Evra accuses Suarez of racist remarks | Suarez guilty of racial abuse

Fergie surely made it clear to the players before the match that keeping their calm and discipline was absolutely paramount in the wake of our last few outings at Anfield. He definitely emphasized this to Evra whom he chose for captain ahead of Rio or Fletcher or whoever.

From there to see Evra reacting so angrily and revoltingly as he confronted Suarez and Marinner leaves little room for doubting his post-match statement..

Why would Evra come out and say it if it were false? He's opening himself up for criticism and it would have been easier to say nothing. Liverpool's actions here are disgraceful

Or he's making it up as cover cos he shat himself as Fergie was gonna batter him.

Fergie was hardly going to batter him considering how confident and attack-minded he looked on the ball compared to his recent outings, this in the wake of two full exhausting games for France.

He was arsy all game though - hardly the disciplined approach you said Fergie would have wanted for this game.

Then why do you think Fergie insisted on us playing on the left wing for the whole game, right until the very end as we saw him ordering De Gea to shoot towards the left in what was to be his last clearance of the match.. This while Nani was fresh on the other wing

Clearly because the Evra-Giggs duo was efficient

Whatever - he certainly wasn't 'calm and disciplined' he had an argument with the ref at kick off ffs!

RT Sport: Evra wants to pursue racism claims

Evra wants to pursue racism claims
Monday, 17 October 2011 19:26

Patrice Evra has told Alex Ferguson he wants to pursue his allegation of racism against Liverpool striker Luis Suarez.

Evra was fuming after Manchester United's 1-1 draw at Anfield on Saturday, claiming in an interview with Canal Plus that Suarez had racially abused him on a number of occasions during the game.

Although the full-back feels TV replays will prove his claims, Suarez has denied them strongly, and has been backed by Liverpool.

Ferguson has sought Evra out for a chat ahead of United's Champions League encounter with Otelul Galati in Romania tomorrow.

And the response was unequivocal.

"I spoke to Patrice today. He is adamant he wants to follow it on," said Ferguson.

The controversy came at the end of a game which Ferguson was pleased to report had otherwise passed off without incident.

Prior to Saturday lunchtime's clash, the United boss had urged his club's supporters not to stand during the game, and then pleaded with fans of both sides not to abuse their opponents over the Munich and Hillsborough tragedies respectively.

"It is not an easy one for us," said Ferguson.

"Everyone knows Manchester United and Liverpool have great responsibilities in terms of things that happen on the field.

"Saturday was terrific. Both sets of fans were good. There was not any of that silly chanting we have had in previous years. Both sets of fans deserve praise for that.

"It is not something we would want to level against Liverpool and it is not against Liverpool.

"Obviously Patrice feels very aggrieved at what was said to him.

"It rests in the hands of the FA now."

After leaving Wayne Rooney out of his starting line-up at Anfield because he felt the striker had been mentally affected by the three-match ban he received for his sending off in Montenegro, Ferguson was asked if he was confident Evra was in the right frame of mind to play tomorrow.

"Yes, yes," he replied. "There is no problem."

Just had a read through this thread and similar threads on Liverpool forums, and it seems on both sides the entire point of what has happened has been lost in tribalism.

Its been handled incredibly badly. No one is going to come out of this with any credit by the looks of it. you have two players who will have their reputation trampled on,and one of those wrongly, and we might never find out who was right and wrong in this. If Suarez was racist, he deserves banning, fining, sold and prosecuted. But the evidence seems very thin on the ground, if its there at all.

Evra should not have gone public like this claiming you would see it on the cameras. yet, with all the cameras there in what is the most watched football game on the planet, no evidence has been forthcoming.

If nothing comes of this, it does 2 things. it might prevent other players who have been racially abused coming forward, because they dont want to be seen as a liar, and secondly, it ruins the reputation of one totally innocent footballer.

And from what your manager has said there in the PC, it doesnt seem, (or maybe i'm reading into this the wrong way) that the club are fully backing Evra, it seems almost like he is being left to himself here

Considering the type of club we are, I dont think so. I think you're reading too much into that one.

Or trying to approach a very sensitive and tricky issue with the care that it deserves, rather than trying to score cheap points?

Something a lot of people involved in running LFC could do with thinking about before coming out with outrageous stuff like calling for Evra to be banned, lying about him "playing the race card" in the past etc.

