BBC disagrees :

"Michael Owen is fit to play for Liverpool after recovering from an ankle injury.

Elsewhere midweek hero Djimi Traore could lose his place to John Arne Riise while any of Vladimir Smicer, Dietmar Hamann, Stephane Henchoz and Salif Diao could return."

I'm certain Hamman will play if fit, as Pool have had most success against us when they have deployed 3 or 4 defensive midfielders.

Whether Utd win will be decided by two things. Firstly, will Ryan Giggs turn up today - he doesn't often turn it on against the Dippers - and secondly our abillity to deny Gerrard space for the long balls.

I'd pick a starting XI to prevail in the midfield battle, and save Giggs / Ronaldo for the last 30 minutes when legs are tired.

Nor am I. But when are we ever ?

Deep down I can see that Liverpool have upped their game in recent weeks in time for this, their Cup final.

Last time I was this sure of a Utd defeat was against Leeds in the Worthless.

2-0 to Liverpool.
 
I think Howard will mess up today for some reason. He has not been tested that much this season and he messed up against Arsenal in the charity shield when he let that Henry free-kick in.

Ive got all these mixed emotions...

Im nervous, scared, excited, worried etc etc etc.

Just cant wait till the 90 mins is up and I know where we stand.

Sod's law (or Murphy's :nervous: ) why we won't win.

1) Dudek had a nightmare last time so will play out of his skin.

2) Forlan scored two and we've sung about them ever since, plus he's been hyped up so much, he's bound to have a bad game.

This is the way it usually happens..........

Having Phil and Keano is really affecting us in this game. We are lacking creativity.

Im hoping the Gaff takes off Oshea, puts Fortune at left back, Giggs @ left wing and Ronnie on the right. We need some form of attacking potency because this isnt working.

There is no service to our 2 front men. Theres not point playing with 2 strikers if you have 3 defensive midfielders.

Even more nervous now after the 1st half....

God, what a crap first half. One could easily think that the match hasn't even started. We are way too passive, must play aggressive if we are going to use three defensive midfielders.
 
Heskey a massive letdown for us today - his movement is shite, glad Gerrard was giving him a mouthfull to sort it out.

Lets hope Pongo comes on to create more space.
 
The bright side of the 1st half was that Poo had 60% of the possesion, but didn't quite know what to do with the ball. A more creative side would have punished us. They still could, though, Kewell and Diouf are dangerous on the flanks and even Heskey keeps the defence busy.

If that hand ball from Ruud was intentional it is bloody disappointing. It backfires eventually if the cheat tag is attached to him (on top of the ugly behaviour as it is).

I thought he won a lot of air deuls, and kept possession well. This is what you expect from him anyway, isn't it?
