First manager to be sacked 2021/2022 season?

Farke I reckon.

He looked a real soft touch 2 years ago, and if they ship a few more poor results (City, Leicester and Arsenal in their next 3 games), it would be absolute madness for the Norwich owners to just sit by and watch the exact same thing happen again.

For me the side looked completely clueless. Even relegation fodder can string a couple of plays together even if it's against Chelsea. At the very least, the standard english tactics of hoofing it long + hoping for a knock down / playing it down the channel and hold up + cross creates a couple of dangerous moments in a game. We didn't even see that in the game (esp in the first half).

All I saw was repeatedly players trying to dribble through the entire Chelsea backline and giving it away.

I think we'll see a repeat of Gary Neville at Valencia and he'll be off in a couple of months.

Well…guess the first marker I am looking at is this weekend against Brentford. Andersen, Gallagher, Milo and Benteke should all be fit to start so that’ll be a good test of where we’re at.

Yup I hope you're right, Palace are too good to be involved in a relegation scrap. Any links to other managers after Roy retired? Or was it just Vieira out of the blue?

I keep hearing this and tbf first half we were pretty bad but people forget we got humped 4-0 there last season (to Lampard’s Chelsea not Tuchel’s), and that performance was objectively worse than Saturday’s where we at least improved in the second half. We were also without Andersen, Milijovejic, Gallagher, Olise, Benteke and of course Eze at the start of the game. That is 6 of the first 11 missing, what other teams at our level are going to Stamford Bridge and not getting totally outclassed in those circumstances?

We have a tough start playing 6 of last season’s top 8 next, so Vieira will get until at least December IMO. With that in mind I’m going for Arteta even if Vieira does do badly.
Wasn't really the score line for me. It is the fact that, it was the first game of the season, new manager, you're away to one of the top clubs and a local rival, and you stand off. I would have expected Palace to be aggressive and not give Chelsea any space.

2 wins and a draw from their first 7 games isn’t bad at all. Seems a bit OTT but that’s Watford’s normal MO I guess

Ole wouldn't last 10 days at Watford...

Scrap that, Watford wouldn't offer Ole an interview.

Fecking Watford like. They are ridiculous. Nearly promoted, sitting in 14th after 7 games, 4 points clear of the relegation zone. What do they want? Mental!

Become the first manager to lose to Leeds and you get sacked.

To be fair if you sack your manager every week you 'new manager bounce' yourself to the title. Astute business by the Watford board.

Updated odds:

Bruce - 3/1

Nuno - 4/1

Farke - 6/1

Ole - 8/1

Arteta - 9/1

Viera - 12/1

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's 'give me time, give me time' rhetoric wouldn't last 5 minutes at Watford. Forget odds of 8/1, 800/1 would be more appropriate.

I don't think you'd even get odds on Bruce being the second to go now.

That Sky Sports interview with snake eyes... she did everything short of sack him live on air.

Ranieri next. Surprised if he survives the international break.

Bruce is done for. He knows it, everyone does.

I’d love to see him given the money and given a chance but more than likely he’s gone. It’ll be all change behind the scenes now. Upgraded and updated everything. They’ll surely soon be hoovering up loads more talented British kids too.

Yeah would be nice to see him given a chance at least but you’re right I can’t see it happening. 95% of Newcastle fans want him out so in this case it would actually be an own goal for the new ownership to come in and not change the manager.

I wonder if they’ll go for experience and pedigree or someone a bit more fashionable like Gerrard.

City wasted a couple of years under Hughes, no need for Newcastle to do the same under Bruce

Bruce will get until the next transfer window opens. No later. Surely.

Imagine the pressure building if they lose the next couple of games though. They can’t let themselves get cut adrift before they even get the chance to spend some money.

It will be brilliant if they’re in a real relegation scrap.
