James Wilson | On Loan to Brighton and Hove Albion

Still doesn't look right to me. Kinda weak, not imposing himself, bad decisions in front of goal. Couple of nice moments too. Can only assume its down to the illness because I think at full throttle he would be the best player in that league

Still doesn't look quite right. Hopefully he will get there soon. He showed tonight glimpses of his real quality, pace and ability to hold the ball up. Brighton have made some shrewd signings in the January window and with a fully fit and firing James Wilson, they'll be damn close to going up. He gets more "song time" from the North Stand than anyone except maybe Zamora.

Is he injured? Second game in a row now that he's not even on the bench.
According to my Brighton supporting mate at work - he had a groin injury. He thought he would play tonight though - so maybe it hasn't healed as they hoped it would.

Yeah I just found this quote from Houghton's pre-match presser.
Team News: “James [Wilson] trained again this morning. It was a very minimal injury that meant we didn’t put him in the squad for the last game, but we’re hoping he’ll be available.
Looks like he has had some sort of minor injury and hopefully he will be available for their game against Cardiff on Saturday.

I don't think we can call him back unless it's an emergency loan. How long is the loan period?
Why do you think that and what is an emergency loan?
We have sent him to Brighton because he needs match rhythm and he has to show his qualities

We have extended his contract because of his qualities and we believe in him. If we are in trouble we can recall him.

- Louis Van Gaal

Edit: If this wasn't clear enough - the Brighton manager confirmed that we have a recall clause. It was all discussed in the media in December, when we couldn't buy a goal.

It's a shame he hasn't been at full health during his time at Brighton, he could've really torn up the Championship.

He's always injured even when he was playing for the u21s. He picks up a lot of little knocks. Seriously worried if that will persist with him throughout his career.

Don't understand why he went on load in the first place. We had 2 strikers and I thought welbeck was sold to make way for him to have more playing time, what happened?

Really, seemed like he was getting more than that. I went twice earlier in the season and he started both. Hemed has been in good form lately though and Wilson picked up an injury.

Yeah, he started well then seemed to have some health and fitness issues. He's struggled to get back into the team since. Surprising because in the couple of games I've seen he's looked their most dangerous player. Hopefully he can get a good run of games before the end of the season.

Despite his obvious ability I still think he may need another loan to round out his game before being ready for the United first team.

I felt that something that was used on here to justify his sale. In reality it was just a very poor decision from Van Gaal.
