FC Bayern 2015/16

Somehow I missed this. Greek Police clash with Bayern supporters. There was no indication of violence from the fans, and this happened before kickoff. What do you think of this? @Balu @Blackwidow

People on twitter saying it's political.

My source says: Greek fans started throwing bottles into the Bayern block, the Bayern supporters reacted mostly verbally, then the police came and drew their sticks, mostly against the german fans. Official police statement is the they acted against fans that were provocative and had disguised themselves. Maybe they shouldn't have used Angela Merkel facemasks...

That`s the thanks for the Germans sending money to Greece.

Some player I knew nothing about before last night (I went to the game, but rarely watch Bayern on TV) is Coman. Where did he come from? I was impressed with him even if the opposition was scandalously lacking in anything other than utter shiteness. Coman was all over the place. Another gem for the next 5 years or more?

Yeah, he looks brilliant. Could be a steal for the 27m we have to pay overall if we choose to use the option to buy him. It's insane that Juve let him leave and loaned Cuadrado from Chelsea as one of their wingers.

no one mentioning Josuah Kimmichs performance? That fella just turned 20 and has about 100min 1st league and 0 min CL experience, yet he played the Alonso role as if he'd done it all his life.

(EDIT: Coman that is.)Another Pogba for Juve, they pinched him off PSG on a free. Lad's another one of them Football Manager wonderkids.

They should have kept him, but worst case scenario, 27m is mostly profit.

Also let's not forget Rafinha's strong performance as a CB for the last 20!

Anyone know and care to tell the story behind the anti Dinamo President Mamic banners that were held up by the Bayern fans last night?

I'm not sure if there's a deeper meaning. I thought it was more a general statement against corruption in football. There were also banners against Blatter yesterday. And aren't Zagreb fans boycotting their own club because of Mamic and his power in Croatian football? Zagreb's manager is his brother and there are a lot of dubious things going on.

But I haven't looked deeper into it, maybe someone else knows more.

5 banners held up in the Südkürve next to one another that together read:

From left to right:

banner 1 - Korruption Betrug
banner 2 - Mord auf rase(n)?
banner 3 - Dinamo Präsident
banner 4 - Ist ein verbrecher (?)
banner 5 - Mamic verpiss dich

Looked to me very targetted at Mamic. Not being a native speaker though, I could have misinterpreted.

The Bayern Ultras have connections to the Zagreb ones, don't know how tight.
I hear that Mamic is considered to be the most corrupt figure in croatian football. Their own ultras think that the last couple of championships were blatantly bought.

he gets a lot of matchtime due to circumstances and has done well so far. He's overshadowed by Costa but that may be a good thing. Considering he was bought more as an option for the future, i think he will be used less once Robbery is available again, but still - promising.

Blimey! That's amazing if it's all true - one thing in particular, that all players have a clause in their contracts stating they will pay Mamic 20% of their current AND ALL FUTURE contract earnings, with the example of Modric at Real who apparently pays Mamic to this day 125k of his 600k monthly earnings. Unfathomable.

Thanks for that link @strongwalker

To answer your question:
Coman (French, 19) is on loan from Juventus for 2 years (7million "rental fee"), after which Bayern have the opportunity to buy him for 21mil.

And we showed support for that? God I love football sometimes... look at the fans sticking together. And I'm learning that on a Manchester United forum. How is this not the best sport in the world? :P

Hope they get it sorted out, corruption is a big thing in ex-Yugoslavia as a Macedonian co-worker keeps telling me whenever she comes back from visiting her relatives.

:D

What bullocks...
Van Gaal did not want him in 2010 - he had Müller for his position and a Kroos that came back from loan. And 2013... Bayern just has won the Champions League - with Götze they already bought the no. 10 - and Guardiola did not even need a no. 10 in his system...

The problem is that the German press cannot be patient - even if Ortis question about the extension in yesterday's press conference was the first time for some weeks.

I fundamentally disagree with the notion that he has to win the CL to be considered a succes in Munich. What kind of impossible standard is that?

So Pep couldn't beat Moyes, Wenger or Pellegrini on English soil.

They beat City 3-1 at the Etihad, no?

Edit: Bayern I mean. I went to that game, pretty sure Pep was the manager at the time.

His record away in the CL is r ally not that great for all the success he has. Shows how difficult this competition is.

They lost a game they were pretty dominant in and got countered by an Arsenal side that had a striker that was useful once Walcott wasn't on the ball any more. On another day it could have been a rout for Bayern.

Conclusion:
Nothing to see here. No need to panic. In fact, it's probably a good thing for them. You don't learn much from victory but you learn a lot from defeat.

False sense of invincibility is never good (although that's only some fans like everywhere) This will probably make Bayern learn going into the season. Their passing in the final third was off today, otherwise they looked good. Credit to arsenal for holding their shape and doing them on the counter, though it took Neueur trying something silly in the first place.

Same story really. With how aggresive Barca are on the counter, and we know madrid will also play like this against them since they have benitez as the manager, cant see how they are going to navigate the massive matches at the end of the season. Reckon another dissapointing end to a CL campaign is in the works for them here.

With that squad I think its a fair standard to expect him to reach the final. Most top managers could win the Bundesliga with that side, Pep wants to be known as the greatest. Naturally he'll be held up to impossible standards.

I doubt that.

The Caf really is weird sometimes. Bayern loses the first match of the season (fully deserved) and that's proof that we won't reach a CL-Final under Guardiola? And if we don't Guardiola won't get the recognition he deserves (especially for his achievements in the Bundesliga) because he didn't win the treble, with Bayern somehow being expected to win the league and the DFB-Pokal. Sometimes I think some football fans just want to see him fail, with all the unreal expectations, it's hilarious.

He has the best squad in the Bundesliga that's why he should be winning that year in year out. No one else comes close. But in the CL, there are two teams with arguably better first 11s and several teams not too far behind. Fir thermite, it's a knockout tournament. One mistake and you're out. I think it's unfair to say he must win it.

Not impressed with Bayern at all, i'd describe them tonight as a lot how i'd imagine Guardiola's Barca team would have been without Messi. Guardiola's teams play nice stuff but was not impressed with their creativity.

For all the fans that want Guardiola here his football seems to have the same negative points everybody hates about LVG.

At least we can put this notion that Bayern are a class above everyone apart from Barca/Real to bed.

You clearly don't watch them regularly.

I'd see how he gets on with bayerns ambitions before giving him an invitation to UTD. It doesn't take much for much managers to alter what van gaal does; if they can take it as a basic approach to build upon.

If he wins the champions league then great. If not; i'd end up believing that the better side went out with hoeness.

Bayern have played some fantastic football this season mate.

It's always silly to paint a picture based on one result, for me today they were never really in second gear, while you could tell arsenal were really up for it from the the first minute.

We don't have to read anything into this result, they have some exceptional players and a top manager, they've played brilliantly so far this season and i fully expect them to beat arsenal in germany.

They looked to me to be susceptible to the same problem Guardiola had at Barca a team who can counter attack with speed and accuracy. If Arsenal can exploit that i'm sure the other big teams can as well.

I'm not saying they are not a very good team but I expected more from them much more especially reading comments from Bayern fans pre match.
