Hating Lingard

This place is a joke for this.

I've always kinda liked Lingard as a squad player and happy for him to be starting at the moment if he's playing well, but the whole perspective changes on players so quickly here and everything in the future will be based off a few games where that player did really well rather than how they play regularly (Herrera is a good example).
Can you not see that it is just a lack of posting by those with a negative view, and an opportunity for those with a positive opinion of Lingard to show it?
Also, some realising they may have judged him too harshly.
It isn't some kind of bi-polar hive-mind.
That is why generalisations need to be abandoned, to achieve a more balanced view.

OK, Lingered starts as long as he is effective and contributing, and back to the bench when he is less so, or even taken off the bench list if he is not contributing at all. What is wrong with that? If Lingard has cost us 80m or 200K/week wage then perhaps fans would be furious for such status, but this will not be the first - just ask Rooney, Shaw, MK, Mata, Blind, and the list can go on and on. Player should not be selected automatically just because he is the Captain, or he is expensive. He should start only when he can contribute to the team.
Agreed.

I know that, particularly in this case. With Herrera and Fellaini I wouldn't say that was necessarily the case though.
The main issue is players being continuously judged on one or two standout performances and the caf holding on to it and using it in their defence for years. I don't think that'll happen with Lingard but it has with a fair few.

Name a player in the English National Team who on current form is better than Lingard.

Sorry mate you've lost me here what is he can't do if he wants to voice an opinion?
Makes a false statement under the pretence it's factual, gets called out on bullshit and suddenly pretends it's an "opinion" that he's entitled to.

Cognitive dissonance, or just a dickhead?

not a fan of this thread at all

some people question his inclusion (including myself) based on his lack of productivity

he's had a few very good games and I'm delighted like most

I think 99% of fans don't hate Lingard - it isn't personal at all

Who are you referring to here mate?

There's this new fun thing on twitter/general football forums of "LOL United let Zaha go and kept Lingard." They're spot on as well, if you ignore about 50 major reasons why its completely different.

Okay so one deflected goal and suddenly everything came to perfection. Good luck with that because it exactly is the way dear Jesse would use for manipulating your mind. He will have one random lucky shining moment before disappearing for 5 next consecutive matches. It has been over and over again for years, seems people dont want to realize or accept the truth which is not in their favor

Don’t know where to begin with this newb post.. perhaps lobotomy?

Kane
Vardy
Alli
Rashford
Sturridge

...just off the too of my head.

Alli has been disappointing this season ask any Spurs fan .

Sturbridge !!! He can't get in the Liverpool team so how can his current form be better ?

I'm not Lingard's biggest fan but he has done very well in recent weeks and scored some vital goals . When we are at full strength I wouldn't say he should be a starter but he has done more than enough to show what a good squad player he is

They aren't better on current form. Sturridge doesn't even play, Alli is poor this season.

On currently form only Kane would be ahead.
I think so too, he's done really well for us, stepped up when Mata/Mkhitaryan couldn't deliver. I hope Mourinho recognises his contribution.

I think his juicy contract shows Mourinho recognises his worth. Happy for him, this seems like the perfect squad player situation. Youth product, happy in the squad and taken an opportunity when bigger names have let us down.

Out of the 4 players you named, 3 are in poor form. Kane is the only one that you could say matches Lingards form at the moment.

Whats the difference between Dele Alli and Lingard? Nothing except Alli is over hyped by the media and gets to play as a second striker every week.

I can't say I ever hated him, but I never considered him even good enough to be a squad player here. He changed my mind the last 2-3 weeks, and I hope he continues in this form so we can keep him as a useful part of the squad.

I like this post.

Regardless of the various opinions about him, right now, Lingard deserves to be a starter in that team at the moment. He has stepped up pretty well at a time players like Miki, Mata, Herrera have been disappointing while Pogba and Fellaini have either been injured or suspended.

The more I watch that kid, the more I like him. I think most people are judging him based on his past performances. Live the moment a bit, watch him and make your call. He has been fabulous for a few weeks now and that shows he's working hard and improving. He should be praised for this regardless of how poor he could have been before.

Lingaard, Fletcher, Park. We really don't like people that puts in a shift in United, do we?

Alli is also a petulant, dirty feck. SAF would never have allowed him to develop like this;believing in his own hype

Hes done really well and I think can have a place in the squad but we need someone more talented who can unlock defenses with his dribbling and passing. Jesse has good pace, his movement off the ball is good too and his work ethic is his best quality. To me these characteristics is for a squad player.

Many people are critical of Lingard because Lingard is not Hazard or DKB, the same reason that they are critical of Cleverley. Some of their rationale is ridiculous, as if Lingard plays such that Miki can't play, but cannot accept the logic should be the other way round - Lingard plays because Miki and Mata are so poor in form. The disappointment should be directed towards Miki - what has he done so far to prove Mourinho wrong.

Well Cleverley is now at Watford so the criticisms while he was here were absolutely justified. Lingard looks to have far more about him than Cleverley ever did while he was here. Poor comparison really.

Anyhow, plenty of people - myself included - had a massive issue last season when Lingard was getting picked time-and-again despite numerous poor showings, and people wanted to see Mkhitaryan get a proper run in the side. Well now that we've seen that Mkhitaryan isn't going to work here and Mata's form has been flaky at best, most have no problem whatsoever with Lingard playing. Is he the long term solution? Nope. But right now he's the best option that we have and he's generally been impressive when given a chance.

I mean if you want to see disappointment directed at Mkhitaryan, you literally only have to go to his thread on here.

Lingard brings qualities - energy, pace, heart - qualities missing ( at the moment) from the much lauded Mikhi. Someone said that Sturridge is better than Lingard! Well that sumsup his football knowledge. Ali is shit at the moment but im sure he'll recapture form. So really Lingard is an integral part of the team...at the moment. I expect when he has a dip then all of the Lingardophobes will be on here practically crowing about it. In the absence of better players - de Bruyne, Silva et al - who we aint gonna get, lets give the kid a break. Im sure that in time the kids coming through at United - Traore, Gomes, perhaps Chong - might be better but until then Give Jess A Chance

Not really, he is a regular starter at the 9th place team. About what you'd expect from a squad player at a top 4 team.
