Gareth Bale is...The most expensive player ever?!

Seen as he used to be a leftback

Bale is better defensively than Nani. That he used to be a leftback confirms this. It doesn't hurt his point as you seem to imply.

Prove it.

You want him to prove that Bale is two years younger than Nani?

Read my stats, Nani's much more consistent

If you are referring to post 2125 then I don't think you understand what consistent means. Your stats suggest that Nani is better, they don't say anything about who is more consistent.

Have a look at there medal cabinets and say that

Nani has played on a much better team. I generally think it is impossible for us to judge who is more of a winner or guess at players' mentality and I think it is post hoc guesswork at best. That said, pointing to medal cabinets is a bit silly. Unless you are going to make the case that Edin Dzeko is more of a winner than Ledley King, stuff like this is just a way to say "manutddabest".

Dwindling career?

Premier League (3): 2007–08, 2008–09, 2010–11
Football League Cup (1): 2008–09
FA Community Shield (4): 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011
UEFA Champions League (1): 2007–08
FIFA Club World Cup (1): 2008

PFA Premier League Team of the Year (1): 2010–11
Manchester United Players' Player of the Year (1): 2010–11

Pathetic post.

The FA Community Shield and the FIFA Club World Cup?! Again, team honors are not the end all in debates about which players are better. Stop using them as such.

I think Nani is clearly better than Bale but stuff like this is just...pathetic.

I hardly want to defend Bale but this is just silly.

Daniel Welbeck is a 21 year old striker with a goal scoring rate of 0.25 in the best legue in the world.

Cleverely is still an enigma, but he's played well in every game I've seen him in. He is a very good goalscoring midfielder, (hasn't happened ith the first team yet)

Bale a a winger scores a goal every 5.5 games for Spurs and set up 33
Nani has scored one every 5.3 games for United and set up 49 goals

Bale - 161 games, 33 assists, 29 goals An asisst every 4.8 games, and a goal every 5.5 games

Nani - 191 games, 49 assists, 37 goals An asisst every 3.8 games, and a goal every 5.1 games.

Bale isn't in the elite bracket in my opinion, he's not far off though.

Assists aren't a great stat as it's so dependent on the quality of the finish. Chances created is better, but again like stats it doesn't tell us to what extent the player created a good chance. It could be a 2 yard pass to a player who goes on a dribble before firing wide. The best stat by far is clear cut chances created. These are a much better reflection of when a player has a key role in very clear goals scoring opportunity.

I'm sure due to bias some people will try and argue that it isn't the stat that gives us the clearest picture, but objectively speaking I think it really is the best we have to go on, as it removes so many of the elements that lower the value of assist and chance created stats.

Last season Bale created a clear cut chance every 214 minutes. Nani created one every 352 minutes.

He was a shite left back, he had a record when he played there of never winning something like 20 + games.

Can any of you honestly say you'd rather have Bale in your team then Nani?

Bale is a great player, simple as. Not quite as good as Nani/Valencia, but damn close.

However, him beginning to play more central is baffling.

Having said that, I'd take him here. Better than Young, and a great option to have to rotate with Nani and Valencia.

Some real numpties on here that were the same fans crying their eyes out when we signed Valencia with 90% on here saying all he could do is run fast and send the odd cross in. Same brigade now saying he is the best winger in the world and same brigade that will be saying Bale is the best winger in the world if he ever comes here. Bale is not fit to lase the boots of the likes of the Ryan Giggs of this world but to write him off as being an average overhyped winger is a bit silly. He is clearly more than that and will be staring for a Champions League club this time next year. AVB has clearly not found out how to get the best out of him yet this season like Arry was able to.

I agree.

He's not in the same league as Nani, Valencia or Mata.

He might be in the future, who knows?

Bale's a better winger than Mata imo. Mata isn't even a proper winger.

Well he started off as a winger, but obviously he's best as an inside-forward particularly when he took on Silva's role at Valencia.

Yeah, but that was because Valencia played a system that LM was the only position he could play that didn't have better players(Silva and Villa). He's best as a number 10 or just left of that position for me. Bale is best as an out an out winger. Seeing him pop up in the center is just ridiculous.

Oh 2 games? that's ok sign him up.

Nobody is denying his talents, and if we needed a winger, he'd be one of my first choices, but doesnt mean he's not over rated.

Did I not write he's overrated as well? but no.. lets ignore that completely. That Maicon performance was dreadfully overhyped, I just think he's a good player in general... he's not Ronaldo etc or even Robben for that matter yet.. but he's ambitious and wants to be more than a one dimenstional winger, which deserves credit.

He'd deserve credit if he was trying to make his game more rounded and became a more devastating attacker but it looks more like he's more interested in going for glory and becoming a 'superstar' these days. Shame, he's a good player but perhaps he needs a manager to give him a bit more direction.

Agreed.. the way he's going about it is cringe-worthy.. as in he's trying too hard. That daft celebration he does everytime he scores just adds to the aura that he believes his own hype... what he needs is to leave for a bigger club and be brought down to earth, it'll make him a better player in the long run.

Or be dropped after a poor performance.

Needs a team/manager who will humble him.

As a porper left sided midfielder who covers his full back he could be fantastic, even best in the world at that. However as a winger who doesn't track back, or even worse as an inside forward, he's quite average.

I'd love to have him at City. He'd balance our silly midfield.

At the top level we seem to be the only team who play with two out and out wingers. It seems most top clubs use it as another position for playmakers or strikers who cut in more often than not. (Mata, Silva, Ronaldo, Podolski, Villa, Robben, Nasri etc.) If Bale is one of the best "wingers" in the league, there must be a serious drought of true wingers.

Shearer tried to trademark his one hand celebration.

Bale is a much faster sprinter than Nani. On a defensive side Bale is on another level to Nani too. Bale will probably overtake Nani's stats as he progess's considering Bale is 2 years younger than Nani. Bale is the same age as Cleverley and has done a hell of a lot more in the game than Cleverley so far.
Bale is more consistent in being present in games than Nani who is always in and out of games. Nani is a better dribbler and has a better shot but you get the impression that Bale is much more of a winner than Nani and is the type of player that never gives less than 100% and is more of a team player too.
So overall I think Bale in this moment would be a much bigger asset to a team than Nani even if Nani can be more exciting when he turns it on. I hope Nani has got the kick up the ass he needed now to kick on from here though and kick start his dwindling career.

This is a special line in a special post choc-a-bloc full of specialness. There's a corner and a pointed hat with a big D on it reserved just for you somewhere. It's also clear that right now some poor village dwellers are running around trying to figure out where they've misplaced their idiot.

This made me laugh out loud :D

He scored off a complete mishit, and it was Lennon that did most of the attacking(facing 35 year old Ian Harte). Not sure why Bale is getting so many kudos.

The last one to touch the ball before it goes in is usually the one that gets the kudos...it doesn't usually matter if it's luck, mishit or even a bloody miracle...a goal is a goal but I have to agree Lennon did most of the work

not cool...Will Suarez accept the challenge?

I can't stand him. He's a horrible cnut.

To be fair I don't think that's a dive, he clips the back of his own leg if you look closely. For anyone who watched the game did he claim for a penalty?

They showed it on the news and from the other angle the defender clips his leg which causes him to trip himself.

Looks he his leg is caught to me. He doesn't make any attempt to stay up, but then he doesn't have to.

Agree about his celebrations. It's all went to his head, he already thinks he's ronaldo mk II

He's even had his hair cut like him. And his ears stapled back. I can't stand him.

I'll have to watch the actual footage of course but they are saying on Talksport that he tripped himself, whether by accident or design.
