He can and may, I am not stopping him. I just think it's shitty of him to do it with only a year remaining on the contract, when we stood by him when the going was tough. This leaves us without any fecking leverage; De Gea and Real have us by the balls in this. When you pay an exorbitant sum for a very raw player and help him develop into one of the top 3 players in this position, then you have a right to be pissed when he decides to bolt at the first fecking opportunity that presents him. The worst part is that we may get lesser than what we paid for him 4 years ago. And it's not that this is his last chance and Real won't come back for him in a couple of years; this is the club that paid 85m fecking pounds for Gareth Bale.
And I don't understand what you mean by, "he has a chance to extend his career further". His career is advancing as good as he can expect playing at United. He is the first choice keeper at one of the top clubs in the world; loved by the fans, players and the management staff; getting paid more than any other keeper. Also, being at United doesn't change his status as a Spanish number one.
More than De Gea, I am mad at our situation. We fecking finished an abysmal 4th and now our best and probably the only legitimate world class player will be leaving for peanuts. We could have done without the distraction of finding a replacement keeper when we had other more pressing concerns.
It's a shit situation. I hate this summer already..
