La Liga 2013-2014

For the very first time in his famous career so far, Lionel Messi has lost a game at the Nou Camp in which he has scored. 107 games: 99 wins, 7 draws and a single loss (today).

That is just unbelievable. Says a lot about the league, but it also says a lot about him.

Cagey stuff at the Calderon.

Miranda and Godin's keeping Griezmann/Vela well in their pockets so far.

And Villa managed to score what could be a decisive goal before limping off with an injury.

Intersting whether we'll se Diego Ribas make his comeback tonight. Can't wait for Athletic-Real later on either.

Atletico's the opposite of us.

So well coached and an incredible work ethic on every single one of their players.

Tactically Simeone almost never gets it wrong.

Never mind.

All you have to do now is beat Athletic tonight and you're ahead of Barca. Then it's just a matter of beating Atletico at the Calderon, a draw in El Clasico, then win all your other games and the title's yours.

Piece of cake.
;)

Yeah, as long as it's Atletico that are ahead, I'm not too worried.

If Athletico win the league surely that has to be one of the greatest ever managerial achievements.

I honestly think they are the best "team" in the world right now. It's always a team effort in every match and everyone knows their job. It runs like clockwork this side.

It's inevitable they'll bottle it though.

Have to say it's looking more and more like Real this season.

Look at the positioning and the movement without the ball and how they close spaces.

Not sure, they were ahead of real for a long time last season but fell short. This year they are better. They have a +42 goal difference, best defence and goals come from everywhere. It will be tough once the CL restarts but I think they can do it. Would be amazing

What an amazing season Athletico are having. Simeone looks like a bit of genius.

Dont they play barca last or next to last game of the season... potentially a massive game

Massive, massive game coming up from the new San Mames.

Athletic, in fabulous form, taking on Real Madrid.

Bale doesn't play, calf injury.

Herrera starts for Athletic.

Absolutely. It's a mix of youth team products, very good players and players who've already been written off by other teams. Simeone will have done something extraordinary if he leads them to a Liga.

As two horse races go, it's got a rather impressive outsider in the running.

And now:
Iraizoz; De Marcos, Gurpegui, Laporte, Balenziaga; Iturraspe, Mikel Rico; Susaeta, Ander Herrera, Muniain; Aduriz

Vs

Diego López; Carvajal, Pepe, Sergio Ramos, Marcelo; Xabi Alonso, Modric, Di María; Jesé, Cristiano Ronaldo y Benzema

Ronaldo inches away from opening the scoring after a few seconds.

Nice to see Jesé start in Bale's absence.

What Athletic player just beat those two Real players??
