Jon should have got the kill because his entire arc is about the NK and White Walkers. Whereas Arya's is about revenge.
My issue with the scene is that it made Jon's story arc kind of pointless that doesn't make me sexist.
Edit: I would absolutely love Arya to be the one to kill Cersei, because it would imho suit Arya's arc much better. Her entire reason for becoming who she is, was Stark vengeance.
Also my comment had nothing to do with Arya's sex, it could well have been sneaky Tyrion or Varys, or a half dead and wounded Theon and it would have felt the same.
This place... anyone who has an issue with a story is either racist, sexist or has a hatred of something... maybe just maybe I don't like ham fisted writing.
I actually thought the episode was very good too but whatever, in fact only BotB and maybe Hardhome are better in my eyes...

I actually thought the futility of his efforts was very well done when he was cornered by the dragon and couldn't do anything. He looked broken.

Honestly didn’t pick up on people being annoyed it was her that “got the kill” instead of another specific character. Thought it was the usual moaning about cool chicks getting pivotal scenes in fantasy/sci fi movies.

I'm only annoyed because none of the characters tied most heavily to the Walkers were involved (i.e. Daenerys, Jon, Bran). So many plotlines and foreshadowing (prophecies and all) evaporating to nothing within a split second... they could always have let Arya strike the final blow after some sort of engagement between the NK and one or all of the three I named, and it would even have gone a long way of fixing the problem of Arya not being noticed up to the attack with some sort of mayhem going on.
Remember there’s a scene in episode 1 of this season where Jon is standing exactly where the NK was, and Ayra creeps up on him leading him to say “How did you sneak up on me?”. We’ve already seen her stealthily avoid all the white walkers in the library, she knows that area well so I’m inclined to let it be that she managed to get past the NK guards to launch the attack. ) but I’m guessing that place really is full of misogynistic tools?Well, you do have to consider that some of those people will have started reading the books back in 1998 when they were initially released. That's a 20 year build up to the White Walker storyline resolution.
So there was 100% certainty it wouldn’t meet their expectations. Handy they can blame feminism, I suppose.

To be fair, he's a good man, principled, and an excellent fighter. Everything Ned taught him. But he was never taught to lead, or strategise. He hasn't been nerfed, it's perfectly consistent with his character arc. He doesn't even want to leaf ffs, just to do the right thing.
I've no problem with Arya getting the kill . They would all be dead if Jon never bent the knee to get everyone involved in the fight so he doesn't lose anything by not getting the final kill .

I like Jon but I also like Arya.
The show has always been about leading you down a path and then doing a complete 180 and taking you somewhere completely different. So the implication that Jon was going to kill the NK then him failing miserably only for Arya to sneak in and make the killing blow was so Game of Thrones.
Just like back in the first episode when you think that Bran has finally hit the target only to turn around and see Arya taking a bow. She's had a habit of upstaging her brothers right from the first episode. I know that Jon is technically he cousin but they grew up as brother and sister. Come to think of it she sneaked in then without any body knowing too.
There's so many subtle & poignant moments in the episode, Jon failing at every thing he tried, Daeny being useless, Greyworm not wanting to die, Sansa & Tyrion bonding, Clegane giving up, Jorah's final sacrifice for Daeny, Mel's return & last act, Arya being silent enough that her blood dropping to the floor is the only thing the walkers notice about her etc.
Yet, the last 20 pages have truly been a depressing read.

Before I read the books and i’d Say before season 4 I thought he was the most boring character in the show but he has grown on me a bit. But now I’m finding him really irritating again. His circumstances have changed but I don’t feel he’s made any great character development. At least Dany has that whole possible mad queen thing about her.
Aye it seems like as long as it's a surprise that's good television to some people. You're not meant to write something just to shock the audience.
An "honourable fool", like Ned.
He's honourable like Ned but different in that Ned was actually a very good commander and a very competent leader, but a mediocre swordsman and not the dashing, heroic figure that Jon is.
Jon is an incredible fighter (the best left in Westeros it seems) but he's not a leader and he's very emotional and prone to acting on passion rather than thinking it through, whereas Ned was more detached.
I think Jon could be more like Brandon Stark, from what we know of him. He's the type of guy that everyone wants to follow because he looks the part, he's a truly gifted swordsman and in general he seems like a leader.
But the reality is that those types aren't necessarily always the best at running things.

He's obviously a cocky cnut. Smiling when he survived dragon fire. Goading and taunting Jon on a few occasions. He even soaked up Bran before he reached for his sword.
Also, if NK was exposed it was when he was fighting two dragons by himself. Not when he was surrounded by hundreds of dead and the WW. Understandably, he'd let his guard down in this instant.

I have, but either in books or tv I don't think that it's immediately good writing just because you take the audience by surprise. It has to make sense and work with the storyline as well, otherwise it's just cheap.
I'm not necessarily saying that was the case with Arya, I think there are solid arguments you can make that it was right she was the one to make the killing blow. But the notion that everything has to be unexpected doesn't sit right with me.

I wasn't saying that makes it good. I find Martin's story ridiculous frankly (overrated as feck to be blunt) but as a tv show it's easy to watch.
I'm pointing out these people crying are also those that wank themselves into oblivion (verbally or otherwise) over a series that is famous for swerving expectations.
