The Lord Commander of the Kingsguard does sit on the Small Council but even then - the King appoints its members at his own will.

The ending really gave closure to everyone. I don't think it will ever be matched.
Tarly is in the Night's Watch so he can't represent anyone and they don't have a say in it. It should have only been either Sansa or Bran. Arya hold's no power except the weird amount of plot power D&D have given her. Brienne is the Lady of Tarth, but I think her father might have power there. Essentially they were all there because D&D wanted them to be there. It made no sense and Sansa interrupting someone's claim to be king should really have got her told to feck off at the least.
Then she just has the North leave the 7 kingdoms because she feels like it, like it's an option to say goodbye to your sovereign rulers and go rule yourself because you feel like it.

And the Stark etho is honor and duty, and Jon’s duty is to feck his aunt and rule, which somehow he absconded?
Ah btw.: What was ultimately the reason now for Jon's arc beeing half Stark and half Targaryen? Just to drive Dany mad? 
So I've read a few pages, and just as expected people are going OTT. I thought the last half of that episode was shite, but that doesn't retroactively destroy a great show.
The first half was good, I enjoyed it and it slowly hyped me up over the episode but then they predictably struggled to close it all off (which was incredible disappointing). What can you do?
Don't worry about Star Wars either, I think this had made it clear that they'll need help with the story side of things. Disney does not feck around....

This is where I take issue. You can enjoy it all you like, but it's so abundantly clear they could have done so much more, not just with this season but with the finale too.
D&D went with the cheesiest, most cliche ridden, cringeworthy shit they could possibly think of. They weren't backed in to a corner, this is the route they've decided for a while.

I've really come to hate time-jumps in TV shows - such a fecking cop-out, we end-up losing the most interesting potential points of characterisation for no good reason, and always ruin any flow or momentum a show/episode has built until that point.
I didn't hate the season, but am disappointed by much of it. It was too short to have been handled like this I feel.

GRRM did as well then. Its broadly the ending he has in mind for the books, he said as much and said he discussed how it all goes with the writers.
Also you're free to dislike the finale but don't say I can too when you want to give laughter smileys at anyone who thought it was a decent end. There's no need to try and act higher or pretentious, just gracefully accept some liked the finale and others didn't.

Bran’s the fecking Three Eyed Raven, he knew exactly what was going to happen. The whole point of both his statements were not that he didn’t want to be Lord of Winterfell or he did want to be King, it was that both were inevitable.
So why did the unsullied take Jon's sword and knife when he was visiting Tyrian for that treasonous conversation?
Surely if they trust Jon with Dany, they can also trust him with a prisoner? No? It's about consistency at the end and there was none this season.
I swear people who are blindly supporting this season and in particular this episode are the most annoying. I honestly feel cheated and I love this show. This was the worst season/plot/story and ending that they could come up with. Any fan can think of a few that would be much, much better than this.
Whilst im not disagreeing with you that they could have written it differnetly, (cos lets be honest everything can be), but what would you suggest on how they should have gone about it without the addition of more episodes (cos that would obviously help but they for some reason decided against it, despite it being the reason they got other projects)
The last season was bad and the final episode was terrible (a good first half hour doesn't change the fact that the entire second half was the worst of any tv show finale ever) and whilst that doesn't destroy the show, it does mean people are going to be left with a massive feeling of disappointment.
Personally I have an urge to go back and watch the show, but the seasons where it was actually well written, made sense and wasn't just pure fan service.
It’s funny, because at the time everyone was complaining about how the show massively declined post-Gus and how giving Walt a heroic ending was a complete betrayal of a five season arc of him becoming a truly irredeemable villain.

Depends what you mean by ending - storyline isn’t that bad - fair enough - execution of the episode - then yes you’re plain wrong.
It’s not being arrogant - if someone had a dumb football opinion like Rashford is better than Ronaldo - they would be called stupid. Same thing applies here - if someone calls that episode well executed TV - you’d be well placed to question their ability to judge TV programmes.
I haven't seen anyone who is blindly supporting this season. And I firmly disagree with you, it's the people who are hating on every single aspect of the season, seemingly just for the sake of it, who are much more annoying.
Most people who still have some positive things to say about the season as a whole and the last episode, like @Mr Pigeon for example, acknowlegde that it hasn't been that good but at least they don't go way OTT with their criticism.

