Anyone else following EvilKagawa? He's been hilarious with the whole Mata thing.

Every statement he makes seems to ooze class, him and RvP doing interviews together must be a PR officers wet dream.

Wtf just read an article... he really did say he was exhilarated because United brought him in by helicopter. Lolz.

Even the demented City fans over at Bluemoon probably can't bring themselves to hate Mata, he's such a genuine character and his class on the pitch has to be admired, no matter who you support. There's not a single thing you can fault about this signing, it's perfect.

Mata "Everything is going to be fine, with the squad we have and the players that will be coming in the summer, everything will be fine and I think this club will be successful for sure"

Quite interesting comments. It sounds like there is a lot already planned for the summer.

--------- 1 ------------
2 ---- 5 ---- 6 ------ 3
------ 4 --- 8 ---------
7 ------ 10 -------- 11
--------- 9 ------------

That's how a team should line up!
This. None of that 4 in defence rubbish. Dempsey and Kone wearing 2 and Boulahrouz wearing 9 made me feel physically sick.

I definitely think one of the factors in him joining was us telling him what the plans for the future are and which players we are looking at bringing in.

Yeah, that comment was very interesting. You do wonder if we've discussed targets with the likes of Rooney and Mata during negotiations. Whatever is going on, it all sounds very positive!

Very exciting to say the least. It seems we have learned already from the disaster over last summer and if things are to believed we are working on signings now for then already.

It does seem Mata and Rooney have been told some very positive things. Even Moyes is purring about the quality additions he has lined up.

I really like the sounds of his comments that hint at future players we are wanting to bring in. Makes me think he has been told who we intended to bring in and it factored in his decision to join, so hopefully some muppet worthy players are beginning to be lined up.

Agreed. We need a few top players - the good thing about this first half of the season is the squad has performed close to its talent level, thus hammering home our need for new additions.

Maybe we will see a resurgence to 2008 levels of talent in the squad, after years of steady decline.

Yes I too am delighted to see us perform poorly so that we can now focus our minds on the main priority for football, the transfer market.

Jesus.

Happy Mata Day everybody!

I'm buzzing for tonight. Better start him moysie!

I disagree completely. This squad haven't performed near their potential this season. They look bereft of confidence in a way they never have before. I'm hoping this signing ignites some of our players because despite the fact that we need two or three additions in key areas, there are several in this current group who can play much better than we have seen so far this season.

Ridiculous post. It's shocking to see you lots assessment of this squad.

Exactly.

I'm a bit late because I've just watched the interview in full on MUTV. Mata really loved that helicopter ride didn't he?! We have to use that as a snare tactic from now on! His comment about the players that will be arriving in the summer is super exciting, as is Rooney's apparent u-turn in the contract situation since it's been reported that he's been given assurances about our plans to strengthen. Hopefully there are some good signings to come. Our midfield needs it for sure. Nice to see Moyes embracing his inner muppet too!

I can't wait to watch him either though I'm not sure if he has trained enough to be familiarized with the rest of the team. I think it would be like RvP, a sub appearances and start the next game.

Either way I can't wait, and Juan himself has seemed really enthusiastic about getting on the pitch.

Tonight's game will have a kickass atmosphere. Likely to see Juan make his debut but more importantly, Ole is back home.

Me too, cant wait to see Mata playing in a United shirt for the first time, even if it is just as a sub. Moyes seemed very positive about what he has already seen of him in training even though it has only been a couple of sessions so far. He also said that he has seen signs that the current players are being lifted and are excited about playing with him :D.
Here are the quotes for anyone who hasn't seen them:

David Moyes said:
"I've seen it already," Moyes said. "I've seen what it's done to the other players in the 24 hours since his arrival. One or two of them have said to me already: 'What a great signing, we can't wait to play with him.' And from what I've seen of him in training … it's been only a couple of days, but I'm really pleased we've got him. He's a real gentleman. He arrived on Saturday, extremely smart, well turned-out, incredibly polite, did all the right things, said all the right things. All the messages I've had tell me he's a great lad to work with."

Ole's quotes have been class too about the game and his return as a manager to OT. I'm positive he will get a great reception.

I think the first time he plays will be as a sub. That way it takes some of the pressure off both Moyes and Mata to have this blinding start. It'd be more fun if he did start though and will probably want to.

Won't start but he'll come on as a sub, probably around the 60 min mark.

Game kicks off here in Sydney at around 6:45am, which means by the time he is ready to come on I would already have left for work. FFS.

START START START START START START!

I'm setting myself up for disappointing aren't I?

Think so. Its just been 2 days since he arrived. Hasnt played much this season. Guess he'l be on the bench.

Prepare for 60mins of Valencia bruising their LB within an inch of his life with crosses fired into his body at full pace.

Sigh. And I'll be sleeping at 11 and waking up at 1:15 for this. Bah.

I'm certain he'll start.
I think he should. It's a good game for him to just spend time with our players on the pitch, no matter how he performs. And he's probably in great condition as he hasn't been injured and has been training for Chelsea throughout.

Plus there will be a buzz in the squad and amongs the fans. Lets use that.

Moyes: "He can play off the right, off the left, behind the striker. He will play any one of the three roles. We know that is what he does. He plays it in his own style. But he can play in any of those three positions. That is partly what we want. We want people who are flexible. We want people who can change within games as well. We don't want people to stick to one position. It will allow us to alter things if we feel we have to during games as well."

Nice.
