Liverpool v Manchester United

My overwhelming memory of that game was wondering how the hell we lost 4-1, I recall us being the better team, at worst it was an even game

I always record matches I go to and watch them all over again, and I was amazed watching it again. You're actually right. The shit I got when I said that to people, obviously we didn't deserve to win the match, but how we lost 4-1 was fecking unbelievable.

Spot on, I remember us lacking a bit of a cutting edge, but every shot they seemed to take just went in. Obviously one was a penalty, one was a counter-attack in the 90th minute with Vida sent off, and one was a free-kick..it was just a continual smash and grab.

We played much better in that match than we have done in the past three defeats at Anfield.

Unable to watch the game, feeling relieved actually. Hate these games but have a feeling we might go against the trend at Anfield this year. Good luck to everybody!

My Team Prediction:

De Gea
Smalling Ferdinand Vidic Evra

Valencia Fletcher Carrick Anderson Nani

Rooney

Subs:

Amos, Jones, Rafael, Young, Giggs, Welbeck, Hernandez

Score 0-2

Reasons:

Valencia offers extra protection.

Young is a great impact, however it may be Nani on bench and Young on left.

We need to have 5 in midfield at Anfield, Carricks protection and Fletcher and Anderson's energy. Andersons power-runs :)

Too early for Rafael and Smalling could offer extra height with someone like Carroll around.

Sadly Rooney on his own might not have much impact but he's our best lone front man and has to play anyway.

Vidic will be back in wether fully sharp or not and alongside Ferdinand to handle the diving little shit.

an hour or so away from kick-off, nerves settling in. :nervous:

Why would we leave Young out and move Nani from the position he has been devastating in? Also, Jones is surely ahead of smalling considering that he is fit.

LeBron James, part owner, will be watching his first Liverpool game.

"Yeah, I'm going for sure!" James told ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard on Thursday night. "Wouldn't miss this one! Biggest game in the world probably."

Shitting it, I wouldn't appreciate my weekend being ruined at such an early point.

Reasons added.

Is the extra protection really needed when we're playing 5 in midfield? There could be a case for it in a 442 but with 5 in midfield I'd rather 3 were left to attack at will.
We haven't seen Young come off the bench yet I don't think but we know he can impact from the start.
I agree with the 451 and Rooney up alone, but think Jones will be RB as I don't think Smalling is fit yet.

Surely Liverpool fans find his association a little... embarrassing?

I'd expect to hear team news very shortly.

Nani has become much better defensively than people give him credit for. Valencia has looked a bit lacking of ideas this season so far so I'd certainly go Nani and Young on the wings.

5 in midfield, one of which is Nani who offers very little protection to Evra who loves to get forward, having two attacking wingers is a little too adventurous imo.

Fergie might throw the dice though, Young does offer some protection to Evra so maybe Ferguson will try to pin their fullbacks back with Nani and Young and with three in the centre, look to control the midfield. Possession isn't going to be a big issue with Henderson and Adam punting the ball all over the shop.

Steven Gerrard starts his first game since March against Manchester United this lunchtime - listen live online from 12.40pm BST.

The Reds line-up in full is: Reina, Kelly, Enrique, Carragher, Skrtel, Lucas, Adam, Gerrard, Downing, Kuyt, Suarez. Subs: Doni, Bellamy, Carroll, Henderson, Spearing, Robinson, Agger.

Looking forward to seeing how Jones performs in this match. He was outstanding for Blackburn in the big games last season

If we're 451, we don't need defensive cover from the wingers also as the 3 central players will provide that with 2 not likely to go forward. Nani's defensive work is also underrated and Young does track back.

Is this the first time we've played before City this season?
