Euro 2016 qualifiers

Yeah was one of the few good ones and hit the bar at the end. Ever since he got back in the national team right before the world cup he's pretty much one of the first names on the team sheet, after Pjanic, Dzeko and Begovic.
Thank. That is good to hear.

Yeah it was bad. I mean we did dominate and were unlucky I guess, but this is a game we should comfortably win like 4-0, not try and scrape a result.
No idea why Susic persists with his nephew and Vrsajevic over players like Mujdza, Salihovic and Hajrovic though.
Sušić stayed as a coach, I thought he was getting the sack or sthing?

There were rumours that he was going to but he stayed... Not sure who would take over to be honest. The obvious choice would be Halihodzic but he went to Trabzonspor or something like that, but we never contacted him for whatever reason.

Thank. That is good to hear.
Yeah, was a bit worried that he might just collapse after making the mistake with his first touch vs Chelsea but he's not that type of person, doesn't seem to get phased when he makes a mistake and just keeps on going like normal. Was a bit of a mad game to introduce him to the premier league though.

Great day. One of the best performance I've seen live from Iceland. Completely in control. 5th time that Turkey cometo Iceland and tthey've only gotten 1 point here.

Our U-21 qualified for the playoffs tonight as well along with all the big countries. Last U-21 Euro was the first big competition that an Icelandic men's football team qualified for. Hopefully we can make it three in a row.

Exciting times coming up in our football history.

Ramsey is so underwhelming for the national team. Bale doesn't seem to perform any differently from his club side, but Ramsey always looks a shadow of the player he is at Arsenal.

That could happen to anyone to be honest so it did not really worry me after seeing him play because you can tell his class. You are correct that it was a mad game to introduce him to and i was a bit disappointed he didn't come on in the previous 2 games to help see the game out because Barry is dead on his feet after around the 60 minute mark. With our hectic schedule coming up he will be getting quite a few starts i should imagine and i won't be shocked if he displaces Barry from the team come the end of the season despite how good Barry has been for us.

Yeah hopefully. He's got loads of talent and doesn't get overawed by anything, it's just sometimes he gets too cocky like with the backheel. Think Martinez will give him plenty of games though.

Iceland 3 - 0 Turkey
Gylfi Sigurðsson been showing Emre and Turan how its done..

Nice result, and great performance - loved the pace on the attack, though the defence looked shakey at times. Well done to all involved - top of the table isn't a bad place to be at any stage.

Good for ya, the stadium looks a bit weird, it looks so empty and far away from the pitch, guess theres not any better stadiums out there right?

Delighted for the Icelandic national team I have followed your progress for the last decade and feel there are some good times ahead. Lars is a great coach too.

On a separate note hear lots of great things about the nightlife and beautiful women in Reykjavik, have never been, what's it like?

It is far away from the pitch. Not a world class stadium by any means. Typical stadium with a track around it really. It holds a little under 10k in seats and there were 8800 at tonight's game. Doesn't take a lot for it to look empty. Very few Turks followed their team. Less than 50 which is way below their rightful 10%.

Lars came at the right time. Never had as good of a squad to work with but the best part is that we play good football and manage these results playing with two midfielders as full back and a CB pair from FC Kobenhavn and Rotherham with a goalie who's not far from 30 but only has played one season professionally (outside Iceland that is). Good thing is that our U21 side has some prospects in defense and one up and coming goalkeeper so things are really bright because our current team has a low average age. Only one player in our first team in offence that's over 25.

If you like going out on the weekends in general you will love it here. There really is no place like it that I've come into touch with. Women are beautiful all over the country. We're a weird country in that way that the least common eye and hair colors in the world are pretty common here (blonde or reddish hair, blue or green eyes etc.). I don't know why it is that way (or might be perceived that way) but it certainly seems to be the case. One has to judge for himself.

Thank you for the description, it sounds great and a trip is defiantly on my "to do" list in the not too distant future.
As for the national team they are looking like they will only get better and attacking you are great to watch. The game vs the Swiss last year (4-4) was one of the most exciting I have seen in a long time. If you can keep more clean sheets like tonight I can see you doing well this qualifying campaign and hopefully this time around can avoid the lottery of the playoff rounds.

All the best mate

For those interested, here are the extended highlights with Icelandic commentary (it's not the whole 9 minutes)

1st goal at 0:48
2nd goal at 3:14 (red card offense moments before)
3rd goal at 4:04 (a really good goal)

At 5:36 you get a glimpse at what I do for a living

Well, the last thing roots in the relatively small number of settlers, their homogen ancestry in norway and the century-long isolation after colonization. The genetic pool is very small, that's why Iceland has this unique genetic database of every citizen, it's very important for DNA scientists, also because most icelandics can follow their rpots right up to the first years of settlement. Isn't there also this app in Iceland where you can check if you are related to your potential one night stand?

Wow just checked population stat which is Bradford has a bigger population than Iceland. Crazy :annoyed:

The app was talked about in the media that way but that wasn't the idea. It's "Íslendingabók" (translates to "Book of Icelanders"). It's been online for years but Íslensk Erfðagreining (the Icelandic firm that specializes in genetics) had this app made. But yes, you can find out directly how you are related to everyone. Most people are related by the same 6th-8th generation. We consider close relation to be like anyone else, up to 3rd generation (same great grandparents).

We have the same kind of information for the Icelandic horse. One of the reasons it's such a sought after type of horse.

Paulo Bento sacked! Good riddance. One big problem down but i just hope our FA starts implementing real reforms to our football structure.

Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko is likely to miss Bosnia and Herzegovina's Euro 2016 qualifier in Israel on Sunday due to a calf injury, and coach Safet Susic has offered an unusually frank assessment of his side's chances without the lanky target man.

"If Dzeko can't play we will be resigned to playing for a draw against Israel because we have no hope of winning without him," Susic told Bosnian media.

That's the spirit :lol::lol::lol:

Susic is special kind of idiot. He didn't call single striker apart from Dzeko(Ibisevic is injured too).

Attack Attack Attack!!!!

Podolski will score his usual 3-4 goals against countries like Gibraltar

I wouldn't be surprised if we concede first and win after a horrible game 2-1 or something like that. Somehow I doubt Löw is capable of explaining the team how to defend with 3 at the back, he tried that once before against Ukraine and we were 3-0 down at half time

Yeah i think 4-4-2 is always the best formation against countries like San Marino or now Gibraltar

But my predicition is still 11-0 to Germany

Crap lineup, but it really doesn't matter against Gibraltar.
