Eden Hazard | "I am signing for Chelsea"

Why does everyone want their club to sign the hottest young talent in Europe right now, I have no idea :wenger:

Oh, and that winger nonsense came up again, seems to me he's much better playing through the middle.

I get that. But the chances are, we're signing Kagawa. Knowing that we'll probably have a surplus of attacking options, would you still want to spend £20M that we don't really have spare on another attacking midfielder?

I understand that people would rather have Hazard than Kagawa, but that is becoming increasingly unlikely, yet it seems people either want both, or are being generally ignorant to the the probability of us signing Kagawa.

Manchester United fans were rejoicing on Monday afternoon after it was announced they had beaten "noisy neighbours" Manchester City to the signature of Lille's Eden Hazard.

But their joy was shortlived as it transpired that the story which appeared to come from the club's official website on closer inspection actually orginated from a fake domain: www.rnanutd.com.

The spoof story claimed Hazard was to become the club's first signing of the summer upon his "return from international duty" after United had reached an agreement with Lille.

So good was the gag that ESPN broke the news on their Twitter account only to delete the post minutes later after they had realised they had been duped.

Hazard, 21, is among the most wanted men in European football this summer with United, City and Chelsea leading the chase for his signature.

The Belgian star, who has made no secret of his desire to test himself in the English Premier League, signed off with a hat-trick for Lille last night as the Ligue 1 season came to a close.

And he admitted afterwards that he had received a "good offer" from newly-crowned European champions Chelsea as the battle for his signature looks set to intensify over the coming days.

None of us know how "likely" either of these are, that's the thing.

And most of us would sign a top all round CM before either of these 2.

So whats the craic, he wants to join us but Chelsea came in with a better offer now he is undecided? Is that the gist?

He wanted loads of cash from City, but then Chelsea became European Champions and therefore their truckload of cash became more appealing. As an aside, a bunch of United fans on an internet forum hold some kind of insane idea that he might be interested in going there instead and even make fake websites saying so.

It was a lead in the 3pm show that he says he wants to play for United but they talked to a director at the club who said theres 4 teams in for him. Im wondering why they went with that lead with no concrete reason. Theres no legitimate news sources anymore ffs

So what I just saw on SSN was a load of balls?

That he "wants" to join United?

That's just Sky's guess, nothing more right now. As has been the case all along, his agent will obviously listen to offers from any decent club. I remember Essien "wanted" to join United too, but money talks.

I find it funny that people actually think people thought he'd make an announcement about where he was going after the game.

I think it's pretty clear most on here weren't being serious by calling him a whore and a cock tease for not announcing where he was going after last nights match. People need to twig on that a lot of what is said in this thread is most likely tongue in cheek.

I don't know about that...I'd put nothing past caftards in super muppet mode

Robben wanted to and Nasri also wanted to.

Seems that they prefer to earn more money.

From neutral view, I could understand Hazard chosing City.

I mean he surely not a United fan.He will be getting shit loads of money more at City. And more importantly he is going to stay in Manchester anyways.

Also City winning the league must have changed opinions for him and obviously he believes MAn City have a very good chance of winning a lot of trophies in the future.

So apart from the History part, him choosing Man City is not that absurd.

But as I am a United fan, I really cant answer this question properly.

If you were in his position, and Man City were offering you... let's say £180,000 a week, and United were offering you... say £100,000 a week, what would you do?

Sorry, but, as much as I adore United... I'd choose City every time

How bout if City offered 180,000 and United 150,000?

This is a more likely difference in the offers.

Id choose united as I'm a fan. I would fully expect a non united fan would probably choose City. It's all speculative though. Id imagine if the proposed salaries were a lot closer (say 10-20k a week difference) then money would become less of an issue as far as sealing the deal goes.

United every time, even if they offered the minimum salary package I'd choose United.

If it was any other club and not United then I'd go to whoever pays more.

Not yet because the rest of that trial of thought is....

Eden Hazards first choice would be a move to MUFC providing they pay as well as City or Chelsea.

In that case, I would choose United probably. But only coz I'm a fan. I suspect he's not

I'd do it as a non-fan actually, because of SAF and United's history with talent, especially young talent, compared with Chelsea and the likes of Torres, Robben and City with Robinho and half of the players they now have loaned out over Europe.

The story of Ronaldo alone would make me choose United, it's surely the best for his future, he knows we'll look after him and give him time, just like we have with Nani for example.

Wer'e also the biggest and most successful team in England, playing for us gives you something no other English clubs can offer, idolized by millions and playing in front of 76,000ish fans every week.

All that for just 30k less, which after tax will be even less. Easy decision I'd say.

I think a lot of people are underestimating the pull of United. Yes money is a important factor but if he chooses United he would be working with the best manager in the world, he would double his current wage minimum, play in a team with a proven track record at producing world class talent. There's lots of things we have that no English club can match, we're the bigger brand, we have the biggest club ground etc.

"Sources" is not specific enough to get me excited about it. Basically BBC have spoke to someone who has put on a French accent and assumed that they must know what they are talking about
