You're debating racism on the internet and you've never heard the term 'casual racist'?
TBH no. maybe its more of a UK/Irish term.

Suarez, allegedly, though it was acceptable......
What do you reckon the punishment should be? Let's say there is a video with clear audio. Is it worse than spitting on someone? Punching someone?

When is Nani signing for Inter?
Yes
I reckon being a racist or accusing someone of racism is worthy of the same punishment. The guilty player should be sacked.
Sends a great signal out to the world.

Sacked? Fecking hell that's a bit harsh. A huge fine to a charity and a grovelling apology would do for me.

If I did that at work I would be sacked. Are footballers above the rules everyone else lives by?
If I called a colleague or employee of a rival company a fecking cnut I would be sacked. Footballers do it every game. They are not above the rules but the rules are different depending on where you work.
In most offices if someone overheard you saying "feck" in a work environment you'd get, at worst, a chat from your boss. If someone overheard you use the n-word you'd be out on your ear.
Absolutely, but you must admit depending on where you work the rules are different.
Racism and what constitutes racism is a very difficult subject to talk about rationally without it decending into farce and holier-than-thou accusations but I contend it is possible for a footballer to call an opposing footballer in the heat of battle a "nigger" or a black so-and-so or a Jewish this-and-that and not be racist.
If you are in a gladitorial scenario with an opponent and this is how things are played out in football against the backdrop of baying snarling fans it is no wonder you feel free to say the vilest things and it happens all the time.
If there is a problem with racism in football it with the fans not the players.
Patience.

Is the problem being helped by people causing a debate every time the word is typed out, instead of the alternative which everyone will read out in their heads anyway each time that "the n-word" is written? The problem isn't helped by you spraying the word is it now?
and if anybody feels free to say the vilest things and it's race that comes to them that's because they're racist.
Nor by people like you being melodramatic and ignoring context whenever the word has been typed out in this thread. The problem isn't helped by you spraying the word is it now?
Isn't the huge debate that's drawn up every time the word is being typed out what's causing the huge stigma and what causes people to think about the word even more?
Yup, I only feel that it adds to the stigma. Isn't the stigma being taken out of words like whore, faggot and the likes purely because of the fact that it's used so often that nobody is offended by it anymore?I kinda feel that by not spelling it out it gains more impact when someone does. It's just a word. Miss-spelling with an "a" instead of an "er" at the end or "the n-word" seems silly and overly reverent.
That said, i'm white and have never been racially abused in any way so i'll respect those who are offended.
Evra's complaints have been included in Marriner's match report but the referee has also informed the FA and the Premier League that the first he knew of it was after the match. The two players could be seen exchanging words at various points of the second half but it may count against Evra that he did not raise the alleged offence with Marriner during the game.
I can't see any reason why Evra would not mention the alleged abuse to the referee during the game. I hope Mr Marriner is being honest.

That seems odd. What on earth was Evra complaining so intensely about then?
Liverpool calling for a ban for Evra now:
Liverpool want Patrice Evra ban if Luis Suárez race claim is groundless | Football | The Guardian
Wouldn't this constitute racially aggravated harassment and therefore could involve a custodial senstence?
