Fantasy Tournament: World Cup All-Time All-Stars

No, you can be pretty sure he wasn't after him.

 I.can't.breathe

Mind, Jayvin sent him as his first pick earlier so I had much of it out of my system.

=[. Go easy on me it's my first time!! =P.

In all honesty he isn't a terrible full back despite what that one game shoes, and he does a great job going forward so it could be worse ...

Well depends how you used him. He was considered one of the best RBs of his time with Santos. Anto was probably looking for the videos which showcased his poor defending, he wouldn't have posted the bad ones. Also, there are many many right backs and left backs with defensive frailties in football. Most make up for it going forward and that's exactly what this guy does.

No mate, I didn't do any editing, just posted highlights of the one game which supposedly marked him out as a beast... and he was easily the worst player on the pitch, let alone defender. It really looked like slapstick comedy.

As I said, not saying he was the best defender but did a great job going forward. We can stop destroying my team already now =P.

Maybe you should think about picking another rightback as your 12th player, just in case you draw Anto .

Yeah, I am sure you will find videos of Roberto Carlos getting caught out defending as well
As I said, one bad game doesn't make him shit. Also pretty stupid to post it in here to be fair.

It just happened to be the FIFA All-Star game at Wembley, apparently his inclusion "proved" he was World Class. Or that the guy picked to manage Rest of the World was Chilean (he was, no kidding).

Let me put it this way, if you want an attacking right-back/right midfielder you are fine. If you expect him to be anything but a defensive liability you aren't. Who is your right CB? He'll be busy covering his arse all game.

Desailly and Valera will be deep, so there is a silver lining.

In the last draft I had Netto (a midfielder) and I think De Boer? At full back.

How did that go? ;)

TBH, there aren't as many arse-ripping wingers here as in the previous all-time drafts. Best and Giggs are out, for starters, then you have the likes of Cristiano who by all means isn't the same beast in this, etc.

I mentioned earlier how surprised I was at the run on fullbacks. When I picked Facchetti 5th in the All-time draft it was regarded as a bit moronic because peple didn't mind about fullbacks. An Eyzaguirre, Cutch RB, Cutch RB and Aldo LB later people seem to have gone to the other extreme.

Eyzaguirre will be absolutely fine, unless you need him to defend. If he is dealing with a wingerless formation he will be fine battling with a wingback.

Very odd draft this one. If there is any draft where the amazing offensive wing-back will shine it is this one. There are 1-3 teams at max that can hurt you for having a wing-back bombing forward so I wouldn't be overly worried about how they have been received before.

Had no clue before this draft how common it is for the best wingers to fail to perform at their highest level in the world-cup. Usually the defensive wing-back is preferred as he is up against Cristiano Ronaldo - but this time it will be Roberto Carlos being up against Cafu. It becomes a 1 vs 1 between two wing-backs instead.

Uncanny how similar that is to what I just said... Bollocks, you are going to upset me with your next pick, aren't you?

Desailly and Valera will be deep, so there is a silver lining.

I hope you mean Nasazzi there. Well, there you go, someone used to defend as two at the back. Shouldn't be too bad. Seriously though, forget about the draft and watch the clip, it's hilarious. I had actually watched a couple of his games in 62 and thought he was a liability but couldn't expect people to go watch them, then I found that and couldn't stop laughing for a week.

Haha mate, I did watch, and I was laughing and crying at the same time =P. A part of me died when I realised a Daglish-on-Suarez style defence of the player would be necessary =P

Desert, you do realise you have one too many post-70 players right? So long as you don't plan to play them all...

Didn't understand at the time why he had Pirlo/Makelele/Busquets who'll all presumably be operating in the same sort of area, so maybe 1 of them will miss out. Its either that or benching Messi

It'll be a total clusterfeck if he gets drawn against Theon's 10-fest.

Crappy said, you should PM pippa and not him for his next pick, just in case you missed his post.

Lookin forward to the draw now to see the matchups, well bored of the drafting by now. Slowest ever!

It's excruciating, particularly when you have your XI picked in round 2, so far only one miss there, which is what would make it all the more infuriating if after all this time I start running into trouble.

Hoping for a kind draw myself, it wouldn't be fair for Underdogs United to get raped before they get into the swing of things.

Will underdogs united be the theme throughout? You'll find it very hard surely to turn down the flashy name reinforcements?

Is Fergus around? I have a XMAS dinner to attend but seeing as Balu is around I could wait a wee bit.

As I said, I'm looking at four reinforcements I would like to make. The look and feel of it would remain though as part of that is trying to squeeze in Denmark 86.

Let's put it this way, I will never have to worry about the winner quota at all.

Of cours eit all largely depends on who goes out. If those players are not available then I may have to go in a different direction. Don't think so though.

It looks excellent. You and Gio certainly looking good on the non winner front.

Crappy/pippa's pick

DM: Mauro Silva (Brasil)

Partnering him alongside his midfield partner Dunga, where they won the 1994 World Cup together.
