England player and another Premier League star set to come out as gay

You make it sound like sports teams have or do not have standards. It all comes down to whether you are good enough or not. Ray Rice slapped his girlfriend and is washed-up. Gone. Adrian Peterson slapped his son and is still an awesome football player. He´s back in the league. They can act all high and mighty in the moment, but in the end it only matters what you can do on the field. The Chilenian buttplugger that Mainz were swearing to release. Back in the team.

Sam was a borderline NFL player going into the draft, who probably thought he´d increase his chances by coming out. It´s actually refreshing and good that nobody was scared to cut him, in fear of possible repercussions and insinuations from the media.

You really think if Rooney came out today, United would cut him tomorrow. Wait that´s a Ray Rice situation. Bad example. :nervous: ;)

Well, Rooney v a college player is a whole different situation. I actually agree with your assessment of him as a player, and agree that if he could play he would be playing. I should have spelled it out better but I was trying to say what's the point? Is everything you have to deal with by doing that worth it? I guess if you're trying to make a statement than more power to you. Things are changing, but I guess I would prefer to keep my personal life behind the scenes regardless of that.

True. A player should not be forced to do it. It´s like the public seems to think that they entitled to a sexual orientation note, when somebody is not checking hetero-sexual. Like you are obligated to inform the public and empower the gay movement.

The biggest backlash would obviously be from some fans, but they´d be as homophobic as they are racist. They cheer a player of African heritage on their own team, but make monkey sounds toward them on the other team. They are not truly deeply racist, just truly deeply stupid.

Except when it comes to a night out and they all congregate together drinking cum/guinness cocktails, fingering each others arses and starting fights.

EDIT: Rugby fans I mean

Wait, what? Like they cum in each other's pints of guinness? Or is there actually a drink called "cum/guinness" cocktail :nervous:

Hopefully Alastair has the inside track on this story like the last time.

I've overplayed it there but there are are several clubs that have used drinking a blend of cum and guinness as an initiation ceremony opener round here. It's a strange thing I've found with rugby lads compared to football lads and it seems to adhere to social stereotypes now I think about it. Rugby lads will involve themselves in all sorts of strange cum drinking, shit molesting, depraved wankery whereas the football lads tend to gravitate towards recreational drugs and party time. I'm sure I'm living in a bubble of stereotypes at times.

I just couldn't care less.

I don't care which straight footballer is banging who so I also don't care which gay one is banging whoever either.

Celebrity culture is easily one of the worst afflictions in modern life.

That said it's not really about that is it. People should feel comfortable about themselves and coming out is I imagine one of the hardest things to do, even if it's often the case that people are completely accepting. Doing it to teammates when you've gotta share showers and share rooms with them a lot, especially with the LAD culture of football must be much, much harder.

I just wish it wasn't deemed newsworthy though.

Robbie Rogers (former Leeds, US international) has had the most success of his career to date since coming out. Maybe it's easier to do in a city like LA than a smaller town, but I still think society is (thankfully) approaching a point where it's roundly considered more taboo to be homophobic than homosexual.

Anyone got a sneaky feeling it's Fellaini?
Nah, can't forget this classic story.

Scourned Scouser Natalie Rooney has revealed love rat Marouane Fellaini's embarassing bedroom tactics.

The blonde babe, cousin of Manchester United star Wayne said she first met afro man Fellaini when they were introduced last month by Everton youth player Jose Baxter.

Fellaini was said to be instantly smitten when he saw a pic of Nat's goregous figure and 32G boobs on Baxter's phone and began texting her instantly.

And it wasn't long before the Everton star, who has been dating long term love Laura Binet, romanced Nat, 19..... by asking her to get her bum out.

The Everton star even dropped his own trousers on their first date. "He kept saying, 'Don't be shy - I will show you mine," complained Nat.

Natalie told the News of the World: "It was so exciting dating my favourite player, but he was only interested in one thing - sex.

"But the sneak didn't tell me he had a girlfriend back in Belgium.

"Had I known I wouldn't have gone near him. Then he had the cheek to dump ME!"

"He would text me in broken English, he wrote: "Com please me only my family no hier Please for me babe."

She agreed to go to his plush flat by Liverpool's Princess Dock.

Nat said: "I thought he looked like Screech the geek from Saved By The Bell, so was a bit 'whatever' about it.

But Fellaini's chat up lines didn't get any smoother and asked the buxom babe if he could see her rear.

"He was trying to say he had seen my bum in a photo and asked if he could see it in real life." said Nat.

"I told him 'no way'. Then he dropped his trousers and mooned right at me. He did have a lovely bum and I slapped it - but still refused to show him mine!"

"He asked to see my boobs, and I love getting them out so I showed him. He said, 'Big, very big!'"

And next week they'll be even BIGGER when Nat flies out to Mills & Mills clinic on the Costa del Sol for a second £3,500 bra-busting op taking her up to a 32JJ.

If it is a current England international then if he hasn't come out before June then it will dominate the run up to the Euros.

It will be a good thing. Not sure why people hate on gays anyway.

Anyway the player they are speculating is ...

Jack Butt-land

They disagree with the act. Also there's the old fashioned thinking of a couple should always be made up of a man and a woman. The aforementioned are 'not natural' to some.

Twitter rumours (so pinch of salt) that it's Mertesacker (although Per is married) and Shaw.

I understand what you mean mate but, why?

He's gay! It doesn't change who he is, why is it a big deal?

Unless someone commits a crime, it shouldn't be a big deal for who or what they are.
It's a big deal because footballers never come out! We need them to do so, so that it becomes normal, and no one gives a shit anymore.

That's my point..Why do people still care? Why is it still waiting to be "normal?!"

If a footballer is gay, I genuinely couldn't give a shit. The only things I care about is if he's good and entertaining, or plays for the scouse

I know. But you're a nice guy. Not everyone is. There remains plenty of weird feckers who think men desiring men is vile and they should be treated as scum.

As a straight man, I'll obviously never understand it(As gay people wouldn't understand me liking women) but, I can't for the life of me understand why this is still a big deal.

I really don't see how this is a big deal  Whoever he is, should just come out, be proud of who he is and carry on playing football.

Indeed!

It's really not you, it's those male sorts amongst us that need to be convinced that liking cocks isn't all that bad.

The reality is, that coming out remains a big deal. If this story is genuine (I really doubt it) then it will be significant.

I have no idea what you're saying here.

I mean, as big as a problem as homophobia is... Star Wars fandom is something else.

Luke Shaw. He always call Depay massive ;)

Honestly, who really cares? Why would we want to know a players sexuality, I care about what you do on the pitch not in your bedroom.
No one should, but in the real world they will get shit loads of abuse, I hope I'm wrong though.
