Apart from Sinwar living like a rat in a tunnel and the rest of the leaders 1000 miles away in Qatar and Turkey, 12,000 Hamas fighters have been killed, most of the military command and leadership is dead and everyone else is deep underground hiding.
This is like someone claiming the Wehrmacht wasn't destroyed in May 1945 because Guderian, Manstein and Admiral Donitz were still alive.

Hamas will never be destroyed anyway, it may change name and ideology to some extent, but as long as there is no Palestine as a legally recognized functioning state, Hamas or some other terrorist organisation will exist. Either that, or kill every last Palestinian. Israel seems to be seriously going for option number two.
Netanyahu promised a complete victory. He can't claim to have delievered it with Sinwar alive, with rocket fire continuing.
Like @Bosnian_fan wrote, Hamas can't be destroyed. But this is about politics when it comes to Bibi, and fear&hate when it comes to many Israelis. People from the areas who were attacked on October 7 are genuinely afraid of returning to their homes because they fear it could happen again.
there is no clarity on how israel came to the 12k figure - it might just be the nbumber of men between 15 and 60 they killed.

We don't know that. The numbers are dished out by the Israelis who have every interest to inflate them in order to reduce civilian/militant kill ratio. Given that there's about 40,000 dead Palestinians and 70% are women and children, it would basically mean that every man was a Hamas militant.
Hamas is not an army, the comparison isn't adequate.
Standing against genocide through words while nice isn't meaningful. Israel won't stop unless it's treated as a pariah state all over the world. Israelis not being able to visit the Maldives beaches is nothing in comparison to the constraints and violence Palestinians face trying to move on their lands. This ban is hardly an attack against civilians.
Netanyahu came out today and said that the deal Biden presented wasn't entirely accurate and he concealed some details.
If they're still managing to get the occasional barrage of rockets off then they're still sufficiently viable to say they haven't been destroyed.
If that's the definition then the Israeli claim can only be taken as the complete annihilation of the Palestinian people. Given the amount of murder and destruction they'll always be incidents of 'rocket' fire for a good number of years.
It also suggests they'll engage in war on other fronts soon.
That's probably correct, which is why the Israelis will be incentivized to occupy all of Gaza until a new government and is put in place.

Yep, and why not launch a full on invasion and occupation of Iran until we can guarantee a new regime will be in place too.
Perhaps, just perhaps Israel and its allies need to look a bit more inwards and realise that there might be an underlying reason as to why they can't guarantee peace and stability for decades now.
I think it was referenced by Adam Shatz in an article I posted rather than by myself directly. I agree it’s a striking analogy, and that Algeria as a whole is in some ways a more suitable analogy for Palestine than, say, South Africa. Although obviously each case is has its own peculiarities.
Speaking of analogies, I remarked a few weeks into this that this Israeli campaign bore some close resemblance to Hafiz al-Assad’s defeat of the Muslim Brotherhood in Hama in 1982. We’ve gone considerably beyond that since obviously. As things stand I think Saddam’s Anfal campaign against the Kurds in 1988 is probably quite a suitable regional analogy. There are many similarities in terms of the historical and political context, the scale, and the conduct of the campaign itself.
Not to worry. The current administration needs no room whatsoever to backtrack, as long as it's Israel paving the way for it.

Some minor injuries, nothing too severe, as there are not a lot of people living there at the moment.
Tens of thousands left on October and still haven't returned. They've become sort of refugees in their own country and still don't know when and if they'll return - or if they'll have anything to return to. The entire region is abandoned and is said to be destroyed.
Obviously it's not as bad as it is for the people in Gaza, but it is another part of the dreadfulness of it all.
And yet, Netanyahu and his government of evil, death and destruction go on and on.
Maybe it would be the time to return it to syria so the rightful owners can go back to their land if there is nothing to return to. As everyone besides US and Israel recognize it as Syria. A bit like Crimea with Ukraine

Was it in occupied Golan hights or northern Israel? Because Golan hights afterall are occupied Syrian land and should be returned to them.
It's other parts of the north, not the Golan Heights.
The Golan Heights have been pretty safe throughout all this in recent months. The problem of its residents is financial as they are very much tourist based... And no one is going to be visiting there even though they are not attacked.
Hezbollah and Israel have been exchanging rockets since October. I believe the areas being hit are mostly evacuated from civilians, Israel did still kill its share of civilians when they went deeper into Lebanese land. Hezbollah is far more effective with their rockets btw than Hamas and has been getting through the Iron Dome regularly for a few months now.
Israel seems hellbent on going to war with Hezbollah and that's going to be an entirely different shitshow.

Yeah, Hezbollah's are a lot more varied.
I don't know about that. A sane government would not wish for that as Hezbollah can cause us a lot more damage than Hamas and the army is already strectched.
But as long as Netanyahu is not willing to end the war in Gaza, then the escalation with Hezbollah will also continue and you never know where it will lead to.
And some murmurs about a big operation in the middle of the strip where many displaced people from Rafah are sheltering after being ordered to go there.
