It doesn't matter what they offer if we don't get a new keeper in. £30 million, £40 etc. still leaves us without a keeper. There's no point selling at this point, we don't need the cash.

So why not play him if there is no point selling?

Either play your best gk or sell him.

This is farcical but not unpredictable.

I don't blame DDG for it. He wants to go, he's going to go, that has been accepted all summer. The club is at fault for this being a talking point on the eve of a new season instead of being ready to hand a start to a new No.1.

She did but no one cared.

The only way, and I mean the only way, she would convince us is that she brings her derriere up North a little more often just like any other WAGs do.

For the record, Ava Ivanovic didn't have a problem joining Schweini in Manchester a few days ago despite how hectic a professional tennis player's schedule is.

Ana usually only plays the first two rounds anyway these days before getting knocked out.

And the bedding in process, too. It really could cost us a lot of points.

Yep. It's looking poorly managed at the moment. There's still about three weeks to go though; might still have been worth it if we get him to stay or get a good player out of Madrid. Maybe we even have a proven replacement like Lloris ready to go.

It makes zero sense to keep him if he isn't going to play. With goalkeepers it is essential that they keep required amount of concentration while in goal. If he cannot do that then we have to sell him now.

I have been saying all Summer, let him go to Madrid for £25m plus Navas which they could probably cough up. A year of his service is not worth all this mess.

Woodward is actually Van Gaal's boss. Van Gaal probably thinks we should sell and Ed doesn't. Once the transfer window closes DDG won't want to sit on a bench all season, he'll quickly sort his head out.

So he is now officially distracted, tragedy. We might as well... The only reason to keep him has been rendered useless. I was so naive to think Dave will just carry on like things are normal, he is human after all.

Seriously?

He's a professional, under contract. Being paid an absolute fortune to perform to a very high standard. If he lets his focus and performance drop because he wants a different job then it's nobody's fault but his own.

Try telling your boss you don't really feel like giving the job 100% because you'd quite fancy working for another company. See how that goes down.

Wow after all our talk about standing up to madrid...They know they can get him on the cheap now, again they get what they want

Well LVG has weakened our negotiation position now.

What LVG was supposed to do? Play someone who isn't ready or not play him and then face the press inquisition? He disarmed a grenade today.

And Madrid would have known Tomorrow.

If that happens then, for me, Woody would have to consider his position - he's staked his reputation on De Gea not going without Ramos coming the other way.
When did he doe this? You want Woody to walk because DDG is throwing a strop? Fecking hell!

Hopefully Sam Johnstone gets the chance, and starts against Spurs tomorrow. Been quality with Preston NE last season, and did very well during pre-season. Give him the chance..

And this, Ladies and Gentlemen, is why it should and must be the last time we give a manager that much power beyond the coaching part. Long live the days we will have a DOF calling the shots and telling the coach to shut his fecking mouth when it comes to transfers and contracts.

Complete farce, the worse kept secret of the summer now comes out the day before our 1st game.

We've got utter dross as back up too why haven't we moved for a quality keeper we all knew he was leaving poor poor poor by the club.

Yes please. Would be amazing if he solved our keeping conundrum. So satisfying.

Didn't we just come out of 26 year relationship that was exactly like this?

Calling Johnstone utter dross is a bit harsh

No didn't mean Johnstone but he's still too raw to be starting keeper at united, our number 1 will most likely be Romero which isn't going to end well for us,

I think I'd prefer Johnstone to start over Romero though.

Stop being such a bunch of utter bellends....For some of you utter miserable titheads it's pretty much impossible for the club to get something right. If we had sold him to Real Madrid for feck all, which is what they were offering, people would have been off their meds about it.

It's simple. Real Madrid weren't offering big enough sums for it to be worth our while. We've taken a gamble that De Gea will be a professional and we'll see what happens once the transfer windows is closed.

What happened last season with Schneiderlin again ?.....

Johnstone was good in pre season with his sweeping. But he wasn't really tested shot stopping wise. It's a big risk telling him to be our number one. We should have got Lloris in.

I don't know why we signed Romero.

Well LVG has weakened our negotiation position now.
How exactly?
Real want him now, United want a certain fee or a player in exchange. De Gea sitting on the bench changes nothing, he goes now for the deal we want or he leaves for free next summer! Too many people are having a good at LVG for no reason what so ever.

So lets get this straight, De Gea throws his toys out out of the pram and its all LVG's fault, or even more hilariously Ed Woodwards fault.

Some people will go out of their way to criticize the club for some reason recently, its infuriating.

How about directing all the anger toward De Gea and /or Madrid?

Has De Gea handed in a transfer request? No

Have Madrid made an offer worth considering? No

So what are we supposed to do? If De Gea has started to feck about ( if he has ) then I just don't see what LVG is supposed to do in this situation other than drop him.

There is just no coach out there able to work like any manager of old. Bring in a DOF and demote the so-called manager to the role of mere head coach.

Yes, but the club knew the consequences of hiring a man like LVG before hand, he can't co-exist with a DOF.

I suspect Johnstone will get the nod having played more for us recently.

Although I see good potential in Johnstone, I don't think I have ever been more nervous at the start of a season than when we played Ben Foster in goal while Edwin was injured.

I don't know why we signed Romero.

From his youth years, he was a very good shot stopper, it's the sweeping part that was my worry.

I suspect talks with Real in an advance stage hence DDG not starting. We've lost our best performer, not a good start to the season.

Once this is resolved, one way or the other, I wonder if this thread will make it's way into the classics

Seriously weird situation, though. What the hell is the point of keeping him if we're not going to play him? Real are never going to give us Ramos or the sum we want when they can have him for free next summer.

And why haven't we bought a new goalie if we're not going to play him?

It will be interesting to know the details of this saga after it's over.

Madrid will get DDG on cheap cause he isnt starting tomorrow.

Yes, that's completely logical..

LVG his very honest... too honest I would say.

If it was our beloved Fergie, he would have kicked De Gea already, or pretending a back injury for him
