International Friendlies May/June

Lingard played well, linked up with all the forwards.
Young played well also, Kane unsurprisingly the best player on the pitch.
I admit I was very suprised to read this.

Lingard as usual loads of tippy tappy little end product and essentially no influence or substance to his game.

Young was among the worst performers today before he came off.

Particularly with Welbeck being so bang average.

Think of it more as a test rather than Welbeck being ahead of Vardy. Welbz is failing and falling over as per usual, expect Vardy to come on next time.

Welbeck has to be the most unbalanced footballer I've seen. Reminds me of that QWOP game.

He does everything right until the final shot. He’s pacy, he can defend, he robs the ball off defenders, he makes good runs behind the defence but no end product.

Welbeck moves like a stringed puppet controlled by someone who's doing it for the first time

Genuinely comedic how poor he looks for a top level footballer. I can't get why I ever thought Welbeck would be United quality.

Average wing backs aside, that's a very good looking team.

Couldn't disagree more mate, I think I didn't see it as tippy tappy, it's good linkup play to get the attackers in good positions.
Young put a couple of good balls in, more than Rose did when he came on, I'm dreading us potentially going for him.

Everyone testing with their designated first choice starting line ups. Except for Germany of course who bless us with a b team.

Welbecks body moves like Olive from Popeye.

Nigeria were much improved in the second half. Good choice of opponents because you could see after they scored it was more than a friendly to them. Decent workout. Alli and Sterling were disappointing. Lingard quiet and Young getting caught out in the second half. Rose didn’t look much cop when he came on. RLC looked good as did Cahill.

Just watched the shot off the post and Nigeria goal, Pickford dived both times after the ball had already gone past him.

Just a friendly, but most definitely some positives. The first half you could see what Southgate is trying to do. Some nice pressing to get the ball back. Nigeria were woeful in the first half, granted, but if England play like that they’ve a shot at the last 16 or maybe a QF. Nigeria improved in the second half...

Cons:
Pickford looks shaky
Stones showing glimpses why his City career is stalling out

This Belgium - Portugal match will be a good opportunity to scout some FB's.

That was the right decision. Don't want Reus or Werner injured by some stupid tackle.

Low had to find out some more things about the players, like if Petersen is good enough (he's not), if Sane could finally perform his club level at the NT (not even close) and if Gundogan can be trusted a place in the starting 11 if needed (yes he can).

Brandt plays solid but has shit finishing. Oh well, he won't play anyway at the WC

Very weak game by Germany all in all. The defense is fine, but the pressing is inconsequential and every attack is breaking down because of bad decision making

It was more of an observation rather than passing judgement. Obviously it's a good thing if Löw uses these friendlies to figure certain things out. It's not very entertaining to watch though, aside from the beating Austria with our b-team factor maybe.
