Let's all Laugh at England

The annoying thing about the anti-England lot on here is you support a club from England for feck sake. It's like me supporting Barcelona and then laughing when Spain get knocked out. Proper weird behaviour

Nonsense. Nationality is irrelevant.

You couldn't possibly have picked a worse example to make that point

This thread has ruined it for when we do actually get knocked out

There's only one winner and it's coming home.

I totally agree with you on that. It’s just dumb to support United, travel to watch United and not have even a little bit of support for England at the World Cup. Weird and also wrong.

Not that surprising when 69% of English football fans are anti-England according to BBC.

This might just be the funniest thing I have ever seen. He must have some huge dirt on Infantino.

They mean he's a legend on FIFA the game. I read in Gary Neville's autobiography that you didn't dare step into Wes' house unless you were ready to be humiliated.

Must be great to have such moral flexibility that you can support an English football team but hate the Country.

So if you support the England national team that means you can't hate any english football clubs like Liverpool, City etc. then by that logic?

I guess. And as an Irishman I’d be in the minority of my fellow countrymen. I just think it’s silly. I’m pleased for England, will be pleased for them if they win the thing. But admittedly will grow very tired of the English media in particular if success comes England’s way.

I really can't tolerate the anti-English vibes on here. I can't understand how people can 'feel' so part of the 'united family' and then slag off the England NT as if they are Liverpool. It just makes no sense to me. I love that United has support from all over the world, and of course if England is playing your home country then I would expect you to be not supporting England, but the blatant ABE really blows me away, do you realise that Man United is an English team, and so hating on English football is very hypocritical and tbh quite annoying when we finally have something to cheer about and come on here to enjoy it and end up feeling like we've ventured onto rawk or bluemoon. And by the way, it's coming home!

Same here mate as a Welshman, most of my friends and family want England to fail. I’ve always supported England Ireland or Scotland in tournaments, bar the one time Wales made it :D

Matthäus was probably thinking that’s the ginger cnut that won the treble the night I thought I won it.

Didn't even play in the final. David May was also on the bench, you think Matthäus knows who David May Superstar is?

Of course he does, everyone in Munich has that image of May seared into their brains. And I guarantee you when Matthäus was subbed off Wes caught his eye off our bench. Guarantee you.

You're right about the media, I don't take them seriously, and that goes for when England are poor, or when England show promise. Any success will be despite them, not aided by them.

I'd prefer to focus on the way Southgate leads the team by example, and a very good one at that, in my view. I won't turn on him if we go out, I think he's the man for the job.

:nono: You know and I know that hating Liverpool and City has nothing to do with the World Cup.

Yeah you and i know club and international teams are completely separate. Though obviously some people have a hard time wrapping their head around the concept.

For what it's worth i don't mind England doing well, don't love them, don't hate them, don't care.

If not Brazil then I would really like England to win this tournament. So proud of Marcus and Vardy. A final between Brazil and England would be perfect.
Why ? He was useless and shit out of taking a penalty.

Tbf based entirely on anecdotal evidence I'd say quite a lot of Irish people find this England team less objectionable than previous iterations. Though actually wanting them to win the thing is a bit much.

I hope England win it.

At the same time I dread England winning it.

I'm so confused.

Of course you can.

Well exactly my point mate that sort of logic makes no sense. You don't have to love the England national team just because you support an English club, just as you don't have to love every English club just because you support the English national team.
