Ooh, I hope it's not a 442 line-up.

I hope it's going to be a 433/4231 style:

---------Fletcher-----Carrick-------
-----Ronaldo-----Giggs------Park---
--------------Berbatov-------------

Much, much better balance. Indeed, swap Park for Rooney and Berbatov for Smith and it's the Roma demolition team.

No Roon, that's weird.

I'm guessing it's a hold off 0-0 til the hour mark job, should be ionteresting, love to see Ronaldo darting forward on the break.

dont understand this. Might have Ronnie upfront with Berba. But most likely are hoping to hustle and harry the Inter team in midfield, having both Rooney and Tevez on the bench as impact players to come on.

But even if this was the intention, Rooney is as good as anyone in performing a team role, as is Tevez, with the game against Barca last season a point of reference.

Good team, considering.

Surely itll be 433/451 with Fletch in the middle? Cant stand seeing him on the wing.

...a lot rides on this result as if we loose the heads would drop for Sunday etc.

We got pretty tall players out there tonight.... Evans, Fletch, OSeha, Ronaldo, Berbatov, Carrick, Rio

set-piece anyone?

I think many guys have failed to notice that Berbatov has been our first choice striker thus far.

A possible reason why he starts ahead of Rooney is that he is way taller. For one thing, Inter's CBs lack height as Samuel and Materazzi are injured. For another, Berba could help when we defend from set pieces. Adriano and Zlatan are very tall and strong.

am hoping fergie has got it right, he's at the san siro and we all are on our computers so lets leave it with him.

Keep the ball, protect the defence, and hope Giggs Ronaldo and Berbatov can pull out some magic. Basically Nou Camp last season.

Usually I'd be shit scared of that, no Rooney when fit is a big no no for me.

But, it makes perfect sense for this game, keep it tight early on, fairly standard tactics for Fergie away from home in Europe, but with added bonus of Rooney and Tevez on the bench to scare the living shite out of their defenders after an hour or so when they are beginning to wain.

Good tactics Fergie.

what i was thinking

Goggs is captain. That's a big responsibility to put on such a young man's shoulders. I'm hopeful he'll handle it, though.

2-1 for Inter. Rooney to score for us and we'll turn it around in 2nd leg.

Deja vu. Will we beat them 7-1 in the return? Rooney isnt starting, so for him to come on and score would be brilliant.

I say 1-1. Ibra and Berba to score.

Yup, hope so.

Good balance too. Fletcher to cover the right hand side when Ronaldo stays forwards.

Lets see how Berbs copes on his own.

I hope Giggs can pull the strings for us today.

No Rooney or Tevez? Well, I have all faith in Sir Alex' choices.

It's Berbatime!

I'll go with a draw 1-1

Im pleased with that team. Never expected both Evans and O'Shea to be there. Hopefully they are in a good state to play. Rooney isnt started because he has only just returned from injury, he will get on in the second half though. I expect big things from our attackers because we must find the net tonight.

me too.

Defence looks like lots of quality and very experienced which is great.

Carrick/Park/Fletcher can take on anyone and will cover alot of ground breaking up the Inter midfeild and Muntari does not scare me at all. And we still have creativity and goals from Giggs, Berbatov & Ronaldo..

Can play a fluid 433 in attack and yet quickly revert to 451 when defending. Its a good side with lots of options off the bench if we can keep it to 0-0 with 20 mins to go

I expected Tevez on the bench but not Rooney, not sure what's up with that. Berbatov has been getting better as the season goes on and tonight is his time to shine as the main striker...........Berbatov to score :D

He deserves it though.

The young fella with silver hair has been immense this season

Reckon Rooney may be kept on the bench just to wind him up. 2nd half he'll come on pissed with a point to prove and score. It usually happens when he gets dropped to the bench.

Works both ways.

Worked for the good against Bolton.

Worked for the bad against West Ham.

Sounds good to me.

"RIVAS! Really?!? He has played like 2 games this season. Wow, I guess in Mourinho we trust.
All I can think is that he is one more rash player that can get sent off."

They dont like the prospect of him and Santon both playing tonight.

Rivas is pretty quick, that's all I remember. Since he doesn't get alot of games i don't think he is that great. I'm very interested in seeing Santon start though, he's 20 and is supposed to be one of Inter (and Italy's) most promising youngsters, plays RB.

Zanetti i think can play on the flanks, the other three are primarily center mids aren't they? Our midfield looks pretty lightweight, wonder what Fergie has in mind, i thought he'd go 4-5-1 like against Barca away last year.
