Seriously, I usually wish our ex-players all the best and have a look now and then to see how they're getting on, but rightly or wrongly I won't be doing this for De Gea. He's really pissed me off with the way he's gone about the whole thing. Dave the snake indeed.

Indeed. Him and his agent have probably been engineering this for a large part of the last 12 months

You are evil!! #freedegea :),once he is the first option in national team everything will be easier
:D

I don't mind him going to you or whoever, it's the way he's gone about it that pisses me off and if it were the other way around - you wouldn't like it either. In any case, can't wait for him to break his foot the first week he starts for you:D

But that's just it, he doesn't want to just go back to Spain - he wants to go to Real Madrid. Not back to Atleti, nothing like that, has his heart set on Madrid. Quite frankly he and his dodgy agent should get on Madrid's case to pay up for him. Why should the club be going through all this stress for his personal preference when it's not ideal for us?
There are a lot of rumors flying around, don't know what to believe, but i did not hear any specific reports about him wanting to only sign for Real Madrid. I think there is a huge difference between Atletico and Barcelona.

This

I wish him all the discomfort footballing wise that playing for that evil empire has to offer

Sorry to say but I am in this camp as well. There is just something about the whole saga which doesnt quite sit right. Virtually anyone should be able to see what an absolute circus Madrid have become.

I guess rather than actively wishing ill on De Gea in Madrid, it is more that when the inevitable shitstorms start occurring, the fans get on his back, Casillas makes his life hell - that my attitude will simply be "told you so" rather than "poor De Gea, he doesnt deserve this"

Cover of Marca "In the exit door", "Madrid accelerates de Gea transfer, teams asking for Casillas are expecting that he will arrive for free" , surprised that they don´t provide more information about Ramos

Exactly how I feel.

I only came in to complain about the other De Gea thread that was started today. I'm on my period.

My 2 cents for De Gea and to all people here... :p Just let this thread be and what will happen will happen, when it happens

If those real madrid bids are true..and DDG would actually go for 15 mil...

Wouldn't that be equal to him staying at Man United for another year with his new "super contract" then leaving for free the year after?

Like theres no use of selling DDG this year if thats true.

Why don't we just put him out to tender and sell him to the highest bidder? Feck everyone.

Since this thread started out as a survey about whether De Gea would stay, can someone point out where it transitions into a thread about his contract situation, so that I can read up? Or more exactly, where the discussion of last summer's attempts to extend him are discussed. Not willing to look through 200 pages.

Many thanks.

Also, seems strange we'd run him down to his last contract year, no buyers last season? Most top young players end up going for big fees, not tiny ones in their last contract year.

He would still have to accept the deal and sign a contract with the new club so not quite that easy.
Ah thought it may not be as simple as that. It happened with Robinho to City though if I'm not mistaken.

This place would go absolutely mental if De Gae does a u turn and signs a 5 year deal!

Amazing what an easy ride De Gea is getting. Played for a couple of years in which he was coached into one of the best goalkeepers in the world and then he's off with resigned thanks. For what?

These are partially my feelings too and have been since the beginning. Fair enough, he has a GF in Spain but he's still being given far too much of an easy ride. I'd certainly have expected him to stay beyond 24 years of age when we signed him. At least Ronaldo gave us a solid 7 years.

He's been a sneaky bastard to be fair and for a supposed quiet, shy and nice guy I don't think he'll come out of this well in the eyes of United fans.

Absolutely. People talk about Ronaldo's personality, but with Ronnie you know exactly where you stand - there's no hypocrisy there. But Dave the supposedly nice guy? Yeah right.

It could be Ramos and his agent using United for an improved contract

Thats what I think is going on.
Plenty of players are now using Man Utd to get improved terms at their current club (or another club).

This whole GF thing in football these days is ridiculous.

If he's not enjoying this saga, then he ought to be honest and ask to leave.
At this point, I suspect he has asked to leave, otherwise he'd have signed a new contract. If he's moving it's in his best interest to get it done early so he can integrate with his new team.

However, I feel that Woody is a bit tired of being bent over by Real Madrid and wants to try to get something in return: either a decent fee, or to take one of their top players in return. Whether it's Ramos or someone else, it feels like there's a lot of weight behind that rumour. If we can't make that work, I hope that we keep hold for another season just to make the point that we can if we want, and although that's really not what DDG needs at this point in his career, he's not exactly showing commitment to us so not sure why we should go out of our way to pander to his needs.

Sorry to ask again, but would someone be so kind as to direct me to the part of the thread where you guys discussed how his contract offer and refusal went down last summer? I'm curious as to why we didn't sell him if he wouldn't resign, or if perhaps we have been planning since that summer to just let his contract run down rather than let him go, considering he's so valuable to us. Hard to put a price on someone who made such a huge difference to our season.

This thread actually started out as a poll about if De Gea would stay, so I can't just go to the front of the thread and start reading. Is there a thread mark perhaps?

I started a new thread to try to get this information but it was closed, so that's not an option.

The silence on his part can at this point basically interpreted as a negative (from the clubs point of view) - as if De Gea had any desire or intention to stay then the logical thing would be for him to come out and say so.

Not saying anything in his position is the same as saying "I want to leave", except less honest or transparent. It is possible that the club have asked him to stay quiet, as by speaking out about his desire to go to Real, we would potentially get a lower price - but if De Gea was concerned about the club getting a good price then the simple thing would be to sign a new contract with a release clause agreed by both parties as fair - something which I am sure the club would be willing to do.

I dont understand why he is valued so low if rumours are to be believed. I know only one year left contractually. BUT he's in top 3 keepers in the world some would argue the best. Age wise he's also got that favourable. We're in the champs league. There aren't many things forcing his price down other than he can leave for free next yr. Which is fine BUT we'll pay him a couple of mil in wages if this drags out til the end of the summer.

I've resigned myself to the fact he's going, and if he does I think Cech is a huge miss. Low price, proven he can handle big club big game pressure. Would have years left, and has gone to a rival. But maybe he wants to stay in London which is rumoured, so maybe he wasnt an option.

Just dont get why De Gea would be anything under 25mil. We bought him for 18. Courtois was bought for 12 or something then loaned out for 3 or 4 seasons.

He is just selling the house because he's moving to live with the love of his life. Juan Mata.
