Hmm. It's really weird to mention it before the of condolences, but if Nick Griffin were attacked I'm sure lots of people would be tweeting similar messages without a sinister intent.

I think that's the thing I worry about the most. It may be cold-hearted to but I think incidents like this have the power to really damage the connection between MP's and constituents.
 
It's so shocking. She really was a very warm person. My dad's met her several times and only ever speaks highly of her.

Hard to believe something like this could happen.

Simply unacceptable this should occur no matter one's political views. Moreover, with the events of the past week it's alarming how anyone can be taken at any moment by a lunatic.

I guess it's complacent to think but I just don't see this as something that happens in our country.
 
What a terrible ending to this horrible, bizarre incident. It sounds like she was a much-loved, kind person who did a great deal for her fellow-man. May her soul rest in peace.

He's probably saying it because some of his supporters might see him as being soft for saying what he did. Some of them genuinely want to see people like Jo die.

Either way, what he has to say is irrelevant.

I don't see how that's a logical conclusion. One might wonder why an MP at a public event doesn't have some form of security present but as we saw in Arizona, even that isn't a guarantee of safety.

If anything, they might argue that controls don't work as use this as proof. Having visited England twice, I think it's a good thing...some people seemed awfully belligerent.
