Jose's signings and those possibly leaving this summer?

Out: Fellaini, Carrick, Schneiderlin, Darmian, Jones, Valdes, Powell, Januzaj, Blackett, Wilson

More game time: Borthwick-Jackson, Fosu Mensah, Rashford, Pereira, Varela

In: Griezmann, Ibra, Varane, Bernat, Rodriguez, Mahrez, Kante, Stones, Willian, Pogba, Gotze, Kane (any of)

He's a real talent, but not sure about his attitude. You at least want players who will try their best.

Reminds me of Chicharito...one of those type of players who need to feel loved to get the best out of them. He would thrive at Old Trafford and if played regularly would do a number for us. I would have no reservations bringing him in. I would have done under van Gaal as he would inevitably have been benched or played in defence.

We're at a tremendous advantage this summer in that not only do we have United factor, but it is compounded by playing at United and being coached by Mourinho and getting pretty high wages to boot. That will offset any disadvantage of not being in the CL for a year.

I agree. I believe we will win the title coming season and the CL the following season. The best manager at the biggest club on earth. That will be the difference.

You could be right. LvG only had one way of dealing with players.

more realistic.

EDIT:

I agree with your game time analysis.

Most expensive Mourinho players for each club:
Porto: Benni McCarthy - £2.6m
Chelsea: Shevchenko - £31m
Inter: Milito - £20m
Real Madrid: Modric - £32m
Chelsea 2: Costa - £30m

Might have some figures wrong but it seems about right. Could argue about his record transfer at Inter as he swapped Zlatan for Eto'o but he also got a bunch of cash in the process so I dunno, depends on how you'd value Zlatan.
Eto'o was basically free.

According to this :

He signed a 5-year contract, [55] for €46 million [55] and the exchange of Eto'o (valued at €20 million) and loan of Alexander Hleb (with an option to buy for a €10 million fee), [55] with a €250 million release clause, [55] making Ibrahimović worth €66 million. However, the Hleb deal collapsed. Eventually Ibrahimović
cost Barcelona €69.884 million (£59 million), which included other fees. [56] As per the Inter book the fee was €69.5 million, [57][58] but part of the Inter fee (about 4.5%) was redistributed to youth clubs as solidarity contribution

Think Powell will be gone, he just seems to be constantly injured. Pereira might go on loan, he should have gone last season. LvG has stunted his progress completely by not letting him go out, then hardly playing him. I mentioned earlier that Boro could be interested in him and TFM on loan. United kids have a good reputation, so it could happen and it will help them get regular football at a high level.

Those signings worked well for him, except Shevchenko who we have all agreed was a Roman signing.

Hopefully Fellaini goes and wouldn't mind seeing the back of Darmian. Seen a few people suggesting we should sell Valencia but I hope we keep Valencia as he's been excellent for us at right back and could provide good cover.

Mourinho likes a small squad. Bear in mind the aggregate appearances of the 4 incoming players would be at least twice the minutes of the outgoing players barring serious injury.

Then there's also the fact that Jones can't play less next season than he has this season and Luke Shaw is unlikely to be injured all season.

It'd still be:

GK: DDG, Romero
LB: Shaw, CBJ
CB: Stones, Jones
CB: Smalling, TFM
RB: Valencia, Darmian
#6: Blind, Carrick, Schneiderlin
#8: Schweinsteiger, Herrera, Khedira
#10: Mata, Rooney
LW: Martial
RW: Mane, Lingard
CF: Ibrahimovich, Rashford

24 player's competing for 11 positions. Add in the versatility of Blind, Valencia, Mata, Rooney etc and you have good cover all over the pitch.

He may well keep Young as a further backup.

This leaves LW short for no reason. Depay would be best fit to stay

yeah. Powell may be gone. Depends on what Mourinho hears from the coaches and from the player himself. Pereira and TFM will not be going anywhere imo. Why would we want to send TFM on loan when he has proved himself already.

Out: Rojo, Powell, Valdes, Young, McNair, Fellaini

Loan: Januzaj, Keane, Wilson, Blackett, Pereira

In: Ibrahimovic, New CB, New CM, New Winger

XI: De Gea; Valencia*, Smalling, New CB, Shaw; Schneiderlin*, New CM, Rooney; New Winger, Ibrahimovic, Martial

Sub:
Romero; Darmian, Jones, Blind, Borthwick-Jackson, Varela, Fosu-Mensah; Carrick, Herrera, Schweinsteiger, Mata, Lingard, Memphis; Rashford

* Valencia and Schneiderlin still very much need to nail down those positions, but I think they can and expect them to make the most appearances there.

This is very close to my thoughts apart from a few things.

I think Young will stay. Against the best teams and in tough away games I think we will use a 433 formation with one dm and two b2b.

In all new positions except the RW position I think Mou favours physical and strong players who's good in the air. We need to add some muscles to our starting eleven. This season we looked weak in set pieces and corners and that's an area that we must improve on every level.

