Dele Alli is England's best young midfielder playing in Turkey

Did Gerrard and Lampard have his vision and final ball? He's definitely more of a real #10 than either of them i agree, but to say he's not a patch on them....were they even this good at his age?
Gerrard was the best player at the club at his age and an automatic starter for England and always seen as one of the brightest ever midfield talents in English football. Alli is far closer to David Platt than to Gerrard. It's a non comparison.

He’s miles ahead of Lingard.

There’s a reason why he was playing first team football in the Premier League at the age of 19 and Lingard was on loan in the lower leagues until he was halfway through his 23rd year.
Lingard is a late bloomer, SAF called it. Alli is playing 1st team football for Tottenham, despite their good form the last 4 seasons, they are still a small club punching above their level and can afford to accommodate an average player with good stats. But the moment he goes to a big club were he'd be asked to do a lot more, like Lingard and Lukaku, his flaws will be exposed.

Alli while not being top drawer is still a very good player. A nasty little scrote who seems to have a huge chip on his shoulder granted but a good player nontheless

Most overrated player in the PL and got a nasty streak in him!

He's a vile little bastard. He's shown his true character a number of times playing against us, with some really vicious 'tackles' and generally acting like a total wanker.

Player are asked to do a lot more at United than at Spurs? What utter tripe.

Yes, at United players and managers are asked to win trophies playing attractive football.

Actually at United players are asked to win trophies, at Spurs it's not a priority.

So are you telling me that you seriously believe that Spurs players are not asked to win trophies? Is that what you really think? Please tell me this is a pure wind-up.

You don't think that they go into every game trying to win? Or do you not think each player would have bonuses related to trophy wins, etc.?

Winning trophies is a bonus for Spurs players and managers, reason why you see Pochetinho as second come to Jesus.

I thought Spurs go into games to put the pressure on?

Even Palace players go into games trying to win. But every club have its targets and Spurs targets are miles away from United's; a Top4 finish is deemed a success at Spurs, ffs.

Oh my god I've never read so much tripe in my entire life. We can 'afford to accommodate an average player' can we? Spurs players are if anything expected to do more off the ball than United ones, not less. Alli is one of our most talented players on the ball and this season has been contributing far more than just stats.

What is he going to be asked to do at United that Pochettino doesn't ask of him? And don't talk shit about how United are 'expected to win trophies' because that is utterly irrelevant to how he would play on the field for you.

Our target is to win the premier league and to win every competition we are in. We may be a bit away from actually achieving that but that is our target. Why on earth would a club that has finished in the top 3 for the last few seasons not aim to win it?

Are they also asked to sit 10 points lower in the league table? Have they been asked to play in the Europa League next season?

Were they asked to finish below Spurs for the majority of the last 5 seasons?

The utter tripe you've spouted … all in an attempt to somehow 'prove' that some Alli is not miles ahead of Lingard.

really good finisher. good movement, but i get the feeling in a few years he may get found out and won't score anywhere near as many goals.

similar to muller, decent at most things but doesn't really excel at anything. i would much prefer son or erikson over him.

English Thomas Muller, you'll never convince me he's world class no matter how many goals he can score.
He's invisible most of the game nearly everytime, even when he gets on the score sheet.

Whenever I watch him play he never seems to do much, but obviously he is a always a goal threat. I would say his main strengths are his intelligence, movement and finishing abilities, more so than his actual playmaking abilities. In that sense he reminds me a bit of Lampard. I guess he thrives in Tottenhams line-up because a lot of their other players are creative with the ball and they are very effective on the counter.

In addition, he is the type of player you can only like if he plays for your team. A bit dirty, horrible attitude and extremely punchable face.

Thomas Muller played at a world class level for half a decade ffs yet you say it like it's something to be ashamed of.

So today I learned that a player might play worse because he is asked to win trophies while another can play well because he is asked to not win trophies. However, one player is not better than the other. In fact, a team can play well for 4 seasons, but because of reasons their players are worse than their performances.

For the record, I'm rating Lindgard more than I did only two seasons ago, his off the ball movement is actually very smart.

Anybody else want to blatantly prove they've watched him in maximum 2-3 games this season?

He's been far from invisible in most games this season and has often been at the heart of our best performances. He's a very dangerous player and so often has been a match winner in the past. He's far from just a goalscorer and next to Eriksen is our most creative player, but we'll just ignore that in favour of this weird Thomas Muller comparison.

At United he'd be asked to do more like Lukaku is finding that his goals are not enough to make him an undisputed United player.

Spurs have consistently been a better team than United during the two players’ entire careers as first team players at those clubs.

Unless “late bloomer” Lingard peaks at 30, he’ll never be as good a player as Alli was at 19.

At United he'd be asked to do more like Lukaku is finding that his goals are not enough to make him an undisputed United player.

Because Lukaku has very limited technique in terms of basic ability to control a football. Alli has fantastic technique, Lukaku wouldn't be good enough for us either because he'd consistently feck up our attacking play .. it's a totally false comparison.

Alli is one of our best players on the ball. He regularly manages a lot of assists and has a fantastic understanding with Kane. Some of his through passes are absolutely beautiful. All he lacks is a bit more maturity and consistency, but that will come with age, he is still only 22 years old.

Muller has never been world class? :wenger:

Good player playing in a 1 team league. Matter of opinions I guess.

He's a class player. Always rated him and I think Fergie would have loved him. That nasty side isn't always a bad thing.

Do more than consistently scoring, assisting and putting in excellent performances in midfield at the top level for a better team?

Hey man, they're looking for you in the Spurs new stadium thread.

Going into a new season do you really think that Levy and his manager plan that the target is to win the PL, CL, FA and LC? Seriously? Do you really think the investment your club is making are from a club with great ambitions?
I get that the last 4 seasons results in the sort of arrogance and delusion you have developed, but come on, Spurs are a club punching above their true level wihich is top 4 at best.

Are they also asked to sit 10 points lower in the league table? Have they been asked to play in the Europa League next season?

You my friend, you are struggling with a lot of confusions. United are failing to meet their primary targets for numerous reasons. Spurs are punching above their true level and this is obvious to all sane person who doesn't suffer from delusion.

What are people talking about? He d get found out at united? He s currently in a better team that plays better football. If anything, on the pitch, more is expected from him at Tottenham than here, which is why we have players like Lingard and Mata starting often, and are 6th in the league

At United he'd be asked to do more like Lukaku is finding that his goals are not enough to make him an undisputed United player.
Your point is null when the player you re talking about comes from a better team ( at least atm) . Idk if you re just taking the pi**, but if not, you really need to start forming better opinions.

At United he'd be asked to do more like Lukaku is finding that his goals are not enough to make him an undisputed United player.
Spurs play better football than we do at the moment. Lukaku would arguably look more out of place in their team than ours. The problem for Lukaku was the step up in quality, not expectations haha.

Some absolute BS being written here. Thomas Muller average/mediocre? Multiple league titles, deep runs in the CL, an actual treble, and a World Cup winner, and the guy is average?

Being a better team is different from having title ambitions.

Most of the time, us football fans see our players with rose tinted glasses. If he was that good he wouldn't spark too much debate on his true level. Kane or De Bruyne for example are players universally accepted by every football fans around the world. He's at a club of his level.

Tbf I would never want Müller in my team. He scores goals and is overall good but he simply is not the player I want. He is a player, who can score out of nowhere just for standing at the right position but feck me, that's not a "skill" I want in a top team. Same goes for Alli.
Also both of them have a punchable face
