Inter Milan vs. Manchester United

Not normally one for line-ups and the such. But this one is interesting not least because of the defensive 'crisis' we have atm.

Fabio

Ronaldo
Giggs
Carrick
Fletcher
Rooney
Berbatov

Reckon that we need Fletcher's legs in midfield, and although would have preferred him at RB, the injuries of Hargreaves and Anderson give us no other option. We need energy in the middle of the park. Rooney will probably play on the left for most of the game. We might go 4-4-2 for a bit with either Giggs or Fletcher taking wide positions. Can also see either one of Adriano or Ibrahimovic playing slightly wide to use their height advantage over our full backs. Will be tight, most proably a draw, or maybe a team nicking it. Just my tuppence worth though....

0-1

Fletch header.

interesting how Fletcherinho is in almost everybodys starting xi when we have a tough match against top opposition .... and even that he will score the winner!

Wonderful for him to have come so far in such a short time, even in the opinions of the cafe.

I know people are worried about our defence, but I don't think this is enough justification to start Tévez over Berbatov. We'll still have a decent backline and goalkeeper, and we'll (most likely) have hard workers in the midfield such as Park, Fletcher, Giggs, or Carrick (or even Scholes) depending on who is chosen, as well as Rooney up top.

I think the key to Berbatov is that he will hold the ball up, which is less likely from any of our other players. If we can hold the ball up, we're more likely to get players forward in time to cause Inter problems.

I think we can nick it tonight in all honesty, so I'll say:

Inter Milan 1-2 Manchester United

But all in all, I think if we score in Italy, we'll win the tie overall anyway (That's what I said for both games against Roma, so hopefully it'll work again tonight lol).

Starting 11

---------Van der Sar

Fabio Ferdinand O'Shea Evra

Ronaldo Fletcher Carrick Park

------Berbatov Rooney

Subs
Kuszczak
Eckersley
Gibson
Scholes
Giggs
Nani
Tevez

Tough choices to make but thats what I would go with. O'Shea is more likely to make it than Evans. Fabio can handle the RB slot no problem. We simply must control the midfield and keep the ball high up the pitch. Its important that we play with width because I can tell Inter Milan are a very narrow team. Big game performances are needed throughout our squad. We must play to win!

"The thing always happens that you really believe in; and the belief in a thing makes it happen"

I believe we can win this tie, I truly believe with my heart we can do it. Am I saying we definitely will for sure? No I'm not because nothing is definite in this life except death but without belief what can you have? This is our biggest match since Moscow from last year and I have that undeniable feeling running through my veins again, this is the feelings that make these nights so, so special. There's nothing quite like a European night, especially against a team like Inter Milan. We are the Champions of England, Europe and the world. Have faith and always keep the belief for we are United and if we play as our name is, if we play UNITED, then we cannot be beaten.

COME ON UNITED!!!! :devil::devil::devil:

4 hours and seven minutes to go ! *makes chewbacca like sound*

With all this talk about our defense and their strikers, I think everyone is focussing on the wrong issues here, Ibrahimovic, Vidic's suspension, Mourinhos dominance. I have a gut feeling these factors won't play such a major role in the way the game goes (not like last time at the san siro anyway).

I think the main factor will be our attack and to be more specific, Dimitar Berbatov. Unlike an Ace up a proverbial sleeve, he's more like plastered on our forehead, but I believe he will be the key to unlocking a tight Italian defense. This game is perfect for him to ply his trade, and I think this scenario is exactly what Fergie spent over 30 mllion for.

So it is Fabio thats in the squad? Is Rafael injured?
Who is most likely to play at centre-back?

Rafael is injured, yes.

The latest hearsay suggests that both Evans and O'Shea will play. O'Shea seems the most likely, in which case it'll be probably Fletcher at RB, or maybe Fabio.

Really want us to rub that smug gits face in it.Little worried by the defence but feel we will do it.

Park usually starts ties like this but i can't think who might miss out.

1-1.

Alan Green has written us of already

This is what he said on 606 on Saturday night:

"There are four English teams in the last 16 and I think one of them will slip up. I have a bad (yeah right) feeling that it will be Manchester United"

and he is doing the phone in after the game from Milan. So if we win tonight or get a good result, I will be listening!

With Fergie keeping mum on Evans I have a good feeling he was taken off for precaution and will start tonight.

I hope.

Regardless of whether they play Maxwell or Santon from the start, we can get at them down our right flank.

That's not our Line-up, Goal.com is a shit website. I wouldn't look in to it very much.

or Goal.com might be right, we never know? They are not allowed to post false information anyway. I don't really know :nervous:

I think our midfield will be full of work horses.

Park - Carrick - Fletcher - Ronaldo

with Rooney and Tevez up front.

Its all about the energy and the willingness to keep running for the first 60 minutes, then in a similar vein what happened to AC Milan, I'm hoping Inter will tire a little, and then bring on Berbagoal and hope to snatch an away goal.
