago. If he can't replicate that at Sunderland which will almost certainly mean its his last PL job then i think we have to re-evaluate Moyes overall record.
I suspect he's done at the top level.

He spent less on transfers, so he definitely did a bit better than they should have done, but you also have to consider that he was the only manager in the league with no targets, and who was given a lot of time even when they did bad. I think he had a decent/good time at Everton, but a lot of people overrate his 'achievements' there.
Not really, if he doesn't win any of his next three or four games and loses a couple of them then he'll probably be a goner.

That average will have been distorted a bit though by his one 17th placed finish (which he was lucky to survive in all fairness), and an 11th placed one as well. On the whole he managed to outdo that average budget on a few occasions with a 4th placed finish and multiple 5th placed finishes.
But I do agree his achievements were often overrated. He was often hailed as a minor miracle worker when in reality he managed to stay level with expectations, whilst sometimes slightly exceeding them. The consistency with which he did that was excellent but it's little compared to Klopp's achievements at Dortmund or Simeone's at Atletico.
To be fair though, some people did point out he was overrated. I was sceptical of his appointment but not too disappointed; others argued that what he'd done at Everton was essentially a slightly better, longer-term version of what Allardyce had done at Bolton...and very few people would've ever wanted Allardyce here. He was appreciated but plenty of football fans recognised that the hype around him had also been overdone. He was like someone who started out a tad underrated as a manager, but quickly became very overrated once people began to give him credit.
He just blamed the players again.
Of all the managers since Busby, only Ron Atkinson ended up having a decent career after being sacked by the club.

Retired it seems, but there's been talks about him going to Werder Bremen.
Hangs his players out to dry for not picking up Benteke, but they're doing zonal marking, obviously doing as their told.
Totally low, and totally different to Mourinho calling out Shaw's positional error that was made such a big deal of...
I wonder the media will focus on Moyes publicly criticizing his players...?
I wonder if they've even mention it?
Fergie wins that accolade, too. Big Ron never lectured at Harvard.Of all the managers since Busby, only Ron Atkinson ended up having a decent career after being sacked by the club.
He won't.He just needs to make them hard to beat.
Public Enemy innit?
What on earth is the deal with your tagline?