Have the Liverpool board of directors, chairman, or anyone running the club said that? no. And the thing about Evra being banned is an interesting one. Evra is pretty much untouchable here. Even if no proof emerges of any racism, and lets be honest here, if there was proof it would be all over the internet by now, what should happen to Evra? nothing? because thats what will happen. nothing. you're never going to be able to proof 100% that he made it up, if no proof emerges that Suarez racially abused him. so you can roll your eyes all you want, but thats the nuts and bolts of it

I actually believe Evra.

Wouldn't surprise me if Evra if telling the truth but the problem is in proving it.

The dippers were probably targeting Evra from the beginning. That would explain the Downing dive since I don't remember him being a diver at Villa.

Evra should have said something during the game to the linos so they could be on the lookout (earout?) for anything being said.

If nothing is proven, yes nothing should happen to Evra. It will then be his word against Suarez. It does not mean Evra is lying.

If we are serious about stamping out these sort of things, they need to be brought up.

So you are turning this on it's head and claiming Evra the guilty party:rolleyes:

Clown

What exactly has Evra got to gain by making things up? He knows there'll be no action taken unless there's evidence so he has to be confident there is some (even if there isn't)

thats exactly what i mean. he's in a no lose situation here. Whereas Suarez will be tarnished, like Schmeichel was after the aggro with Ian Wright

you having difficulties with reading and understanding what i wrote. it seems like there are a few on here who want the allegations to be true. which is a bit sickening

i dont know. if he has made it up then thats a question only Evra can answer

Liverpool should never have come out with the 'Ban Evra' plea. It's a terrible thing for a football club to do in light of the anti racism movement. They are sending the message out that they think it's less important to admit to harbouring a racist in their ranks, and that it's more important to try to ban rival teams players

you are missing the point. putting the cart before the horse.

any player that brings up such a serious accusation does so because he feels agrieved.

He is not going to go through all this trouble to himself or the other player if there was nothing.

Put your partisan feelings aside and think this through.

Do you really believe Evra made this up just to tarnish Suarez's character?

At the least you must concede that Evra may have misunderstand what Suarez obviously said to him. But Evra said Suarez repeated this several times.

Surez will have to explain what he was saying. Now that may clear all this up.

But for LFC to say that Evra should be be banned if this cannot be proven is extremley infantile thinking.

We'll know for sure in a few years when Suarez comes out with a book called "I didn't call Evra a N*gger, but If I did, This is what I said."

i dont think i am missing the point, and i agree with every point you have made there. but, and this is the big but here, with all those camera's at the ground, for Suarez to have repeated this word 10 times and it never been picked up any any camera, or heard by by other person, then Suarez has either been extremely lucky, or Evra is telling lies/misheard. I'm also curious to what language this was said in. is Evra multi lingual? Suarez barely speaks English, but can speak Spanish and Dutch, and i know Suarez has a set of teeth that he could eat an apple through a letterbox, but surely someone would be able to lipread what was said.

So who did brief every major newspaper with the "Liverpool want Evra banned" story?

And I'm pretty sure the "played the race card three times" guy was from the official website, no?

i dont know. you seem to know more about than i do, maybe you could tell me.

Maybe you should have done your research and came back after your hiatus with a bit of a clue.... Your basically trying to play good cop to the other liverpool supporting poster's bad cop, you've both made your mind up... so let's wait for the truth to come out as it's going around in circles.

And welcome back...

i'm not trying to play anything. i'm just calling it as it is. like i said before, it seems some on here want the allegations to be true. which is a but pathetic. but what i will say is this, if the allegations turn out to be a load of nonsense, Suarez should consider taking legal action against Evra for Slander and or Libel

I think you are, but anyway...

As for this turning out to be nonsense, I assume you mean fabricated? Well I don't see the point in Evra fabricating this but as you alluded to, that's as hard to prove as the original claims. So that's a non-starter, you're distancing yourself (or your club) from the 'Ban Evra!' comments on one hand and then calling for the same/similar on the other... Yes, I think I can see where your coming from...

Jus checked this out to find out who the fuss was over... saw this gem:

It was an absolute honour to share the same room with Rafa Benitez for the second time in a week. A true custodian to the city of Liverpool.

Okay, he's one of those 'Hail Rafa' guys, probably got those 'FACHTS' from RAWK right?
