Fallen Muppet. Lest we never forget
I highly doubt that.Is Carrick the next Guardiola? He played like him, maybe he also coaches like him? no?

So Carrick isn't the interim manager ? So what we will just have another Ole type to take the reigns from him as well? Or will Carrick actually have a chance to be the interim manager ?
Other clubs forward plan. They think about succession. A Plan B should anything go wrong. It is completely normal. Except for United. We can't forward plan when it was bloody obvious even before the Liverpool capitulation that Solskjaer's days were numbered. Other clubs would be thinking about a permanent manager. Or at least have an eye on who they may bring in quickly as an interim measure. We haven't. We have an interim interim manager. And Michael Carrick according to the club will be in place for "forthcoming games" so he will be in place at the very least for the Villarreal game on Tuesday and the Chelsea game next Sunday. That's in seven days. But this is all but a symptom of the ineptitude at 'learning on the job' United.
And it is time to wake up to the damage that is being caused by those whose faces are never seen.
But that is how bad it got. No club waits this long to pull the plug. The real earthquake at Old Trafford happened on October 24. That's nearly a month ago now. When we capitulated against Liverpool at Old Trafford. It remains the most embarrassing result in my living memory. Because there was NOTHING. Man City was equally embarrassing and still the board do nothing. Against Watford we showed a little bit of something in the second half. And the sending off then killed our frail mentality. If we don't have an immediate replacement we should have kept Ole. Carrick and others are no better (probably worse after the "new manager bounce" effect has worn off).
Blanc could be a sensible choice, but could do a Ole and do well and end up getting a 3 year deal. Why is no one considering Ernesto Valverde or Laurent blanc for the interim job
Carrick, Phelan and McKenna are all part of the problem and should be sacked as well.
There are coaches all over the world who'd love this opportunity. Continuing with what you know doesn't work is flat out stupid. In reality, where is he going to get a new set of backroom staff in November?
I hope to God we won’t see McFred ever again.I assume Carrick will be in charge two games at the most but do people think he will do anything totally different to Ole in these games?

Not really remarkable given the dunces in charge...
It's pretty wild that we actually don't have a plan in mind for sacking Ole, despite how bad we've been for so long. How can we be that incompetent? The writing was on the wall for months.
The problem remains the standard of whom you are bringing in. Carrick, for instance, only got his coaching badges four year ago. He is another 'learning on the job' body at Old Trafford. United was his first coaching job and he is now interim interim manager. With no chance of getting the job full time. No chance. The club have already said this. Those in temporary control normally have a little hope of possibly getting it full time if they are successful. Carrick has not. So as I have said before (sorry for repeating) he is a lame duck. We actually have Mike Phelan who has management experience (albeit failed management experience) but for some reason is overlooked. Yet he was given a new three year contract 47 days ago.Which other club? If we take Bayern in recent history when they sacked Ancelotti they used Sagnol as a caretaker for one game before naming Heynckes interim manager. Chelsea named Steve Holland for one game before naming Hiddink as an interim manager.
People seem to overestimate what other club actually do, what you saw today is perfectly normal in Football. What is not normal is for a club to hire a completely new staff minutes after sacking a manager particularly when we are not talking about a full time manager.
Bonus: Chelsea couldn't even sack Conte properly and had to bring him back for preseason because they couldn't agree on a fee for Sarri.

The point is that the wheels of succession planning undoubtedly should have taken place way way before now. Even before the Old Trafford capitulation against Liverpool which is a month ago now. This has been coming for months.
I’m not sure why everyone is losing their shit over the prospect of Carrick taking temporary charge. The plane to Valencia leaves tomorrow morning- do you think we’d have no coaches on it? Jesus wept
Actions speak louder than words. The actions are that we have a lame duck taking charge for at least the crucial Villarreal game on Tuesday and the Chelsea clash on Sunday. We aren't even in a position to name an interim manager, let alone have a clue about a permanent manager. Does that sound like a plan at all? If it is a plan, it is a plan in the Baldrick sense of the word.I'm not sure we don't in all honesty. I don't think senior sources at the club keep the press abreast that much on what's going on. I know it's difficult not assuming the worst of the club but assumptions from journalists because they've not heard any different may not be the reality
God that is another page in a chapter of the book of Glazer ownership incompetence. We capitulate to City and then Ole and the players not on international duty go and have a wee holiday. And Watford was the result. Its not just Jesus who is weeping mate. There should have been planning done from the time we got beaten 5-0 by our rivals at home. Anyone could see that it wasn’t working.
The lack of thought and responsibility is so stark and flagrant that it’s become accepted and normal now, and that isn’t right.
If we go out of the CL now, who is responsible? No one. Just sleep walking into failure as usual.
They say on their arses for two weeks and let their manager go on holiday for 9 days…only to watch him get smashed by a team fighting relegation. And only now they think “yeah, let’s sack him and draw up a plan”. Inept isn’t even the word.
He's the interim-interim manager. Carrick is pretty much Ole in this scenario, we'll then have a Blanc/Rangnick till the end of the season after 2/3 games and then hope to land a Ten Hag/Poch in the summer.
Won't be a popular opinion but this is the absolute best we can do in this scenario.
Cracker! If it is a plan, it is a plan in the Baldrick sense of the word.

Would be the absolute worst thing we could do.Get Roy Keane in as interim-interim manager to give them all the kick up the ass that they all need.
If you see what the club has said, they say Carrick will be at the wheel for "forthcoming games" while an interim is sorted out. That means at least two. I think we can agree on that. So that doesn't just mean Villarreal on Tuesday. It also means Chelsea next Sunday. So we will have a lame duck for at least a week. This is not what you would call, a plan.We have an important match coming up on Tuesday. It's Sunday.
Maybe we want to get the game out of the way before announcing someone and it doesn't mean we've no idea who it is.
I hate defending the club as they've been awful but 'we dont know therefore they can't have a plan' seems highly presumptive.
Sure they do. But on this page alone it's gone from 'we've only started looking this morning' to 'we started looking after Liverpool game'.
To me the fact they've announced plans for an interim through to end of season indicates they know exactly who they want but know he isnt available until them and also they know who they'll get as interim but understandably doesnt want the first game of his tenure to be losing a crucial game in CL because he's not even had time to learn everyones name yet.
There's no time to get anything else in place in 2 days. Carrick until them. Then we announced interim then we announce permanent when we're contractually able to.
I might be wrong and too optimistic but I think 'we dont know therefore we assume it's bad' goes a little too far
Worse than what? We are in a mess. Get Roy Keane in for the next couple of games to kick some ass until the board can come up with some kind of interim manager plan sometime whenever. Sorry, I have just lost it with what is going on at our club right now.Would be the absolute worst thing we could do.
Of course we dont. We had a full international break to sack Ole and get a new manager. We had weeks before the break to start looking. We have fecking Carrick in charge now until we find an interim before we try and get someone end of season? It's a joke. Not to mention all the talk about Poch or Rodgers. Both would be horrendous appointments.I'm not sure we don't in all honesty. I don't think senior sources at the club keep the press abreast that much on what's going on. I know it's difficult not assuming the worst of the club but assumptions from journalists because they've not heard any different may not be the reality
Hmmm. Defenders of a board who have previously let Poch and more recently Conte slip through their fingers. Sorry nobody who looks at how our club is run, and sees the appointments that have been made can tell me that we have a clue.Or they don't like the currently available managers and think that the pool of candidates will improve between now and the summer.
