I hope he does a season in the Championship as I can see Sunderland struggling and that'll really be his breaking point, but I feel he will jump ship/get pushed this summer. For some unknown reason I bet he still believes he deserves a top 6-8 Premier League team
I can see them struggling in the Championship regardless if they keep Moyes or not, as they're skint. If they keep Moyes I can see them really being up against it. There are so many decent teams in the Championship with many progressive managers, basically everything Moyes is not.

Seeing Benitez coach Real was strange
Avram Grant at Chelsea although very different circumstances. I can't think of anything directly comparable. We should just thank Ed Woodward for ignoring the "United Way" chorus and firing him in his first season.
Benitez won the CL, La Liga with Valencia etc. He's miles ahead of Moyes in that sense. Rafa is a decent manager imo.
Aye Avram Grant is probably comparable but at least he got Chelsea within an inch of winning the Champions League.

So Short could have binned Moyes off as soon as Allardyce left the England job. The compensation to Moyes would have been out weighed by the money staying in the league. That said the money they'll get from parachute payments will mean they won't be that hard up. They'll need to get shot of a few to get them off the wage bill. Just depends who wants to go and play there. If Moyes stays who would now want to play under him? When Newcastle got relegated last year everyone believed in Benitez which has been the catalyst for this season. Having a brief scan through the comments on "Ready to go" I'm assuming most of the posters are match goers and a large section have no faith in Moyes. Not that David is seemingly arsed.
He won that ages before appointed to manage Real. I agree that it's better than Moyes to United, but still felt strange.
Weren't they interim managers, so slightly different. We gave Moyes a six year deal. It's bloody preposterous, thinking about it now.
Shellshocked that a good portion of the dieharders and pseudo intellectual posters on this forum looked down upon anyone who dared suggest we appointed an average manager who was way out of his league. But oh he's Bri-ish and for sure cut from the same cloth as Fergie and all that.

David Moyes is Christina Hendrick's husband and all the teams he's managed are Christina Hendricks, way out of his league. Moyes is a league 2 manager at best.
Who was the Newcastle manager a few seasons ago? He was completely woeful. Obviously not the same magnitude but nevertheless, it was a shocking appointment. It wasn't Joe Kaneer. Could have been been his predecessor though.

I still can't believe we appointed this fellow as a manager. We were champions, stuff of envy of every rival fan, every one hated our success and wanted to see us fall. We then went and appointed this chap and he gave them just that and more. We failed to strengthen our squad, finished out of top 4, got humiliated again and again, and are still struggling. Think we would have been in a much better position today had we appointed someone competent, like Mourinho.

Right i think it's time to reevaluate David Moyes as a manager. Many people myself included have considered him a good manager based on work at Everton, but over the last 4 years he done the following.
Takes over the champions spends more on players in one season than any United manager in history yet drags them down to 7th and out of europe for the first time in like 20+ years.
Takes over Sociedad a team that qualified for the Champions and Europa league the previous two seasons, spent more on players than any Sociedad manager in history and finished 12th and then only wins two games the next season before getting the boot.
Takes over Sunderland a team that has survived in the Premier League for the last few years, spends more in one window than any Sunderland manager in history and yet still gets them relegates. Not only relegated but rock bottom of the table all season with only 5 wins.
So at this point it's safe to say he just isn't a very good football manager, 1 failure you chalk up as bad luck, 2 in a row really bad luck, but 3 in a row is confirmation he's crap.

Real Madrid go through a lot of coaches though and Benitez has a decent record - maybe not A list but he certainly has some talent.
United, on the other hand, was a club built around a "manager", and they replaced an absolutely ruthless winner (as demonstrated even before he pitched up at United in 1986) with a 50 year old without a trophy to his name. I am probably repeating myself but there is no way United would have appointed a 50 year old foreign manager with an allergy to silverware and who had spent 10 years keeping the likes of Torino or Real Betis in the top 10 of their league. Sentimentality and perverse pride in doing things differently trumped common sense.
