Eden Hazard | "I am signing for Chelsea"

The number of a shirt doesn't mean anything anymore in modern football. The day I truly realized that is when Wenger gave Gallas the famous # 10 at Arsenal.I was like "wtf Arsene"

Position wise it doesn't other than when he says "Number 10" he's talking of the role just off the striker.

The actual shirt numbers clearly do mean something. It means nothing now, but Hazard 7 or EH7 could be a product in the future that earns him a lot of money.

Please please please

The thread has snared me. There us no escape until he signs for someone. Damn you redcafe.

SAF has to convince him that Old Trafford is the Garden of Eden

It's snared me too. So much so that I've stopped for a capuccino in Northallerton and the first thing I've done is to log on to the caf for updates. < sad woman !

Not sad at all! I am also interigued by this - couldn't give a shite about the Sneijder thing cause he's old and rapidly going bald but this is interesting!

Talking about shirt numbers, that look beautiful:

Just like any other brand he'd wish to develop could earn him a lot of money.

Hazard spelled backwards is Drazah.

Needed to make my customary post for the day in this thread.

It's pretty clear the 7 shirt of United is iconic and world carry weight any brand would want.

Best 7
Cantona 7
Beckham 7
Ronaldo 7

He'd be daft if he didn't want to write his own chapter in the shirt's history.

In fact is there such an iconic shirt brand associated with a club anywhere in the world. Even Madrid is using it off the back of us.

Apparently he is now going to make an announcement after the England game at Wembley...ffs who does he think he is, Michael Jackson?

Just imagine it...he takes off his Belguim shirt and reveals the club shirt he will be joining!!

I see you're taking it literally as well.

People did the same after he said that he would not announce his future until after Lille's last game in the League. People took that to literally mean that he would be announcing the "winner".

He said he'll announce it after the Belgium friendlies. Not literally name it after the final whistle, he just means that he will not be making any decision while he is focusing on his national team.

Brilliant more people falling for that again.

Robson 7 as well.

Aye, I was thinking more of the Glamour of the shirt and sell-ability though to be honest.

He was a fantastic player for us but he wasn't a "product".

It was actually one of SAF's greatest decisions.

I agree. Experienced head with no real pressure to make the shirt his own. Took all the hype off the shirt post Ronaldo. Anyone that wore it would always be expected to make a mark.

Exactly my thinking.

Why would he feel the need to write history ?
He could want to start another beautiful legacy with another number. He might want to avoid the added pressure of the number 7.Well there are many reasons to say he'd want the number 7 just as many reasons to say he wouldn't want the number.
