Think that's for the best.
He said something along the lines of 'the situation won't change until after the deadline' at one point. I'd be inclined to stick to that.

I wouldn't be surprised if LVG sticks with Romero for now. There's still over 2 weeks left in the window. In that time DDG could come out and tell the club he wants to go (doubt it but could). Real could get serious and offer a good fee (again doubt it). Or LVG could just decide actually DDG you had your chance to commit, you didn't so enjoy the bench.
Ultimately if DDG head wasn't right for Spurs I doubt it is now. And I doubt it will be before the transfer window closes. Therefore he's best sticking with Romero to get him used to playing with the team.
That article seems to be from 2010, think you will find the rules have changed.

I knew we would see a change in attitude on the Caf, that we would go from posters saying keep him and let him go on a free rather than sell cheap to RM to what fools we are for doing that. i had said better to sell him then get nothing all along.
RM can feck off. We can absorb the loss if he goes on a free. Message is you don't always get what you want just because you're RM. I say woodward has done well. That said they may cough up before the end of the window.
LvG will play him once it's "safe" to do so, ie when the transfer window closes. This is not a Valdes type of situation, LvG rates and respects De Gea. In fact I'd say he's almost sympathetic towards De Gea's situation, and is taking a pragmatic approach to dealing with it.
I am not sure whether this has been posted before but that is just shows (for the stats nerds) how far DDG has improved his weaknesses in his game. Punching rather than catching the ball has been 'trademark' of these continental 'keepers. Saw the Super Cup game and that Valencia 'keeper (Beto) rather punched the ball (flashily of course) than catching the ball.
Just hope DDG will see how "hard" Real is working towards his acquisition and have a U-turn in his decision and stay with United, signing long term contracts. September is still long way to go though.

I agree completely with another posted, if DDG doesn't sign a contract with us with an agreement he can leave next summer so we don't get dicked on a fee, then we should just swallow the hit send him to the reserves and let him languish with no first team football for a year.

If the player won't show the club the respect it deserves and agree to a contract with an agreement to be allowed to leave next summer for a reasonable fee, then the club shouldn't show respect back. As much as I like DDG, if he is trying to force a free next summer, then we should dump on him and give him no games this year.

What if we were pulling a "he's using them to get a new contract" on Madrid? 
To be honest for Utd £25m isn't too much to lose if he goes on a free, if he's actually going to play and contribute to a successful season. However, if we're uncertain that he'll play to his maximum if the transfer doesn't go through then there should be no hesitation in selling him.
De Gea will not start before the end of the transfer window and of that I`m certain.
Neither should he.
The best solution for all involved will be that De Gea signs a new contract with increased wages and a reasonable release clause. If Madrid want him they would have no issues paying the clause next season, we get De Gea for another year, and De Gea gets paid more.

But De Gea has already told the team that he wants to go..that was reported months ago, with even Duncan Castles who is Mendes mouthpiece confirming it..The fee that United want has probably gone up, considering that it would be difficult for themselves to find a replacement..so its going to take maybe 50 mil euros to get him, which I doubt Madrid will pay...I dont LVG will be that vindictive, he's own job will be on the line if this season goes awry..what I see is Romero seeing out this month, but DDG coming into contention in September..that is what LVG said himself..He's not keeping out his best keeper for nothing after the window.
This place is funny sometimes..Over the last few weeks, it was people complaining about how United were weak and would bend over to Madrid and sell DDG on the cheap..now that we have stood our ground, its whining about how much money we are losing...Aon sponsor our training kit for about 20 mil..the Adidas deal is perfomance based, and a consistent failure to qualify for the UCl means that we lose a lot of that money...He has a contract here, we are just sticking to our side of the deal..and its not like we refused to sell him at any cost, If anything its Madrid who dont want to pay.

Yeah I'd agree with this! Do we want to make a statement or take the money and run? Since it was revealed that DDGs head wasn't right I've wanted us to dig our heels in and keep him. Whether he gets his head right for the season or not I still think we need to make a statement to Real.
The situation is farcical. Just reach a deal that everyone can live with and move on. We have more important issues to address as regards the squad.

Yes, sell your best player with two weeks left in the window..scramble to sign a keeper in that time with everyone and his dog knowing that you are desperate..It has been recently reported that DDG feels fine and that he is willing to play, its lvg that has chosen to keep him out of the team while the issue is being settled, and he himself has said that after the window he will be back into contention...We have done very well here, havent been unreasonable in our demands and gave Real ample time to meet our demands. Real have a decent keeper and can get DDG next season.We get a good keeper that has stabilized our defense, and have a year to scout for a good replacement and sign him for a reasonable price.
Anyone who thinks we'll have the same DDG as last season is seriously deluding themselves. We won't. All that will be on his mind will be the last day of the season, when he can leave and get back to Spain.

There is precedent, plenty of it, so I struggle to see whether this is delusion or just common sense.If he plays poorly he will be dropped, he has a European championship next year playing for a coach he has not fully convinced, so he has all the more reason to play well. These are proffesionals, they do their job well.
Edit: Suarez and modric even had mini-strikes to force the moves through, and gave it up when they realized it was futile.

But De Gea himself probably thought he was leaving this summer, so why didn't that distract him last season? He didn't just decide midway through the Arsenal game that he wanted to go home.
He also has to perform if he wants to get the nod for Euro 16.
I worry that might put our future signing in a spot of bother.

at this stage it seems impossible Dave leaves this season. Whether we still like him or hate him as a person after all this, as a Utd player we should still back him until otherwise. It would be madness to sell him now. Lets see if he is upfor the fight of No.1 GK this season. If not he will sit on the bench most of the year.
The best would be to have DDG for one more season - 25 mio are not a big problem and could be compensated by a good run in the CL because of him. Furthermore we would have the chance to talk to Tottenham in advance and prepare a transfer of Lloris for next season. A transfer of DDG now would be a big problem as there wouldnt be enough time to get someone fitting in.
Why would it? Sell someone for say £20million, who isn't interested (in all accounts) in staying at your club, his head isn't right says the manager...etc

Because we really dont need the money at all..and the manager said he isnt focused..yet sources close to DDG himself say that he is and is very much willing to play, so that isnt a worry..its more of ploy to take away the focus on him in this period..He did add that DDG would be back into contention after the window...He also happens to be our best player..there is no logic to selling your best player for a cut price deal when you would then have to buy an inferior replacement for an inflated price.
We can absolutely afford playing him one year in reserves. But first we should agree a new deal with him with a mutual agreement of him leaving to Madrid next summer for reasonable fee. If he refuses to sign valdes him into u21's. No player is bigger than club and no club will come and take our best players like Madrid does it. Feck them. We need to make our position stronger, we will certainly profit from it later.
There's no need for that though. So long as he doesn't kick up a fuss (which he hasn't), then there's no need to punish him for anything.
Also, if we have the best keeper in the world around - even if its for a year - we should play him.
I would put him in the reserves, but yes, we can afford to in a financial sense..Chelsea did that with Malouda, and he was on even higher wages than DDG is on now.