Sell Fellaini and hte summer will be a success already, anything else is a bonus, really. Although I'm hoping that we are looking at right wingers - Castles doesn't mention them in his assessment

Problem is, proving himself to LvG and proving himself to Jose. Also he might be thinking if Carrick and BFS are say there for just one more year, it will give those two a year to get even better and come into the squad when they are gone. I just think Jose will want to hit the ground running and will not yet take the time to nurse kids. He might use them in the Capital One Cup, but I think he will want to end the season with CL football and a trophy of some sort.

To be honest Mane could play LW also, with Mata playing wide right. Or as suggested he may opt to keep Young as a backup or bring in a young player with potential.

My view is Depay will be loaned out with a view to selling him for c. £20m next Summer if he does ok. A year on the bench at United is going to cause his value to fall even further and Jose tends to use loans to give player's a platform to increase their value. Somewhere like Fiorentina.

Doesn't Powell's contract run out this month?

He's a goner.
Not sure, think he is a goner anyway. Isn't Keane's up as well. The only kids offered new contracts at the moment are CBJ and Marcus Rashford supposedly. Keane and Powell are now of an age that if they haven't made it here, it isn't going to happen.

TFM is a versatile player. Defence or midfield. Carrick and Bastian are injury prone and hardly likely to play every week. I think TFM has nothing to prove to anyone. Powell. yeah I've seen no improvement.

I don't think getting rid of Fellaini is a priority. As limited as he is, and as lacking in skill as he is, in some games he has been an extremely effective player. His contribution this season has been far greater than someone like Herrera or Schneiderlin. He's also unlikely to complain if he's left out.

Likely because LvG showed faith in him and messed the other two about. Jose might not be the same. We will have to wait and see.

It will be interesting this transfer window how ed Woodward doe,s, we all know Jose will have target,s but will woody deliver, let,s face it he let down moyes and van gal with there target,s so it,s going to be interesting how he get,s on this summer.

He is on a pretty high wage and I am not sure he contributes enough over the season to justify it. He might be sacrificed to get the wage bill down. Mata does as well. Wonder if Wayne would drop his wages? Thought not.

Young has been good when fit. The trouble with these older players is they take time to recover. But he may be used as a back up if Jose gets a top winger. I think he will surprise many and keep Mata. Rooney will prosper under Jose imo. Jose rates him and he has shown he can be excellent in midfield, the area where we have been poor. I will respectfully disagree with those wanting Herrera gone.

I think we are going to have to take Herrera and a few others as if it is their first season again. I still say the only signing we needed in midfield last season was Morgan. BFS was probably too good to turn down, but it was ended up like the season before, trying to play all the forwards to not upset anyone. Carrick/Fellaini and Herrera were good the season before and he gave himself a problem signing two midfielders. I would have started with those three and the new ones having to work their way into the team. Instead he sapped the confidence out of a lot of his squad.

Valencia definitely, though I think he'll sell Fellaini.

Not sure how Jose would find Fellaini useful.
Valencia is useful, as long as he can make better use of the final ball. I would definitely keep him. Fellaini I am not sure, he isn't a destroyer or devastating passer and he isn't even a Drogba type that you could use upfield.

van Gaal sapped the confidence out of the entire club.

I rate Herrera highly. I think he, Rooney and Morgan can be a formidable midfield. Though I would add one more tackling midfielder.

Bastian and Carrick...sure Bastian will be here. Not sure about Carrick though. TFM and Blind can a do a more consistent job. Think Carrick will be done.

He won't be leaving, but what are we going to do with Daley Blind? I can't imagine Jose will want to go in to the new season with the Smalling-Blind partnership even though both of them were fairly decent last season. I reckon he'll look to add another centre half and if one of them has to make way surely it'll be Blind as Jose tends to favour physicality and power throughout his squads, especially at the back. I can't imagine he'll be first choice in any other position either.

I like it when some caftards think that Jose was some somewhat working behind the scenes and assessed each member of our squad and strengths and looked into the transfer markets and chose correct alternatives

Ed: Welcome to your first day at the job Jose. Let me show you around.
JM: Thanks. Here is the list of all the players I want and all the players I want sold.

Very harsh on Woodward. He spent hundreds of millions on LVG targets like Di Maria, Falcao, Depay, Schneiderlin, Schweinsteiger, Rojo and also on player's we had already scouted that he gave the green light to (Shaw, Herrera). The only player's Woodward didn't deliver were player's that no-one could have gotten (Neymar, Muller).

Van Gaal not getting the best out of them or him picking the wrong player's for his system was the problem.

Ins: J. Stones, R. Nainggolan, A. Gomes, A. Griezmann, Z. Ibrahimović
Outs: P. Jones, B. Schweinsteiger, J. Mata, M. Carrick, A. Young

Depth by position:

RB: Darmian, Valencia
RCB: Stones, (Blind), McNair
LCB: Smalling, Fosu-Mensah
LB: Shaw, Rojo
DCM: Blind, Schneiderlin, Nainggolan, (Herrera), (Gomes)
ACM: Rooney, Gomes, (Griezmann), Herrera
RW: Griezmann, Lingard, (Memphis)
LW: Martial, Memphis
FW: Ibrahimovic, Rashford

1st Team Formation

I think five signings this summer is ideal. We'll let go some of our older/oft-injured players and sign some younger proven quality to add to squad depth.
