La Liga 2013-2014

I am sorry, but if that had been Messi, he would have left those defenders for dead and scored in those type of situations. Herein lies the difference between Messi and Neymar. His reputation is also well-known and I am sure the referees have been told to look out for it. Shame, he can be a good footballer if he cuts that rubbish out of his game.

To be fair that last one was a pen all day...apart from today.

Maybe, but my point is that he had no intention of getting a shot off in either incident IMO, rather settle for the pen. I'm thinking he's struggling with his finishing, it's not been as obvious as with Alexis at times throughout his Barça career, but in several games now he's had a couple of decent chances and squandered them - so too in this game already.

I thought that was a penalty on Neymar but I also think he was going down before the contact came in, if that makes sense. Ultimately the defender did trip him up so it should have been a penalty but that's what his reputation gets him. Also, he could probably have got a shot away long before the challenge but more interested in getting a penalty and a man sent off than scoring.

I disagree with the notion that he needs to cut this shit out to be a good player. He's already a brilliant player.

Has Song managed to play consistently well at Barcelona? He has, like, one good game and then transforms into a liability. Arsenal did well.

I agree, but his antics stop the flow of the game. They don't need him to fall over at the slightest thing to win matches. He needs to get out of the Brazilian mindset that is all to apparent in the likes of Dani Alves, Pepe, Diego Costa, David Luiz and the like.

Meh, I prefer an Alexis who will shoot there rather than square it into traffic...part of his problem with Barcelona, IMO. Still, that first goal was a thing of beauty

Atletico - Celta is underway.
Atletico have still not dropped any points and shouldn't do today, though Celta can make a game of it.

For windowshoppers, here's the Atletico team:
Courtois, Juanfran, Miranda, Godín, Filipe, Mario, Gabi, Koke, Arda, Diego Costa y Villa

Atletico Madrid lead 2-0 after 70 min. Diego Costa with both goals. 10 goals already this season in 8 games for him. What a start to league season for Atletico as well!

Amusing skit from the Crackovia group in Barcelona on Tata & his infamous Pistachio polo shirt...there are english captions

We just beat Malaga 2-0 at home but Jesus Christ, Willy Caballero played the game of his life, this would have ended 5-6 nil at least if he wasn't in goal.

Just seen Real Madrid's game, that's the best I've seen them play this season. Between Ronaldo (and the other forwards) fluffing their chances and a truly brilliant performance by Willy Caballero the 2-0 is an amazing scoreline (it could have been a hat full for Madrid).

Even so, the 2-0 was inflated by a non-penalty - "won" by Bale - in injury time. Ronaldo even apologised to the Bernabeu for the fact that was the only way he could score today. If you only see the goals, you'll think Willy Caballero can't have played that well, seeing as he messed up for the first goal, a Di Maria pass that glided into the net, presumably because Caballero was expecting Ronaldo to connect with it. If you see the rest of the game, it was a deserved win for Madrid, but you could also argue Willy Caballero deserved more than just a MOTM award.

Meanwhile the second half has just kicked off of Osasuna - Barcelona. It's still 0-0, mostly because Osasuna have the bus properly parked. Puyol's back for Barcelona - first game in months. Messi's on the bench.

Osasuna toughed it out for a 0-0. Those are the first points Barca have dropped this season. Next Liga match for them is Real Madrid.

Atletico can go clear at the top if they win tonight :D - they're away at Espanyol

Willy is the most underrated goalkeeper in the world. Many pundits are completely oblivious to him.
