Fergie eyeing January deals

bent!!!   not utd quality........
bent is 22

how can you pass judgement on him?

he does well for charlton
and has done it since he's joined them

why wouldn't he do well for us

He's quick, good finisher, young, and english, has experience of playing in the premiership. I think he is ideal, and would soon play with Rooney for England.

Id be delighted with Hargreaves and that Nigerian striker at Lyn Oslo who is rated very highely. Rossi is great but maybe is more back up for rooney and not saha.

Is this the same Fergie, who was eyeing summer deals and waiting to see what happened with Juventus etc.............

I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't get anybody......I think fans should prepare for that and anything else is a bonus!

Someone needs to send the url to Fergie asap! This is bigger than when Tom Hanks discovered the Holy Grail in that crap movie.

Torres and Parker?

I don't think Newcastle would sell their captain in the middle of the season. But then again, Torres is captain too :nervous:

It's game of two halves.

If you go one down you need to score 2 to win.

Carrick.

we dont need a midfielder, Scholes and Carrick are proving they can work together. Bringing in a purely defensive midfielder would upset the balance.

we do however need to bring in a forward and a wide player to give a better depth to the backup

I agree with the first part. Bringing in a class defensive midfielder like Hargreaves (who we really wont get because Bayern wont budge) would be a mistake as either he or Carrick would have to spend time on the bench and both are too good for that. Fletcher is improving so he provides a decent (ish) backup when required.

The problem is: due to the fact that our first eleven is quality, anyone we buy would either take the place of one of our starters or have to spend time on the bench themselves. Buying a younger player such as Lennon or Torres and keeping them on the bench would hinder their development. Benching Giggs would be criminal and Saha has proven to be class and deserves to keep his starting place (although, as he demonstrated when we still had Ruud, he is proffesional enough to accept a place on the bench).

I'd like Hargreaves but our midfield looks sturdy enough with Carrick in there when i dont think we thought it would. We probably dont have a limitless pot of money so we should get more attacking options. With a couple of players injured we didnt have anybody to turn to and unfortunately Richardson and Smith wouldn't appear to be capable of contributing.

Lennon would be fantastic but i cant imagine Spurs would be willing to let another of their best players join us, we'd have to pay something similar to what we paid for Carrick.

Perhaps we might be able to do what we did last year when we bought Vidic, a player none of us had ever heard of who looks a bargain at £7m.

We definately should buy a striker in January, not Bent though. We really need 3 more players or more to create a comfortable depth in the suad. We can't field the same players week in week out. Especially not in December.

Fergie knows that we stand a really decent chance of challenging Chelsea for the title this year. There are a few games in December, out of which we should win most, and then we will enter new year top of the table with some advantage depending on Chelsea's future performances (they have two tough games coming soon, then a couple of hard fixtures in Christmas period, so they may still drop some points, so may we).

Our start to New Year will pretty much depend on size of our squad. Both Fergie and Glazer know that opportunity like this may not come in years, so yes, I can see United making some transfer moves in January with Bent and Hargreaves being the most likely ones to strengthen our team.

With one or two good moves, we can win it this season.

I think we'll get an attacking RB and Nani, unless Gill goes to Bayern and asks for Hargreaves in a woman's voice, and with 33m tucked into his sphincter

I think now that some complex midfielder who can play in the middle and on the wing too would fit us more than Hargreaves. Somebody like Ribery maybe. Does anybody know how is he doing in Marseille this season? Or somebody else...

As for strikers, Darren Bent would be a good option.

Don't see how we need a RB we have easily enough cover in defence. We definately need more cover up front and in the middle. Young Squad players are what we need, Players who are willing to fight for a starting spot.

Steve Davis would be worth a sniff. Seems like ONeill prefers his old boy Petrov instead. He'd be an excellent backup to Scholes and Carrick

We were intersted in him last year, right? Or at least it was reported.

yeah, before he signed his new contract.
The manager has changed since then though, so it might be worth following up again
