IMO he is the best GK in the World and we should be doing everything we can to secure the best players in the World, especially when they are proven....which De Gea is.
Lets also not forget that he is our player of the season.
It really does suck to lose him. :(

I will keep the hope until I see the official statement on our homepage or twitter!

We'll see how he likes Madrid when he makes a mistake and is hounded about it by the fans and the media for weeks. Ronaldo realizes how much better the support is at United than Madrid and has even mentioned it.

I don't begrudge him going home, but it's disappointing.

Why do people say he wants to start a family? is that a fact?

He did an interview on the Spanish show Mujeres Fáciles where he said "I'm not getting any younger, I know my biological clock is ticking and it's always been a dream of mine to have a big family. Every time I see a baby I just feel so, so broody."

Ah ok, missed that. We are fecked :(

I don't think we'll miss him as much as people are making out. Yes he is a very good keeper and arguably our best player this season. But it should never be the case at United where the keeper is the best performing player. If that is the case then we are well and truly fecked.

I'd rather we sort our, embarrassing at times, defence out and get a top level keeper and that will do. As odd as it sounds we don't need the best keeper in the world.

A lot of people are also just as pissed because of the tiny transfer fee we will receive for him. If we was signed up, we could have got more than what Buffon went for.

Oh well, I remember adding him onto my team back in the Fifa 11 days and thinking he could maybe develop in one of the world best. He has and we will hardly benefit from it lol

Arf :D

Isn't he supposedly a sucker for tacos, according to Eric Steele?

I mean, how hard can it be to stuff some meat and vegetables into a tortilla.

The bird and the family can surely wait a couple more years when he'll be (gasp!) 26. I mean come on Dave if she's really that special she'll wait for you. Bloody Madrid pillaging us again at a stupidly low price.

De Gea is so good that can afford where to play however it's surrealistic that the destiny of the two richest clubs in the world, involving hundreds of millions, is determined for the decision of his girlfriend.Although I am happy that he is coming(if the news are truth) I think that he should have told it publicly before(I suppose that the club knew it months ago),simply for respect to the fans.It seems that he wants to leave without noise but cowardly

Stop being so sensible and let us wallow in our hatred for Real Madrid.

Whoosh.

I think it was La Ficción los Niños de las Estrellas.

We need to start downloading his girlfriend's singles to get her in to the UK charts so she also has a career here:

It's no worse than any of the other s**t in the charts.

Wow thats horrible. I thought de Gea liked Slayer and that type of music. i
If my girlfriend lived in Spain and made that kind of music i would stay far away from her....

It's hard though, i don't think this is a case of we aren't good enough I think it's just plainly he's somewhat homesick/life would be much easier in Madrid for him with family etc.

As much as it sucks :(

Was shattered as he was walking off the pitch thinking that could be the last time I see him in a United top. Dave :(

I tend to avoid posting in the (dedicated) United section of the forum, but the DDG situation is interesting, and I thought I'd throw my opinion out there.

Yeah, we're offering to pay him £8m a year anyway. So if it's between getting £15m and him going this year or nothing and him going next year I'd keep him for another year.

For United, as a football club, this just makes way too much sense to ignore. The financial implications for a club of such size aren't really worth mentioning, which makes it illogical to accept anything other than a big offer from Real Madrid. You've also got enough to worry about this summer with your outfield players, never mind the one position which is, on paper, 100% sorted right now with VV as backup.

For United, as a business, I'm still finding myself in agreement with those who think he should stay. No, you're not going to get the £20m transfer fee plus wages spent throughout the year back in shirt sales and merchandise, but it draws a line in the sand with the Spanish duo & announces to players coming in that it's about the club before all else.

For what it's worth (nothing ), my opinion? Tell DDG he's not going unless a respectful offer comes in... Because £15-20m for one of the best players in Europe this season, with more than a decade ahead of them, regardless of contractual situation, is just disrespectful drivel that should be ignored.

Conspiracy theory: was our club just a pawn in a greater plan engineered by Mendes? A stepping stone, a bridge from Athletico to Real, an incubator for De Gea's talent with no intention of a long-term stay?

The 'it's not personal, just business' thing runs both ways. We shouldn't hold him against his will but he should do what he can to ensure we get proper compensation. If that means telling Real to up their offer, so be it. We don't have a lot of leverage but I think the transfer ban helps us considerably and we shouldn't be shy about using that to force their hand. Also, if we play him in the August CL qualifier, would he be cup-tied? Another possible negotiating advantage.

The money potentially lost on selling him is worth the gamble. I'm all for selling him if he wants gone, but I'm also all for making sure we don't get fleeced by Real. If that means forcing DDG and Mendes to push Real into paying more, so be it.

I doubt he likes her for her songs mate...

Long distance relationships are hard, if only he succumbed to the temptation and slept around with a few Manc women.

And considering how many female students (college/university level) from all horizons live in Manchester, finding a few hot birds shouldn't be an issue.

Wow, that would make a good script for Goal 4 I guess :p

very nice, won't be surprised if there's another pig head from the Calderon sometime in the future

I still have some hope that he will stay mainly because the love he must've felt when he was walking off yesterday so it won't be an easy decision for him.

Also, i think LVG has to try harder to convince him, like Fergie did with Cantona after the kung fu kick and Ronaldo, and also with Pogba when he asked Rio to speak to him. By just saying "i do not need to persuade him as he knows the how big of a club Utd is" for me is not enough.

There's a little part of me that (naively) thinks he'll stay. However, it's the hope that kills you.

If he did stay it would probably be only for one more season as some sort of gratitude to Utd or something so he'd be as well off to hit the road now and we get a lad in that'll stay and do the job for several years.

I just hope that we will make it difficult for Madrid, and hope that we'll get a good fee for him.

Spanish number one, 24 years and can be their regulat starter for 10 years.

Thank you and goodbye, just have to find a good replacement for him now

We'd seriously better not sell for £12-15m, as I've heard suggested. One more season then let him go on a free of that's the fee.

I think LVG meant that him and the club have done enough to convince him to stay. They wont beg on their knees.
He has an offer, decision is his.

Something is really winding me up here and I'm looking for an answer. Is it imperative for a goalkeeper to play for Real Madrid if he wants to become Spain's number 1? If that's the case, then I just don't get the logic that a country's best player(s) must play for the country's biggest team(s) in order to get a spot. That would be even worse reasoning than England's when it comes to national squad selections.