Without defending all the other crap, for this scene, she didnt have Dothraki or Unsullied with her to take Jons sword.
Now you may say, why would she leave herself vulnerable, but how much did she? She probably wanted to be alone, and she had a dragon sitting outside the entrance to burn anybody that was 'an outsider'. In fact, she was embracing Jon the moment it happened.
Theres a lot to be annoyed about with this episode, but i think this isnt one of them.
There's no chance whatsover GRRM's ending is exactly like this. I can see Daenerys going mad and burnings Kings Landing in the books, but it won't be the exact same ending. Nor will it be handled so clumsily in the books or reek so much of fan service where everybody gets what they want. I can tell you now for certain that Bronn will not be made Lord of the fecking Reach in the books because it's totally fecking stupid writing, like most of the final 30 minutes.
You can enjoy whatever you want, why do you care if I find it funny that you think it was a decent end? It's amusing to me that people actually sit through that and are satisfied, yes. Having watched the other 7 seasons you've sat through that episode and thought that was consistent with the quality of the rest of the show? Fair enough, good for you.
I just watch it for escapism. As a spectacle the season delivered. I can join some of the dots up that they didn't bother going into.

Without the addition of new episodes (which yes was necessary, they couldn't satisfyingly close it out in 6 episodes) all they could do was remove one of the Winterfell episodes and have an entire episode dedicated to the fallout after Daenerys gets killed, rather than the weirdly rushed and completely fantastical jump to a council scene of a bunch of nobles, most of which have almost certainly not actually consolidated their power.
It was just a completely unsatisfying ending. Almost anything would have been better, there's plenty of fan fiction out there which actually reads better than the route D&D went down.
Aside from that, we also got objectively terrible scenes like Edmure's thrown in to the finale for little to no reason. That's not even bad writing, it's just D&D deciding to be total feckheads.

As someone who understands that art is subjective, unlike whether or not Rashford can kick a ball better than Ronaldo, I can safely say that what I liked in that episode outweighed what I didn't like. I also can accept that you have a different opinion. What I can't abide is the extreme attitudes you and Squishy seem to have - where people who liked the episode are either fecking idiots or are brushed off with laughing smileys. Not only is it arrogant but it's incredibly pompous.

Jon is reared in a castle with all the education befitting a nobleman. He knew about Westeros history, including the Targaryen dynasty, and their marriage practice. He’s also spent his life as a bastard wanting confirmation. So there’s the most beautiful woman in the world, wet and willing for him, and there’s nothing preventing him from banging her and be King, and everything else at stake, yet somehow he chose the worst option possible?

A lot of people complained. They complained about the machine gun, and the train episode, and how it wasnt the best seasons at all (but had a fantastic episode (think the one with Hank...)).
But the finale of BB wasnt seen as the best, but was deemed decent, especially when compared to Dexter which happened around the same time.

You are being arrogant. You even tagged other posters questioning how they can defend that episode before they even watched it. That’s not good.
But that doesn't make sense now does it? There have been so many hints this season of Greyworm not trusting Jon. Just this episode they nearly have a showdown when he's murdering the Lannister soldiers. Even Dany being vary of Jon that it doesn't make sense that she was left alone.
There were good aspects to the season - the music, the directing, some of the cinematography was mind blowing. The opening to this episode with the charred corpses was sombre and powerful, the scene with the Night King walking up to Bran was incredible, there's lots to appreciate here.
But what separates a great tv show from a bad/average one is the writing and dialogue fundamentally, and that aspect was sorely lacking this season aside from in patches.
I'm not satisfied with how it was told, but I'm satisfied that the ending pieces ended as they were.
I'd rather not have people snarkily laughing if I thought a finale wasn't that bad, bit of a silly question to ask why I have a problem with it. Especially after you followed it up with "you can enjoy it all you like".
As for your bit about GRRMs ending not being the same:
He says the major characters are all in sync with how he plans to end it. The secondary characters are different. To me this means he may decide that Bronn does something else or Brienne is somewhere else, but who ends up being King and what happens to the Stark seems to be aligned with what GRRM planned. He says they had story conferences to make sure the major characters are in sync with what he wants to do in the future books.
