Gareth Bale is...The most expensive player ever?!

Absolutely, and you can be fouled without being knocked over too. I understand that players feel the need to go to ground to get a decision but it doesn't change the fact they've completely simulated the fall.

If you've been impeded and lost and advantage, it's very unlikely the ref will give a free kick you deserve unless you highlight it. I get your point totally and in ideal world where we can see exactly what happened and stop play for every time a player was unfairly impeded, I'd agree with you. But in reality I think players need to go down when they've been impeded.

Today for example, Bale could have stayed on his feet, but he'd have had to focus on maintaining his balance and not the ball. There is no way he'd have got the FK. We can say that for sure as the ref booked him as he clearly didn't even see any contact, even though there clearly was.

Lynk will be on here soon suggesting Bale even dives like Ronaldo.

As for comparisons with Valencia.. Bale has made strides to improve his weaker foot and add more dimensions to his game.. Antonio seems content with being a limited player.

5 months? I heard until after xmas with a hamstring injury.

5 months might hamper his 2013 Ballon D'or chances so I'll be praying for him

you're having a go at Lynk, but wouldnt a secret love be better the blinding hard-on you have for him?

just sayin'

Why would it? At least I would be honest. Thing is I'm not having a go at him, he is actually pretty funny when he gets going. And its also clear I've no hard on for Bale. I rate him of course, I've highlighted his undoubted ability backed up at times with statistical input. I've also recognised his flaws and areas he needs to improve.

You on the other hand just bark the same shit in a pointless and irrelevant manner. When I suggested something perfectly reasonable and factual a few pages back your reply was distinctly petulant and agenda based.

Cancel football for two weeks.

Also, he's even copying Ronaldo is his reaction to being booked for diving. Please stop this Gareth.

on a side note, Mata scored again and played quite well in a crumbling chelsea side, peach of a free kick off the inside of the post too.

Wheres the mega wankathon and the Mata to Barca/Madrid stories?

He's an embarrassment. I actually cringe when watching him. He genuinely seems to think he's Ronaldo. Stop it Gareth, its embarrassing.

Where is the bale wankathon after this match? This is completely ignoring the fact that mata plays in a much stronger team who have no need to sell him and he has no need to move to win stuff. and that his team lost, you dont get these stories if u score but the team loses.

Edit-SO much stupidity in this post. Guys none of our players are playing well, last time I checked the newspaper not ONE of our players were linked with madrid/barca. Fergie really needs to address this issue, feck winning games we need to get some speculation going.

its disappeared because he sucked, but it'll be in full flow gain after his next decent game, and you know it.

It's like his whole extended family post on here

So both of them had no one wanking after them this time which makes your point moot. Wonder why you made it in the first place.

Bit slow on the uptake aren't you.

It's not a moot point because whenever Bale has a good game you never hear the end of it, on tv, in the papers etc. With Mata the praise isn't as over powering, and thats when he's actually being playing better.

Yeah he plays for Chelsea, who have been less than convincing and don't have a good striker in the team.

Don't get the hate for Bale he's a quality player would love him at OT.

Care to point me to the links where he last had a good game and the whole media went into wankathon mode? And its extremely easy to see why he gets more hype compared to mata.

He is the player that is doing the most in that spurs side, much like fellaini/baines in everton and saurez in liverpool. So all of them are getting the hype for it.

Compared that to the big 3, all of us have match winners who take turns to shine so dont get that much hype as a)its expected of the team and b) the media attention is shared between different stars. Think back to scott parker, if he had displayed the same performance for chelsea no one would have batted an eyelid, it was west ham(?) so thats why he got the award.

Edit-https://www.redcafe.net/f7/juan-mata-362644/

Look at this thread, has anyone mentioned bale once? and you seem to think that mata is underrated compared to bale?

Seriously where are you going with this Mata/Bale comparison? It's pointless.

Just get back to calling Bale a cheating chimp faced fecker it is marginally more interesting.

it's not my fault if it goes right over your head. If you read my posts it's actually really obvious, i imagine it would be obvious to a 5 year old. It's the difference in adulation the two receive.

Jesus H Christ.

I rate him but interestingly he only has assist this season. Shows how much he has changed from a one dimensional winger that was supremely effective at what he did (plus getting goals at the same time). To one who has sacrificed that to get involved in the game more, but possibly at a cost. He should move to a club that will use him in that role and tell him if he doesn't like it he can feck off.

Yes, he may be scoring this year but i'm sure if he stuck to the wing the TEAM would hav more.

Assists only tell you about the conversion rate of chances created. In terms of chances created Bale is still up their with the best in the league.

He should move to a club he can leave straight away? Interesting.

