Fantasy Premier League 18/19

Still pinching myself at how well I've started. Think I'm due a shocking week soon.

Cairney v Burnley (H) or Josh King v Everton (H)? Rest of my team picks itself but I can't decide between these two. Leaning towards Cairney, Fulham looked good v spurs and as their new signings settle I think they could get some goals against a Burnley side that will struggle this season.

Would always go with the one playing Everton this season...their games are going to be full of goals, for an against. King plays further forward too. (note* I constantly make the wrong decision!).

Just put Mendy in, seems like a no brainer as he's bound to get assists.
Exactly, I took a hit to get mendy in after Gw1. My defence consists of four left backs basically "Alonso , Mendy , Schlup;although he plays left-Mid for Cp"

How good does Steve Cook actually look? I've put him in with wildcard to try and make some money on price rises, but it's tempting to keep him in.

Alonso,Mkhi and Zaha will give more points over the season.Never use CDM/CMs in midfield like Kante.

Get TAA instead of Shaw the second Mourinho benches him.

Kante is playing in a more attacking role and he's already been quoted to say that the manager has told him to start getting up top more. For a 5.0m punt in a great team I think he could be a decent cheap backup

I think it’s rather unlikely to pay off considering he’s still the main man for super attacking and very reliable (FPL wise) Liverpool and he’s playing Brighton at home next...

You're right, I just really want Aubamayang in my team at the moment. I've dropped, Eriksen, Sane, Salah and them 3 alone has allowed me to buy Alonso, Mendy Mane and Auba. I don't think that's bad. Worst comes to worse I can bring Salah back in after a few games but my intention is to keep him out as long as I can get away with it.

People talking about dropping Salah... find it strange. Yesterday, he could easily have had 2 or 3 goals on top of his two assists. Madness!
Shhhhhhhh. Let them do it. ;)

I'll probably have egg on my face after GW3 but I want to try something different.

I will post my points difference after the end of GW3.

Even if Kante is not playing as CDM he is still a central CM and he has never been much of a goalscorer. Its kinda a unwritten rule not to use midfielders like Kante but if people want to play Kante/Jorginho/Matic etc be my guest.

I have 0.7 in my savings. Can easily swap a sub like Bennett for someone more expensive like Holebas.

But would it better idea to just keep that in the back for future transfer flexibility?

Took a -4

King, Bernardo, Doherty > Mitrovic, Mkhi, Pereira

Most people will have a 5m midfielder who will most likely be on the bench most weeks unless they have injuries or another cheap player has a difficult game.

Your choices in this price range of 5m or less is someone like Kante/Jorginho etc or a slightly more attacking player from a team from Bournemouth/ Watford who at the start of the season wasn’t nailed on for their position. They may get more points over the course of the season through scoring a couple more goals but chances are they’re gonna be benched for those games and you’ll miss out on them getting points. Whereas by having someone like kante even if he doesn’t score many will consistently grind out points and you know will always be starting if you’ve got to rotate him in.

For example Ryan Fraser who a lot of people seem to be talking about transferring in (highest point scoring midfielder under 6m). Currently valued at 5.5m last year 5 goals, 3 assists. Year before 3 goals, 9 assists. Scored 97 and 100 points respectively.
While kante 1 goal, 2 assists and 1 goal 1 assist. 101 points and 83 points.
Not a lot of difference in numbers of points but frasers points gained due to a lot more goals and assists while not picking up points as consistently each week.

Now if Ryan Fraser turns out to be scoring every week from now on and is going to playing every week then he’s worth spending a bit of extra money on but more than likely will end up with a similar points total as kante.

So you have a choice have someone in your team who you accept will be a bench player but will get you a few points consistently if you need to play him or spend your free transfers chasing a more attacking cheap player who’s currently flavour of the month.

Really considering taking a -4 to get Mané in for Jota. Is it worth it, or should I still stay calm, considering it's only GW3 and I've had a fairly good start?

I think that’s a no brainier, would 100% get Mane for Jota. The latter was hauled off at halftime I believe and he’s started to drop in price already. Mane and Liverpool look fantastic.

90% of teams in one of my main leagues are pretty much identical at the moment which is pretty annoying.

