Jeremy Corbyn - Not Not Labour Party(?), not a Communist (BBC)

You do nothing anyway. You're a joke. You will get nowhere near government with him in charge, he may be popular amongst your hardcore root base but countrywide he is seen as an irrelevant hippy.

If you keep him what exactly is the point in Labour existing?
And if he goes, what is the point in Labour existing? Standing up for the vulnerable in this country against the Tories while being lead by a bunch of abstainers?

How exactly is he standing up? He's fifty billion miles away from being in a position to make a difference.

Not really. If he wins a leadership contest and forces through party reform with a renewed mandate, he's arguably in a stronger position than ever.

As much as I don't like Corbyn I can't help thinking that this undermining of him has been planned since day one and they were just looking for a window of opportunity to do it, the Brexit vote being that opportunity. If he and Cameron had pushed their political differences to one side and shown more of a united front during the campaign then the Remain vote might have gotten over the line. I'm not sure why Corbyn wasn't more assertive in the run-up to the referendum - is it just that he isn't that assertive a person or is it because he's been a Euro-sceptic throughout much of his political career and by positioning himself on the Remain side he felt uncomfortable in that position?

Seems pretty clear he can't lead a party even if his ideas do represent the people.

Burnham time.

You think he could win a General Election?
Depends on when it's called. Considering the state of the Conservatives at the moment, winning a GE isn't impossible.

If it were announced for the coming summer? No, I don't think so; but that, in large part, has to do with members of his own party deciding to gift the Conservatives a scapegoat for Brexit. Incredibly short sighted maneuver, and one that doesn't even look like ousting the party leader (if anything, those MPs look more in threat than Corbyn).

At the same time, there isn't a single Labour MP who would do much better. The party has a serious problem (not just ideological divisions, but a lack of talent).

There’s some evidence that this hope is wishful thinking. Newsnight has spoken to more than 50 Constituency Labour Party chairs and secretaries who endorsed Corbyn last year. Of those, 45 continue to offer their support and believe that their constituencies will again nominate the leader in the now inevitable leadership contest.

Many we spoke to were nothing short of incensed at the antics of the party’s MPs.

Patrick Smith, chair of Hull North said: “If they don’t listen to the membership then they should just leave.”

The chairman of Hartlepool CLP echoed that, saying: "The MPs seem more interested in the interests of the PLP rather than the membership.”

Can people stop trying to imply that Corbyn supporters aren't actually getting involved with the party now as some sort of criticism please.

If he does go, then fine. But considering how long he's been an activist, I'd be amazed if he left before that inquiry was published.

At this point I'd put Dennis Skinner in there just for the cheap laughs. At the time we need Labour the most, they're too busy forming a large circle to shoot each other in the foot easier. Absolutely pathetic.

Angela Eagle was in bits resigning from the cabinet . Life is much harder than that as party leader.

Watson also says he won't be the challenger candidate.

And as if her resignation wasn't damning enough (I mean in today's context of "strong leader", which would rule out anyone who cries when resigning, even if sincere), her own constituency ran a motion in which Corbyn was overwhelmingly backed. Madness.

Smart move, whoever is the challenger will be the target of hate for a lot of party members. You want to be the person who comes after whoever comes next.

As an outsider, this thread is the only place I've really seen anyone suggest Corbyn shouldn't go.
Have you ever heard of Democracy? People were lambasting me last week for saying that they MP's should vote against the referendum, saying it would be the end of democracy. Now they are hounding a man who was voted in by a clear majority against his nearest challenger only last year kicked of of his job. The irony is wonderful.

The party wants him. They don't want the public school boys/girls who are trying to oust him.

Looks like tactics may have changed to "let him suffer for a bit".
