Europa League 2015/2016

For all you Reds: Adnan is on

Thanks BBRBB, didn't spot it... not a stonewall pen in my opinion (I mean... it's a penalty, but a lot of people wouldn't be outraged if it wasn't given) but good grief, what's wrong with him? It's like he's taken 3 steps back and lost one on the way since 2013.

Just tuned in. Was it a justifiable penalty for Krasnodar?
Looks like Hummels is losing the plot more and more. A shadow of his former self.

Obviously Hummels makes an appaling amount of costly mistakes at the moment, but I think between them he's actually playing pretty well. So it's not necessarly him genuinely turning to shit but maybe more lapses of concentration or whatever you want to call it.

Just as I mentioned it he showed one of his typical interception followed by a lovely through ball to Mkhitaryan.

He has undeniable qualities and that pass was a beauty, but what I admired about him the most in his 2 best seasons was his ability to combine great forward passing with rock solid defense. Without the latter, he's just a liability.

Well but that's what I was trying to say. Generally he's still a very good defender, I see his mistakes rather isolated and not as a sign of him just defending badly. Obviously right now that sort of amounts to the same thing, because no team can afford to have so many feck ups from a single defender, but when it comes to judging Hummels' potential for a recovery it makes a big difference imho.

This looks like one of those games where we'll hit the bar or posts some more time but fail to score.
You heard it here at half time first.

This opens up the possibility for a United - Dortmund draw in round of last 32 then if you don't progress to the CL KO stage. This would be fun. :)

A player like Moutinho is so wasted on a team like Monaco.

Great defending from Laporte.

Also horrible finishing. As the commentator over here said, he had enough time to light a cigarette before scoring and still fecked it up.

Dong-Won is an awesome name.

Ffs, now even the 2nd result in the group goes totally against Augsburg. Everything turned to shit now. If it stays like that, Augsburg need to win 3-1 or better away at Belgrad in the last match. It looked so so good 20 minutes ago.

What are the standing in that group now?

fecking annoying EL matchday.

Qarabag 0 - Spurs 1 FT

Spurs now go through beyond the group stage regardless of what happens in our remaining group game at home to Monaco. Kane with his 10th goal of the season in all competitions.

Athletic is 1st with 12 points, Belgrad 2nd with 9 points and Augsburg 3rd with 6 points. Augsburg play away in Belgrad in the final match and lost the game at home 3-1.

WTF Monaco! 0-2 against Anderlecht.
If French teams can't manage not losing at home against Belgians there will only be PSG in Champion's League in the years to come and the others will fight for Europa.

Don't really care about Dortmund, Schalke won and is through, which is nice for Germany. The only team I cared about today was Augsburg, they actually played really well in most EL games, but found a way to feck it up time and again. Maybe they can pull off a miracle in the last game.

So they have messed up basically. Bilbao needed that though after an awful result at the weekend.

So I watched the whole 90 minutes of Krasnodar - Dortmund and the first 80 minutes of Schalke - Apoel. Both games were your typical bobbly pitch, boring to watch, EL group stage type of games. Dortmund lost 1-0 and it was still 0-0 in the Schalke game. I thought the Augsburg game was on at 9pm due to the usual UEFA match scheduling, but no it was at the same time as the Schalke game. I turned the Augsburg game on in the 75th minute when it was obviously already 2-1 for Augsburg. Hadn't seen a single goal by a team I was rooting for after watching football for 3.5 hours between 5pm and half past 8. Then suddenly my mom calls to talk about what's been happening back home lately. It was a really pointless call and she basically said nothing for 15 minutes. When I came back I had missed Bilbao scoring twice and turning the game around, Schalke's goal, Schalke's missed penalty, and I just now found out that Partizan scored in the last minute against Alkmaar.
Shit night of football!! First world problems.

Bad luck.

Where is van Persie?!

Also why the feck is it always raining in Molde on European nights? Have they moved Aker Stadion to Bergen by any chance?

Watching full Schalke games is so pointless. They're almost always dire besides the few moments of brilliance by one of the young talents. It's the perfect team to watch highlights of, because it's all that's worth watching about them.

Absolutely true and it's been this way for years. I feel like their away games in Madrid and at the Giuseppe Meazza were their only actually watchable games in recent years.

How haven't Fenerbahce scored there? Molde defence parted like Red Sea off a free kick and it's headed right at the keeper from six yards.

As far as I can tell, some decisions have been made, others postponed, many groups still underway.

Group C
1 Krasnodar through
2 Dortmund through
Order theoretically possible but unlikely to change.

Group G
1 Lazio through
2 Saint-Etienne through
Only group in which 1st and 2nd spot cannot change anymore.

Group H
1 Besiktas 9
2 Lok. Moscow 8
3 Sporting 7
Besiktas play at home against Besiktas so nobody is safe yet.

Group I
1 Basel 10
2 Fiorentina 7
3 Pozan 5
4 Belenenses 5
Basel through, rest still have a chance to proceed. Basel play Pozan at home, Fiorentina play Belenenses at home.

Group J
1 Tottenham 10
2 Anderlecht 7
3 Monaco 5
4 Qarabag 4
Tottenham through, rest still have a chance to proceed. Tottenham play Monaco at home, Anderlecht play Qarabag at home.

Group K
1 Schalke 11
2 Sparta Prague 9
Both through, Schalke play Tripolis away, Prague APOEL away.

Group L

1 Atletic Club 12
2 Partizan Belgrade 9
3 Augsburg 6
Bilbao through, Belgrade and Augsburg in direct battle for remaining spot.

Who was that liverpool player who ducked? Not that I blame him
