As creative force behind a main striker?

Obviously, I pick Dalglish for his achievements in England and in Europe + temperament. :D

Cantona, just plain and simply the King...

Plenty on here have never seen Kenny play.

Not really a fair question.

I Have sen him play a lot, and was a feckin great player, but Cantona just edges it for me, for his cocky attitude and his cheeky flicks.

If u was a united fan u loved him, any other and u hated him, u will never get another player like him.

And the fact you are a manc wouldn't influence your view?

Its pointless to compare players from each club because club bias is impossible to forget.

Cantona is my all time second choice (from all those who played in England of course so I can't have Maradona).

This doesn't shadow the fact that Dalglish had the edge on vision and a shedload more medals that mattered (EC, etc).

But that's what makes it interesting too.

No not at all, i admit Daglish was a great player, one of the main reasons behind your sucess, but the question was who i would rather have in my team, and Cantonas presence alone edges it for me.

But go on Nate, who would you rather have in all honesty?

And that's when you compare how much INFLUENCE a player made to winning all those trophies/medals. Phil = 5%, Cantona = 100%, Dalglish = 100%.

Its just that Dalglish's 100% contains more trophies than Cantona's. Your Phil and Mikey comparisons are not relevant here.

Kenny obviously.

Great vision, good goal scorer a player with pure passion and as committed as they come, plus he isn't French and didn't play for you lot.

;)

Yes but when Cantona played, it was a lot harder then in the days of Daglish, surely u can admit that, but i would say they were both major influences behind our success and we can sit here and argue till the cows come home, at the end of the day, we are gonna say Canotna and Liverpool fans will say Daglish, bit pointless really.

I'd say Dalglish just edges it. Unfortunately Cantona simply didn't live up to his reputation in Europe.

Fecking manc.

Better?

;)

I didnt see Dalglish play in his time, ive seen clips of him etc., and he looked a fantastic player and im sure he was, but Cantona is easily my favourite all-time player, just simply magic.

Just a question, do scousers still sing Dalgish's name on the terraces?

we were 6-2 up against the geordies in one of the best performances in ages, and all you could here was "Cantonnna, Cantonnaa"...

Dalglish and Cantona - two of my all time favourite players and masters of their game.

For me it is Dalglish but only just.

Good point.

Dalglish was a very good player in a great team. Cantona made a a good team great.

Thats a bit unfair though IMO.

You can't blame Kenny for that and you don't know the effect it would have had on Liverpool had he not been playing at that time.

Kenny played with a great team, but he made them even greater.

So do you feel a a main part of your success was down to Kenny? i think not, i feel even if the team didnt have him they still would have won the stuff they did, but i feel without Eric we wouldnt have done aswell as we did.

Pains me to say it but the overall team that Kenny played in, was better then the one Eric did.

At his peak he was our most important and influential player IMO.

You can't judge what we would or would not have won had he not been there, but I doubt it would have been quite as much...

Thanks - and I used it to praise a Liverpool player.

And if you ask my totally unbiased opinion - i'd say King Eric without the shadow of a doubt. He STILL influences players and supporters alike.

As for Dogleash, he never won anything. Never. Liverpool have never come within 100 miles of a championship cup - not in England and definitely not in Europe.

It's all an illusion.

I think Kenny's the best Liverpool player of all time... Cantona just sneeks into our all time top10 list..

Cantona created a bigger impact at OT, (i doubt any other player has been as influential at united).

Who's the best? Both great players...

so they're equals. ;)

I have seen Maradona play. And I have seen some of Johan Cruyff. And I have seen some of George Best.

But, still, the player I idolize is only one - Eric Cantona. He is the player I will love above all else. He is the player who mesmerized me the most. He is the player who gave me the most moments to cheer. He is the player whose style was the most fantastic. He is the player who was the reason for the most exhilirating moment I have had in football. A lot would call me a blind biased fan. Fact is, Cantona is the player I would have fashioned if I had to conjure up an ideal player. In fact, I could not have done it better. Indeed, all his bad boy image just added to his aura.

Now, imagine, I have not even seen Dalglish play. How can I even vouch for him?

For me, an emphatic ERIC CANTONA!!!

Which brings me to ask for a Cantona smiley (something with the collar raised or something like that?)

MauritianRed (it almost sounds like you're in Salford give or take a few thousand miles  ), I am Dumpstar because I wanted to be called Dumpstar. How would you propose I spell my name correctly? Maybe replace the 'D' with a 'D' and an 'a' with an 'a'?

Secondly, I have hit the big three oh. I remember watching the great nights when we won three of our four Euro Cups and I remember when Kenny took over as player/manager. I had loads of arguments at school (between 1983 and 1988) with so many manyoo fans that it made me very ABU. :D

But thanks for your concerns, and maybe the next time you're in the same continent as your team we can probably discuss what its like in the northern hemisphere!

I meant you couldn't write Dogleashe's name right; I don't care what you want to call yerself. I am sorry if my post offended you. BTW I've hit the big 40, but can only vaguely remember KD playing.

And Eric was better than Dalgleish by miles. ;)
