Europa League 2015/2016

They will want the CL just as much. So that they can fail in it, drop to the EL, win it to get into the CL. It just goes on and on.
Tbf they finished 3rd in a group that had this years semi finalists and last years finalists. No shame in it. Any other group they might have fared better.

Liverpool wouldn´t even be the 7th best team in spain.....
Villarreal are not a football powerhouse, but they are fairly consistent and overall solid. Liverpool is neither of those two things. Those are the reasons why Villarreal is the stronger team and favorite to advance to the final.

Oh reaaaaaally. Tell me more.

They're going to fecking win it, aren't they? Oh God! Watch us grab 4th place and these cnuts win it and take our place
Europa League winners don't take fourth place. There'd be five teams in the CL.

That doesn't happen anymore. Five teams from the same nation can now participate in the Champions League. We'd only have lost in such a scenario if City won the Champions League and didn't make top 4 themselves.

Judging Villareal from one match? They are a damn fine team. Play with such intensity and order at the back. Basically a mini-Atlético since they came back to the first division.

Seems like I need to watch Spanish football more often. But you need to watch it much, much more often. ;)

Mini-Atlectico  Are you a politician? I'm not buying. :p

What's Bailly got to do with you thinking you're better than them? Their whole defence was fantastic. Clyne and Touré were decent enough for the most part for you, but Lovren and especially Moreno were leagues away from their opposite nos.

And I didn't say Bakambu was anything special but he's clearly a good forward - something you lacked yesterday.

With foresight, and now beautifully sweet hindight, let me spell it out to you slowly:

B......A.....I.....L......L.....Y was phenomenal against us in the first leg. Villareal were broken when he got broken.

This smugly positioned high horse is rather comfortable.

It's the Europa League ffs. To get there you have to be fecking SHITE like us this season. I'd rather they win this Shite than "The mersey feck me I'm a muppet" trophy. They can celebrate all they want it's a fecking SHITE tournament and should be put to bed. Who wants to be 17th?
Oh my haha I lolled

That's a relief, but still, we can't have them winning it. Their appalling fans, with their sense of entitlement. There were 2 of them talking bollocks on the train the other morning, I wanted to throw up. eugh

Liverpool have been decent in this competition, they fully deserve their place in the final and I think they'll win it.

It helps that they can completely write off their league season by putting out semi youth teams. odds on more of the same next couple of games

Best comment was from Pool fan pal of mine on facebook, something along the lines of

"that's how you win a major European game"

Major? I thought it was the very very secondary of the two cups here!

It's one of those ''rubbish until you're close to winning it'' competitions like the Capitol One Cup is. No one puts winning the Europa League as one of their aims at the start of the season but it matters when you reach the latter stages. I wasn't even bothered about being in it until we got United/realised top four wasn't going to happen.

I'm happy about it now though obviously. We're one win away from Champions League football.

Yep definitely.
And at least you were in it at the start, so it feels less like a bloody punishment when you get dropped in it as a failed champions league campaign club.
If we're in it next year, it'll feel a little less crap than it did this year.
The only real positive for the likes of me, who also goes to my local club, is that we'd have more games not on the Saturday, so less clashes!

The thing is that when you think about how hard it is to get top four for anyone now in the Premier League it's actually quite handy to be in the Europa League. A side with a decent sized squad and adequate resources can handle a Europa League campaign fairly well.

The trick is not letting it disrupt your league form with the Thursday-Sunday routine but most sides seem to struggle with it. Spurs coped fairly well but they rested players on Thursday and ended up getting comprehensively beaten by Dortmund, whereas we've done the opposite but it's forced Klopp to play weakened sides in the league on Sundays. We might have been closer to the top four without the Europa League games.

I think United would handle it pretty well though. You've got some really good youth players that can do a job for the early stages, then you can bring in the senior players depending on how far you go.

 Sevilla were my horse anyway.

I was glad Liverpool beat Villareal, I'm growing tired of the Spanish domination and the 8th placed team in England knocking out the 4th placed team in Spain was a proper poke back at them.

Also I have no qualms with Liverpool winning it either, 5 English teams in the CL gives us a real chance of enhancing our coefficient advantage over the Italians.

Enjoy your final Scouse lads.
