La Liga 2013-2014

Oddly, Barcelona having dropped their first points this season went one point clear at the top this weekend - Atletico losing 1-0 at Espanyol.

This prepares the way for the first Clasico of the season. Nou Camp at 6pm Spain/5pm UK, next Saturday. In the best traditions of the event, whoever wins goes top. Though in Real Madrid's case they can then lose it to Atletico the following night.

Up until yesterday's match I'd have said Madrid had no chance, particularly with Messi back in action. However I'm willing to upgrade that to "some chance they'll make a game of it," particularly if Ronaldo got his mishits and bad luck quota out of the way against Malaga. It's not the nicest timing for the match - Barcelona play away to Milan on Tuesday, Madrid play Juventus at home on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Real Sociedad beat Valencia away - a good win after a string of poor results this season. I didn't see the match but I'm told (admittedly by a Valencia fan :D ) that Real were lucky to go in at halftime a goal up, that the ref disallowed a good Valencia goal, and that the Valencia team should be ashamed of themselves, again. Anyway - he reckons we shouldn't have too much trouble, if we're a "proper team" :smirk:

He was in team of the years last season ahead of De Gea
Ask people to name their top 5 goalkeepers and he won't be on any list unless that person watches the La Liga extensively. He's not gotten much credit for his European performances. The fact that he's uncapped is a testament to how underrated he is.

What team of the year last season was he in?

Well, it's hard to see past the first clasico of the season, though Villareal V Valencia could be a match.

So, the clasico then :D

Barcelona win, they go 6 points clear of Real Madrid. Madrid win (come on you mathematicians) they're level. Atletico play on Sunday.

Messi's fit to start. Pique may not be. Bale might start, maybe instead of Benzema.

There must be some sort of contractual reason or something. It happens with a lot of Spanish games on sky these days. I can't think they would purposefully miss 10 minutes, especially considering how much they love to flog it.

It's already 13 minutes past and the game still isn't on. They've actually managed to put a game, which they missed the first 10 minutes of, on late.

They're showing a montage instead of going straight into the game, wtf.

Wtf is going on. This has not happened before on sky with la liga. We are getting a build up too. You cnuts have ruined my Saturday evening. I can't watch a non live game
