Why would I laugh at this English team??? As far as I remember, the majority of English supporters didn't even believe they would go further than QF or even R16. If someone doubts it, just check the thread about their expectations out. In fact, it was a worthy campaign and brought dignity to the senior team again. They should be proud of themselves and Southgate may enhance more this squad as time goes by.

Yep, I know it's hard sometimes but it's part of the parcel. I get abused everytime United lose as my local is a Liverpool Supporters Club on the side. Don't see me crying about it. On the other hand, I walk in there gloating every time Karius fecks up. Came close to blows a few times in the heat of the moment but at the end of the day it's all a bit of fun and everyone gets over it. That's why football is so much fun.
I think they would not have cared that much as they would assume we'd go out to Columbia or manage to lose to Sweden. The negativity before the tournament was (fairly) high.
Either way a young team just got to the world cup semi final. Huge improvement.

Some bringing politics or all that shite in on a forum would never change that. Hence why I think it's laughable people claim to be behind England yet a few, if it has even been that many, posters on here have changed their mind. That's a special kind of sad.
It's just a game and it's just a bit of banter. If that gets to anyone, then they need to look at themselves before they look at others. By all means, in a "let's all laugh at England" thread people should be doing just that.

They've just been knocked out of a World Cup semi final, I mean I think the reaction bar a few has been decent. You get this close emotions run high. I've seen more posts talking about a meltdown then an actual meltdown.
I don't know what to enjoy more, the fact that my country reached a semi-final of the world's biggest sporting event - or that it caused untold butthurt to a number of bitters from nations that basically don't have national football teams. It needs to be said. Im so proud of these boys. No one expected anything of them and they suprised us all. They played with passion and pride and made that shirt mean something again. Southgate has installed a style of play that is both modern and brave and what we have been looking for. He has made me reconnect with the national team. Before the tournement i said it was proberly one tournement too early for this young team but they have shone and they will only get better. Today was just one of those games, i dont belive Croatia deserved it anymore than us. These boys deserved more than this. But be proud of them. Its a learning curve for these boys. Get behind them. The future is bright.

let's be fair, a lot of it has to do with the fact that we're shite at international football, so naturally seeing our closest neighbours who we share a lot of cultures and friends from fail is going to be entertaining for us, it's childish of course but that's football, if it was politics we would all be laughing at Brexit instead of pleading with you to stay. I could understand it if these were Scottish fans or Welsh fans - where there is healthy rivalry. But people from further afield, the keyboard warriors in different time zones - I just don’t understand? Utd are so very proud of the English players we have brought through the ranks over the years, we embrace the Charltons, the Neville’s the Rashford’s etc - we are a proud English club.
So for anyone who claims to be a supporter of Utd, who hates England is quite frankly very strange. Why don’t they just go and support someone else, it’s not like they get out of their armchairs and go to OT.

That's the root of it really. England is the only home nation that has even a small hope at these things - so it's a wonderful release for you when (time and again) that hope fails.
