Will be weird, as num 9 is normally reserved for ... number 9s.
7 or 8 is my bet. 8 would be good.
surely not 7...Ronaldo will never come back then...

A mod deleted them saying anyone who posts them will be threadbanned for the day...This was cruelly deleted. (God knows why)

Can You imagine what he'll do to likes of Buttner during trainings ? I think Fabio may injure himself again.
Good old Moyesy will probably burn him like a witch for using all the 'black magic arts'.
surely not 7...Ronaldo will never come back then...![]()
Does any shirt have a better history of players than our number 7? Best, Robson, Cantona, Beckham, Ronaldo.
I think you're forgetting about one Michael Owen.
Not sure if you're serious.surely not 7...Ronaldo will never come back then...![]()
Coppell too?Does any shirt have a better history of players than our number 7? Best, Robson, Cantona, Beckham, Ronaldo.

Considering back in Bests' day numbers were positional, rather than tied to players(IIRC Best actually wore 11 more), I'd love to know who else wore it back then, any chance Charlton had it a few times? I guess not...Does any shirt have a better history of players than our number 7? Best, Robson, Cantona, Beckham, Ronaldo.
Tbf, Valencia probably deserved it(more the recognition) after the season he'd just had, just a shame he crumbled next season. It's just a pity that we then went on to give it to Owen and Valencia.
Doubt it. He played left wing for a few years. He wore 9 for United and England when he was an attacking midfielder.Considering back in Bests' day numbers were positional, rather than tied to players(IIRC Best actually wore 11 more), I'd love to know who else wore it back then, any chance Charlton had it a few times? Your Dad sounds far better than mine. He's just a cynical, miserable bastard who isn't even excited at the prospect of signing Mata - and subsequently doesn't blink an eye when it's confirmed - while instantly demanding more signings.
I was browsing the magazine section with a six-pack of Corona in hand, passing time before heading to the check-out and the phone rings.
"NAHEALAI????!!!"
"Yes, Da?"
Old man starts singing "You're the One (Juan) That I Want" down the phone to me and finished the phone call.
This man is 51-years-old in a few months time.
He looks more like a cast member from Game Of Thrones.
It was my birthday yesterday too.Has it actually sunk in yet, we're signing Mata, Juan fecking Mata.
When those rumours went round in the Summer about a Mata/Rooney swap I just thought 'Pah never gonna happen, no way we can get Mata'...fast forward six months and we've got bothI feel like a kid a Christmas, I keep randomly smiling when I think about it

Fair enough but are thread bans needed?
I hope he does great for you guys and helps you secure that important 4th spot.
Congrats!
Depends on circumstance and stuff. Thread bans only last a day anyway if any are given out, and they can still view the thread, just not post which isn't a big inconvenience.
Brilliant player, he will make a difference no doubt, just don't get expectations up like he is going to make the "Cantona" difference like in 92\93 for the remainder of the season, there are fundamental problems all over the pitch which signing mata is not going to fix by this signing alone. Still, he should help turn some of our possession into clear cut chances (if Moyes lets players make runs beyond the ball) and it is a very important signing in terms of stature, even though we are going through shit, the fact we can still sign a player like this is a good signal.
