Pep realised the Bravo situation wasn’t one to ignore and took action - Ederson looks fantastic, will save them a few points this year too.

Not sure how true this is, but I just read that in 9 league games City have conceded just 14 shots on target this season. If so, I think that’s partly our defence but also partly down to how quickly Ederson comes off his line for any ball remotely in behind the back 4.

I had it at 16 after 8 games according to Skysports and Burnley had the grand total of 0 so according to SS it's 16. Still hugely impressive, thats less than 2 shots on target per game.

That so? Then maybe Pep has found himself a new Neuer, who was perfect for his idea of football.

Hasnt won anything with city yet. Lets see if he does anything different than Mancini or Pellegrini

Plus, opponents don't have the ball against you guys for too long.

Interesting take on it. I guess its different from my view on things because I've had the opposite and being a City fan since 85. So I'm used of winning sweet feck all and losing a lot, so maybe look at things with less expectation (part of me still expects us to "City" this start up). I have kind of a if you can't laugh at yourself attitude to football because believe me as far as you guys have fallen, you've never had to turn off the tv after 82 minutes vs Gillingham in league One bad.

Of course financial doping has benefited us hugely, honestly I can only now start to realise how United fans looked at the game. When we won our first trophy (FA Cup) and first league I went mental. Now I find winning the league Cup underwhelming and pointless so I guess a touch of that is creeping in to myself too. I don't think any team in England can dominate like you did anymore. I have a feeling the titles will be shared between 3 and maybe the odd Spurs trophy here and there (if they continue on their upward trajectory).

Good and honest post mate. Fair play.

Cheers. Good to hear your perspective as well.

Shame a similar sentiment was perhaps expressed with less than ideal phrasing and ensuing knives and pitch forks:

If any other manager made that comment about the ball, they'd be smeared as an embarrassment. But because it's Saint Pep, thou shalt not criticize.

Don't think he's even the best in the league. Pochettino is.
Which part of Pochettinos career as a manager puts him even remotely in the discussion for best manager in the league? Mourinho v Pep I understand, serial winners, but Poch? Madness. He’s kept Spurs a solid outfit playing nice football. His win % there still only sits around the 55% mark, alongside zero trophies. You can point to net spend but if that’s the main basis of your point then Wengers tenure at Arsenal over 20 years is most impressive.

You can point to Peps success at Barcelona, but he didn't improve Bayern imo. City look better this year than last where they nearly didn't make the top 4, but spent a absolute boat load of cash so surely that's to be expected?

It's not because he took City for money. He needs to have the best players in order to do anything.

He is better then Klopp and on the same level with Mourinho. Guardiola is totally overrated. He was lucky to have Messi, Iniesta, Xavi and Puyol in a squad. He has never won the CL after he retired from Barselona so he was the most succesful of his career exactly there. Though he has always built strong attacking teams. He must win the PL and the CL to prove he is a great manager who can win tropheys not only with players like Messi. Worshiping City's manager? Ridiculous. Respect him? Why not? But nothing else.

Mou CL win with Porto was amazing, however I feel when people discuss it they leave out a lot of context.

Klopp Dortmund and Simone Atletico were more underdogs then Mou 03-04 Porto.
Yeah, that was a weird season. After knocking United out, they had Lyon, Deportivo and then Monaco. Looks more like a UEFA Cup run, really.

You're over-dramatizing a bit. If the ball or the pitch are shit, you're entitled to complain about it. Not a big deal. I'll still mock him for it for about 5 minutes, just because he's the City manager, and then forget about it because I don't actually care. It's the same with most people.

It's going to become trendy to blame the ball now, what have you done Guardiola!

When my workmates told me Guardiola had blamed the ball for City not scoring I thought they were having a laugh. So what happened in the penalty shoot out then? The ball suddenly became good for City?

He's proved me wrong on my criticism of his style but, as a character, he's a bit odd.

If Mourinho would have said that, everyone would be raving how clever he is, for deflecting from a bad performance.

No, everyone would be abusing him for spouting bs.

Didn't realise the League Cup matchball was a Mitre Delta, nor did I realise they still made Mitre Delta. They were the best ball you could buy back in the early 90s. You were the cock of the school if you had one.

I was considered the cock of the school even though I had no balls.

Bloody hell Mitre Delta, they were the dream ball to get from the Argos catalog as a kid! How dare Pep blame the ball, 'tis spherical perfection I tells thee.

I'd be fuming if people have an issue with Mou saying the same thing. It's common in football for the ball to effect a game and how it's played. He won't be the first nor the last. Even more common in international tourneys.