With Defoe scoring like he is, i think Bale should have more assists than that.

I didn't mean it like that. :p

Interesting how some compare him to Ronaldo and Messi in terms of talent and ability, whereas some compare him to Downing - well, not out and out, but still.

He's a quality player, but he's some way from being world class, imo. He's fast, strong and has a good left foot. It is also natural that he wants to move his game up a notch by varying more, but he is a bit selfish atm - I doubt anyone can deny that?

Good on Gareth Bale for trying get out of Steven Sidwell’s way at Craven Cottage on Saturday.
It’s not cheating, it’s sensible.
At full pelt the Tottenham flyer, who weighs 74kg, bears down on opposition defenders at around 23mph.

If he acts the big brave British boy as everyone is screaming out for him to do, then a head-on collision is the equivalent of running into a polar bear weighing 600kg.
No-one is stupid enough to do that.
Why would a player of Bale’s talent put himself at risk of serious injury simply to man-up in front of the opposition and their fans?
He did that before, remember, when Charlie Adam nailed him in 2011 and he spent three months on the sidelines with an ankle ligament injury.
Bale remembers and quite right too. The following summer he was forced off in Tottenham’s pre-season friendly when Adam gave him another nasty reminder following his transfer to Liverpool.

There is bad blood between them and Bale wants to protect his ankles from further punishment.
That is the reason given by Tottenham’s manager Andre Villas-Boas after television replays proved conclusively that Sidwell clipped his winger last weekend.
Bale has become a moving target for the tough-guys ever since his memorable hat-trick against Inter Milan at the San Siro in October 2010.
The Wales midfielder came of age that night and he has been singled out for special treatment ever since.

This is one of the most precocious talents in world football and his breathtaking runs down Tottenham’s left wing should be respected by referees.
Bale’s not a fraud, but no-one can stay on their feet when they believe they are about to be taken out by Brad Guzan, Daniel Agger or Sidwell.
He is establishing a reputation for going to ground too easily, but that’s unfair on a player who is the main attacking thrust in this evolving Tottenham team.

Against Aston Villa last month he felt he had little choice but to take action when he spotted Guzan storming out of the Villa goal in the corner of his left eye.
Sure it looked clumsy, even stupid, but the alternative was to be taken out by a man at full flight weighing 95kg.
Somehow he avoided a caution at White Hart Lane that night, but he hasn’t been so fortunate in his last two games.
Against Liverpool last Wednesday, when Tottenham won 2-1, Bale was cautioned after a collision with Daniel Agger.
Why would he cheat? He set up one and scored a beaut that night, confirming his class in this improving Tottenham team.
He was given another yellow card at Craven Cottage after 23 minutes and yet his team still recorded an impressive 3-0 victory over Fulham.
The sarcastic applause for referee Chris Foy did not help, but his reputation is becoming an increasing source of frustration. He has denied, on several occasions, that he dives deliberately.

Surely he is entitled to take evasive action when he believes he is about to be taken out by the opposition.
The thunderous challenges come thick and fast for players like Bale and over the years he has a developed a physique to deal with most of them.
He would much prefer to side-step them with a dip of the shoulder and sharp acceleration, but it’s not always possible.

The basic premise that this is the Barclays Premier League and that things are differently over here cannot always apply.
Certainly there was no criticism for former England striker Michael Owen when he was asked whether he would dive to win a penalty in the last minute of a World Cup final. He replied ‘yes’ and yet no-one had a problem with that at the time.

There were certainly no complaints when the country went potty after Owen came into contact with Argentina defender Robert Ayala in the penalty area at France 1998.
Perhaps the difference is the blatant attempts to win free-kicks or penalties, the kind of behaviour that appeared to be in Didier Drogba’s blood during his early years in English football. He admitted he ‘dived’ on television, later retracted, but the damage was done.

Team-mates, particularly Chelsea captain John Terry, promised to ‘have a word’ when it had become endemic in his game.
Others, such as Everton skipper Phil Neville, admitted he was ‘stupid’ after he took evasive action when he believed Agger was about to take him out in the Merseyside derby.
When Bale returns from the hamstring injury he picked up during the victory against Fulham, he will be under the microscope more than ever before.
He has been booked six times already this season and two of them have been for simulation. With six goals and one assist for Spurs, it is little wonder people are getting in his way.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...eth-Bale-right-dive-tackles--Neil-Ashton.html

The guy should be allowed to dive, if he doesn't then it's like he's running into a polar bear.

Yes, a fecking polar bear. Would you run into a polar bear? No, I don't think you would so why does Bale have to?

Dive, Gareth, dive to save your career.
