David Moyes | West Ham in talks with him for managerial job

MUFC (sacked in his first season).
Real Sociedad (sacked in his first season)
Sunderland (sacked in his first season)

I'm beginning to sense a pattern here...
Was he not sacked in his 2nd season at Sociedad?, he was there from November - November 1 day short of 1 year

Hopefully Moyes will now slink off into obscurity, though i doubt it. Sunderland fans must be delighted.

Seems strange to me that he didn't resign during the season when it was obvious he didn't have a clue how to keep Sunderland up, and Sunderland could have got someone in who has a clue. It makes you wonder if he was hanging on in the hope of getting sacked again for another big pay off.

You can change shite to average all you want it doesn't make it right, you have absolutely nothing to back up that statement. Compared to where Everton were before he arrived he did an extremely good job on a shoestring budget whilst having to sell his best players most years.
Nah.

Because midtable clubs have won tons of trophies in this era. Having stability like Everton had under Moyes is rare especially since they were a side usually battling relegation before he showed up.

They were were one of the opt sides in the 80's and a solid mid-table side in the 90's, sure they had a few bad years before Moyes and he deserves credit for getting them back to mid-table. But it's not like he took a team that was struggling for decades and yo-yoing between divisions and made them a solid PL team. It was Everton for feck sake.

During his time there the likes of Middlesbrough, Wigan and Portsmouth won cups and yet in 26 attempts he didn't win even one. What ever way you spin it thats poor.

I knew it, wasn't difficult to call. He would leave if Sunderland got relegated because he will always see himself above the Championship. That would be fine is he could justify it, but honestly? He probably is that level.

Before he arrived - 15th, 17th, 14th, 13th, 16th and 15th. Everton avoided relegation on goal difference in 1998 and were only out of the relegation zone on goal difference when he arrived. 1996 was their only top half finish in ten years before he joined. That's struggling.

That's pretty unfair, to be honest.

There's a good bit of quality in the Championship. Well beyond Moyes.

Exactly. It's nonsense that he excelled at Everton - our media have to tried to brainwash us with that crap for too long now.

Threw himself on his sword, but missed all major arteries.Explained at post-suicide press conference that the sword wasn't good enough, so the failure wasn't his fault.

He did a good job at Everton between 2002 and 2007.

But he stagnated massively thereafter. Their loss against Wigan in the FA cup quarters of 2013 summed him up.

3-0 at Goodison and completely outplayed.

The fact that Moyes failed to win anything while powerhouses like Blackburn, Swansea,Birmingham, Middlesbrough and Wigan did over that same time period invalidates that theory about Everton not being the type to win trophies.

Extremely delighted...

He was LMA manager of the year three times, only onced finished outside the top 11 when he was there compared to once in the decade before he arrived. To come 4th was an impressive achievement especially considering they sold Rooney that summer. Some of his cheaper signings were inspired as well. Everton never win anything no matter who manages them, they're a bunch of bottlers as we see at Anfield every year. Moyes is finished but to say he was shite at Everton is just plainly wrong and has no basis.

Well said. His recent failings shouldn't be used to erase the good work he did at Everton. I kind of feel bad for him actually. To think a few years ago he was one of the longest serving managers in the PL. Now he's probably done.

Moyes might have stagnated at Everton but to finish fourth in the league with what was very little money even back then was a real achievement. Everton fans might have been complaining about him towards the end but they're Everton fans, they complain about everything.

He should do the footballing world a favour and resign being a manager fool stop.

Imagine being on a night out with him? He's dreary as feck, he might as well be in black and white.

I'm surprised he's resigned, I thought he'd wait for the compensation when he's sacked after they have a bad start in the Championship. This guy is a complete fraud, he can kiss goodbye to his managerial career because I doubt anyone would be stupid enough to appoint him.

Who is he going to ruin next then?

This is definitely worth a sweepstake thread.

Watch the media now say he was too good for Sunderland, that their team wasn't good enough, that he couldn't stop them going down, and that he deserves a chance at a good PL club next season.

It's already started, some guy on ssn earlier mentioning their recent record, trouble is most of us knew he'd be shit unlike big Sam for instance.

This summarises the feeling amongst Sunderland fans.

Damn, beat me to it

Is this street awash with unicorns and capped by rainbow-coloured candy floss clouds that rain Sunny D?

Lma award means shit all buddy, how many times did Ferguson win it?Or am I thinking of another award?

I'm no David Moyes fan by any means, but leading Everton to 4th, 6th, 5th, 5th, 8th, 7th, 7th, 6th, doesn't make him a 'complete fraud'.

Modern football has caught up with him, it happens.

Yet Mourinho is apparently rubbish. Why the double standards ?

Well not really mate thats not exactly struggling in my book theres a few mid-table finishes in there, in very few of those seasons was there any real danger of them getting relegated. As i said in the 90's they were a pretty solid mid-table side only in 98/99 and 00/01 did they really struggle. And to be fair i said Moyes deserves credit for getting them out of that and back to their mid-table slot.

But the way some drone on about his job at Everton like he took some no name lower league side and cemented them as a PL team. He didn't though it was fecking Everton they are one of the biggest clubs in England. They have always been pretty rich compared to most clubs and during his time there they were always in the top 6-10 in terms of wages. And thats round about where they always finished, so yeah good job but lets not exaggerate his achievements there.

He deserves a CL club cause he is a manager with a CL potential, don't you know.

This guy was our manager. I want that stuff from Men in black, that flash or something when you forget some things from your life. One of them being David friggin Moyes being a Manchester United manager.

Maybe he figures the problems generally lie with him than anyone else. The first step to getting back any kind of credibility would be a thorough introspection. But that could be too much to ask for from someone who has his head so much far up his arse. But good luck anyway.

I knew Moyes wasn't going to stick around in the Championship. He's probably seen what's happened to Villa and Norwich and doesn't fancy it, especially with the Toon coming straight back up.

He had a chance to restore his credibility and bottled it. He should never manage again! I will be absolutely gob-smacked if a PL outfit comes in for him ever again!!

Whenever I think of Moyes my mind always goes to that scene in one of the awful Star Wars prequels where Darth Vader is burning in some lava and Obi Wan Kenobi tearfully screams "but you were supposed to be the chosen one!"

So on top of all of Moyes' bad points, he also makes me think of those films. The cnut.
