*MPG = Minutes per goal

Bale's on target to beat Ronnies last season with us and double his tally from last season! He's still a fair distance behind Ronnies 06/07 and 07/08. I'm still not convinced by his performance over 90 minutes but you can't help but appreciate his match winning instinct. I'll update again next month, Spurs have 3 tricky fixtures this month in Liverpool (A), Fulham (H) and Swansea (A). Although they do have Defoe back which should actually give Bale a striker to aim at last.

Obviously Bale is becoming a pretty good goal threat, but something I dislike about his present style of play is that he's become really selfish and shoots when he should pass.

That's something I like about Rooney, he scores a lot goals but he's still great teamplayer.

I think Ronaldo can be an extremely selfish player - literally shooting from anywhere.

Far more obviously so than Bale imo.

Yeah, but that's also something I dislike about Ronaldo's game.

Still, he is Ronaldo and he can score with his cock and levitate.

Forget Madrid, let's talk about Bale:

Opta:
Gareth Bale hasn't assisted a Premier League goal for 16 hours & 17 minutes (since Nov 28th 2012). Single-minded.

I'd love it if any of our player could 'imitate' Ronaldo or Messi.

Would people swap Rooney with him ?

Yep. Rooney is no longer the indispensible player he once was, and since his little fiasco in 2009, I've never been keen on him. Let him see that the grass isn't always greener (or that your cow is better than someone else's cow (or that their cow's milk is worse than your cow's)). Plus Bale's younger and in much, much better form.

I'd love to see him at our club. With the likes of him and Welbeck on the counter-attack, such pace.. would be pretty lethal.

He wasn't great tonight to be honest, not much came off for him. But still had a goal and an assist. 25 goals in 40 for club and country is not to be sniffed at.

We can fill for Rooney centrally now with Kagawa, Welbeck, RVP, Cheech and maybe one more striker signing.

Bale will give us more quality on the left cutting in and scoring goals. Plus is younger and gets injured way less than Rooney who picks up knocks almost every season.

I've been somewhat critical of Bale, thinking he's great, but slightly hyped up. However, looking at this season as a whole, he has been brilliant. All players have games where they are near invisible, as does Bale, but he is playing more and more consistent and shows that he isn't just about pace either. I would love him at our club, but not at the expense of Nani, whom I think can be brilliant at his best.

Rooney, yeah, I would swap them. We have quality strikers and Kagawa/Young/Nani/Bale/Welbeck/RVP could all figure in his role behind the striker.

Does anybody think that Bale might want to leave Spurs at the end of the season?

You could say that he'll probably stay if they get in the top 4. But surely he is at a level where he should be fighting for titles, not just getting into the top 4.

I think he will stay. But I wouldn't be shocked or blame him if he wanted to leave.

Would it be fair to say that the pundits got it right and the caf got it wrong? I think so.

I'd agree. The haters have gone very quiet.

The media do hype young players - and as a result people decide they don't like them, even though they'vedone nothing to deserve it other than play well. That said, every once in a while said "hyped" player actually turns out to be something special. I think Bale is one such player.

be interesting to see where he goes, if he leaves Spurs.

He clearly likes being at Spurs and clearly likes AVB (co-incidence or not, his new daughter has been named Alba Violet Bale).

Also, if we finish in the top 4 he'll get a new contract with a very substantial wage rise ... and have the the prospect of CL football.

In addition, I don't think Levy is ready to sell, not least because he's still in the process of seeking a deal for stadium naming rights (for the new stadium) and in this regard knows the value of having a super-star name at the club.

Taken all together, if we finish in the top 4 then I very much doubt that Bale will be leaving this summer.

He was hyped up too much before he was actually very good and consistent. This season he's deserving of a lot of hype although not this Messi and Ronaldo nonsense.