I regret not leaving some money in the bank at the start of the season. After making the mistake of picking Jota over Richarlison, I didn't act quick enough to swap them after gw1 and it cost me. My transfers should have been -

GW1 - Jota > Richarlison
GW2 - King > Zaha

instead i've had to do

GW1 - hold because I didn't act quick enough
GW2 - Jota > Richarlison & King > Wilson with a poxy £04.m in the bank that is pretty useless to me. Stopped me from doing the aforementioned Zaha switch or something like Davies > Alonso. Ah well, you live and learn.

Ederson
Rob Mendy Alonso
Salah Mane Rich Miki
Aguero Wilson Ings

Thats the template XI for GW3, likely to score 80pts thought tbf.

Yeah that's about right - I have 8 of those players.

I've just bought in Auba though, who I expect to score well over the next 6/7/8 gameweeks.

My biggest mistakes so far:

- Picking Jota over Richarlison
- Picking King over Wilson
- Picking Eriksen over Mane

Alternative is Fraser 5th Mid and Zaha with Aguero up top.

I'm debating -4 to do B.Silva to Miki, is it worth it?

Don't do a -4 for something unnecessary, is good advice from my experience in the past. It doesn't seem like much but can make all the difference at the end of the season.

I wouldn't take a hit for that. I'd find a way to get Mkhi in for free over the next few weeks whilst trying to keep B.Silva personally.

Jesus the price changes are crazy this year.

My starting 11 for next week
----------Ederson
Mendy - Robertson - Alonso - Peltier
----- Mane - Salah - Richarlison
------ Aguero - Ings - Zaha

Would have Wan-Bissaka starting, but suspended. Leaves me with Jota and Cairney on the bench. Really might change them for Hughes and Kante after GW4. Will allow me to upgrade on Ings or Zaha.

Problem with that is, the next forward you would want is probably Firmino (9.5) or Auba (11) and that's a big jump.

Brought in Zaha.

Need to bench one of TAA, Neves and Jota. Neves on the bench unless something changes.

Will sane most likely start this weekend?

Impossible to say really, unless Pep has stated something in a press conference.

The City rotation is always going to be a headache. I briefly considered getting in both Aguero and Jesus upfront to help combat this.

Even after scoring a hattrick, I wouldn't be completely shocked if Pep benched Aguero for the next game.

True, will probably just buy another expensive defender then

Just spent my two free transfers to replace PVA with Alonso anyway so I can't swap out Jota and Cairney just yet. Means they have two gameweeks to change my mind, utter disappointment so far.

Jesus the price changes are crazy this year.

Yeah they are a bit mad. I only bought Richarlison the other day and he's already gone up twice again. If I was on a wildcard I'd have effectively just made £0.1m for doing nowt.

Incidentally if I was wildcarding now and prices were still base my team would be something like

Ederson (Hamer)
Robertson - Alonso - Mendy (Wan Bissaka - other £4m fodder)
Salah - Mane - Richarlison - Mkhi (£4.5m fodder)
Aguero - Zaha - Ings/Jimenez

I'm 6 transfers away from that so unlikely I'll get there and there's nothing to say that Mitrovic, Wilson, B Silva & Davies won't outscore Zaha, Ings, Mkhi & Alonso over the next few weeks anyway.

Thinking about subbing out De Gea, who'd be a good option to replace him with an easy enough run over the next few games?

Ederson or Allison imo are the best relatively cheaper options. I'd back both to keep more clean sheets over the season. If you're looking for a complete bargain, the usual suspects like Fabianski, Hennessey etc

Thinking about subbing out De Gea, who'd be a good option to replace him with an easy enough run over the next few games?

Arsenal have a great run until gw11 now (will Cech keep his place though?). City look great until they play Liverpool in GW8 and Chelsea have a good run until the play Liverpool in GW7.

my teams average at the moment but I've got £2m still in the bank, 139 points, probably subbing king for Zaha, then Jota for Ricarlison the week after.

Foster, Fabianski

Mendy, Robertson, Shaw (Wan-Biss, 4m)
Mane, Hazard, Lucas Moura, Fraser, (4.5m)
Auba, Aguero, Mitrovic

Have gambled on brining in Hazard early with the hope he starts this weekend
