Liverpool v Manchester United

I met Aldridge at the weekend, seemed like an alright guy. The way we've played this season, our gung-ho approach coupled with the injuries to our defence, has seen us ship a few goals.

Their defence isn't the greatest, ours is better than theirs, but we haven't had a settled back four in a while, and there lies the problem. Once we get Vidic back to tighten things up, we'll be fine I reckon.

Whether he plays in this match, we don't know. We'll just wait and see.

Despite a penalty miss, he seemed to get through the Serbia match okay so that bodes well.

Fantastic news that Vidic is back for the weekend

Valencia went 60 minutes in New York, doubt he'll start.

Then again, that's pretty obvious.

So what's the injury situation looking like?

Vidic looks like he'll play. Rio is fit. Jones is fit. Fabio was on the bench for Brazil, so presumably fit. Did Evra play for France? And is Evans fit?

Looking strong all of a sudden.

The Sun reckons both cleverly and vidic will be fit....

Some big decisions for Fergie regarding his starting X1. I tend to think he'll want Vidic despite his lack of football recently, but maybe this game comes too early for Smalling and Cleverley. There must be a big doubt about Evans after missing both NI games, and about Fletcher, who played almost all Scotland's two matches over the last few days.

We're definitely looking stronger than we'd feared though, with Vidic, Evra and Fabio making appearances last night.

THe question is how fit? This will be an intense game, if you are lacking sharpness you are probably going to be found out at some point.

As much as i want Vida and TC to be fit for this game, i just cannot see how they can be after so long out.

Don't think Vidic is a looker but I've seen far less handsome people that Cleverley.

On one hand, I worry about Vidic coming back against a striker like Suarez. I didn't see him playing for Serbia, but we definitely don't want any sluggish mis-timed tackles as a result of lack of fitness, especially against a player that's likely to pretend he's dead after them.

On the other hand, his experience is invaluable. Maybe pairing him with Jones at centreback would be an idea? Dunno who'd play rightback though. Smalling and Valencia both sound doubtful, so maybe Fabio?

Dislocated shoulder, should be back in training at the end of the month. As for the game, I hope we will get stuck in and show a bit of passion and energy unlike the last three meetings.

-----------DDG---------
Jones---Rio---Vidic---Evra
---------Carrick----------
----Fletcher---Anderson--
Nani-----------------Young
--------Rooney----------
i agree......

thats a winning team (possibly swapping fletcher for cleverley)

It was said to be a 10 week injury sustained between the Charity Shield and the first league game, which was roughly 10 weeks ago.

Soon ish I'd think

Cheers fellas.

Not a bad choice then is it?

I didn't say it was a bad choice, did I?? I'm more than happy with it, but I would prefer it if everyone were fully fit and we could choose from all of our defenders. Hardly earth shattering stuff, is it?

This thread has now more views that the Norwich game.

there is a chance rooney might not play, to spare him the torrid of abuse he be getting.

Yeah but as long as the Scousers are obsessing about we're obsessing about how obsessive the Scousers are we'll be fine.

Lol, like anyone believes that King Kenneth doesn't consider this fixture, at Anfield, to be the biggest game of Liverpool's season.

I suppose we can hope that they treat it the same as games such as Spurs, and perform as poorly, but I doubt it.

one thing for sure; it clearly is their biggest game - the occasional cup final apart and even then, they don't approach it with the same frenzy that they know they'll get away with at home.......but let's deny it and make a casual "we don't care" statement and the tabs will drum up the usual "Fergie fury", "furious Fergie" headline in a desperate attempt to sell shit paper on Merseyside
