Apparently he wants 200k/week.

City want him - makes sense to ask for that, in fact why not ask for 250k/week? Or 300k/week? The kid has no imagination.

He won't get that at City. He's yet to prove himself on the biggest stage so no one is going to offer him that. Besides, he's 21. What does he expect to happen in 3-5 years when he's in his prime? He wants them to increase it even more? He, and his agent, are out of their minds. I assume he has a more realistic demand but is starting off high.

If he really wants that much, Gill and Fergie should both do what Shaq does and just leave.

All players that care about money more than anything else can go play for City and Chelsea.

Though you'd be mad to believe any such rumor about salary demands. They may be true, but there are about 99 lies for every truth in the football speculation game.

Do you think Nasri deserves the supposedly £185k a week he is receiving right now?

He played in England and did well. There's a difference in that and going from Ligue 1 to the Premier League. If he were doing well in the CL, it would be different. Nasri isn't worth the money he's getting paid, but he was far ahead of where Hazard is when he joined City. Arsenal certainly didn't give him wages that high when he joined from Lyon.

If it weren't for City's lottery win, his transfer fee and wage demands would be much lower. He just thinks that he can ask for it because they're retarded enough to pay a large number of their players similar amounts. If they didn't exist, he'd be asking for probably half of what he supposedly is. City can't keep paying new players that amount if they want to be anywhere close to FFP regulations in the foreseeable future.

well city cant surely sustain that kind of wages for bench warmers like Nasri

Fergies recent comments sounds like we've lost this one to me.

No chance we will be going for him if those stories are true. Sickening to see a young player expecting such inflated wages after just a few years of professional football.

I don't think it's a case of expecting the inflated wages, more a case of being offered the inflated wages. If previous rumours were true we were his preffered destination but Cities wages offer blew us out of the water.

Just have to hope FFP actually works and is enforced.

That or Sheikh Mansour takes off his top to reveal a united shirt, withdraws his funding to City and we get to laugh as they wither and die.

I don't think he is saying we've lost it - Fergie's guess is as good as ours in that he can't control what Newcastle do and can't even guess what Newcastle do. I think he is saying we're not going to win this on goal diff - only the totally deluded would even entertain the idea - but we can win ours and the rest is up to Qpr (unlikely) and Newcastle (possible)

There are plenty of fantasies on the matchday forum predicting a big win vs Swansea, totally overlooking the prospect of ciddy doing likewise with QPR. The goal diff is nigh on impossible but two wins for us and the Geordies doing their bit is a possibility.

I was talking about the Hazard traansfer.

Why the somber mood? Where are those among us who cite the Signalling theory in support of the argument that this transfer is still on?

You know, the signalling theory. It is believed that David Gill can convince anyone to sign for us through the medium of naked sign language. All we need to do is kidnap Hazard on his was to the Etihad and expose him to David Gill, bollock naked, in the back of a limo. He'll sort out the rest.

Does it have to happen in Manchester, or can we send Gill out to foreign lands to hypnotise them with his birthday suit lambada?

I think the intimidation of taking a drive through moss side is a key to this technique working. It usually tips the balance when Dave performs his customary handstand through the sunroof. By this point they're so desperate to play for us, they'll be screaming for Dave to show them where to sign.

I don't know why people get their hopes up over these mega hyped players that the European elite are all interested in. We've never signed any of them and we're not about to start doing so now.*

* Veron - one exception (and that was a fecking disaster anyway).

wow, if that is what Nasri gets for rejecting us for City it makes sense for Hazard to ask for £200k a week

The problem is that because of City he can tell everyone to shutup and go directly to City and say '200k'.........

If it's knocked back.. I'll go elsewhere... 200k. If he gets laughed out of town by City then someone is going to possibly pay close to that.

Do you think any player could walk the corridors of United and go directly to Ferguson and say 200k........ It would never happen.

Nobody is going to pay close to that.

I can't see any other club offering a largely unproven 21 year old from a weaker league more than 100k/week. They have to be mindful of the effect on their other players.

looking like he's city bound. Lille will be playing city in the opening of their new ground. Hopefully bullshit but he's off the list I reckon. Gonna be a lean summer.

United had a interest in signing Yaya Toure, City then offered him £220 000 a week to make sure he joined them, United had a interest in Nasri then City offered him £185 000 a week to make sure he joins them instead. If City thinks United are seriously interested in signing Hazard they will do absolutely everything to make sure Hazard joins them instead, if that includes paying him £200 000 a week so be it. Just remember how desperate they were when it came to signing Tevez and that has cost them like £50 million so far.

This situation isn't new to United, it happened when Chelsea were newly rich too and snagged Essien,Robben,Duff and then Mikel and Ballack instead of United by offering more money.

Ballotelli is on over 120k a week after tax. He was unproven in his own league before he joined them.

That's 240k before tax, where do you get your figures from?

I have to say though, when the king muppet Gambit is despondent about our summer activity this early, that makes me sad.

Bullshit that City are playing Lille for the opening or bullshit that he's off, gambit?

it's rumour but it's not the first time I've heard that figure and there was some research into the highest earning managers on talk sport recently (yes I know) that said he'd would over take Mancini within a year for his overall worth with the ridiculous money he's on which they said was about 240k before tax. That and a few other internet rumblings brings me to the conclusion that he's on around that figure. I'm more than likely wrong as I have no idea but I can only go off internet conjecture.

As Fergie said, its the wages they are offering that we can't compete with. Oh we will sign some players, it just won't be any of the big names, we all hope we'd be in for. Still it won't stop me from posting numerous times in this forum.

I figure we lost out on him when Fergie spoke this week. Unless some dramatic change of heart occurs, this ones done. I don't care what anyone says, they've chosen money over us, each and every time. feck 'em We'll do our usual stuff. Sign some players we've never heard of and find a gem in there.

Bullshit that City are playing Lille for the opening or bullshit that he's off, gambit?

Hopefully bullshit for all of it. Just has that feeling of it's all done now to me.

Anyway, don't worry people, may I introduce our real transfer target for the summer one Lucas Moura.
